Out of the East German metal band "Merlin" Mario Le Mole (vocals) and Volker Schultz (drums) founded the band "Gracious Violence". With the help of Frank Bornemann (Eloy) they recorded a first demo - a smash hit at the Japanese radio stations and also in the "BURRN!", the most popular rock magazine in Japan. They got the best reviews. These positive reviews in foreign countries led to a growing interest, also in Germany and the band made its first record deal.
MIND ODYSSEY's first CD "Keep It All Turning" was published in spring 1993. After that there was a change in the band.
Victor Smolski, the son of the world wide known White Russian composer Dmitri Smolski, started playing the guitar and breathed new life into the band. In the early summer of 1995 they recorded a new CD called "Schizophenia". This time the producer was Hermann Frank (ex-Accept, ex-Victory). A Video clip which could often be seen on MTV and VIVA was produced.
After a lot of single gigs they supported VICIOUS RUMOURS, the American heroes of the Bay-Area scene, on their tour throughout Europe. In 1997 MIND ODYSSEY spent most of the time working on their new album "Nailed To The Shade" which represents the modern Melodic Power Metal sound of the 90ties.
Since April 1999 MIND ODYSSEY is in the VPS-studio again to record their already fourth album. After listening to the first tracks it seems that it will be a great work again. "Signs", thats the name of the new album, will be released in October/November 1999.
