The Moonstone Project is an ambitious musical entity created by Italian guitarist Matt Filippini. His debut album "Time To Take A Stand" was released in 2006 and features appearances from some of the greatest names in the history of hard rock such as Ian Paice (Deep Purple), Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple, Black Sabbath), Graham Bonnet (Rainbow, MSG) and Eric Bloom (Blue Öyster Cult).
In January and February of 2007 Matt did a five date tour throughout Italy and Spain with Ian Paice on drums and Roberto Tiranti from Lab’rinth on vocals. According to Matt himself these shows were "a sort of jam session including several PURPLE hits and a selection of classic rock songs from HENDRIX, FREE, BAD COMPANY, WHITESNAKE and more."
Late February saw the actual Moonstone Project touring Italy in support of House Of Lords. In May 2007 Glenn Hughes joined the band for another Italian tour. Moonstone Project performed with Marco Sivo (PLANETHARD) on vocals but Glenn was on stage for the second half of their set, performing DEEP PURPLE, TRAPEZE and solo-career classics along with the MOONSTONE PROJECT tracks he sang on the "Time to Take a Stand" album.
