Band biography

Morbid Angel was originally formed back in 1984 by guitarist Trey Azagthoth in Florida, USA. In 1989 they released their debut album "Altars Of Madness" on the British label Earache Records, one of the most groundbreaking albums of modern American death metal. Together with bands like Death and Atheist they created a whole new sound which has been influencing hundreds and yet hundreds of bands up to this date. In 1991 they released the classic "Blessed Are The Sick" which led to a deal with the major label Warner. They were the first death metal band ever to sign a major deal. This year they also release their 1986 demo "Abominations Of Desolation" on cd. After the tour for the 1996 live album "Entangled In Chaos" the bassist and vocalist David Vincent left the band to join his wife's sado-rock band Genitorturers. Morbid Angel remains one of the leading death metal bands ever in this world. In late July 2004 it was announced that the band had parted ways with their long-time record label Earache Records.
