The Misfits was an early punk rock band from New Jersey, USA, which is perhaps most famous for being the breeding ground for satanic artistry extraordinaire Glenn Danzig. The band existed between 1977 and 1983 when Danzig formed a new band called Samhain. Metallica covered their songs "Last Caress" and "Green Hell" on their "Garage Days" album. The band name was chosen from the titled of Marilyn Monroe's final movie. In 1995 The Misfits reformed and two new albums were released in the late 90s.
