2001-2002
Musaka was formed back in the winter of 2001. in the city of Banja Luka
- (Bosnia & Herzegovina), by Boris Todorovic (guitar, programming,
keyboards), Davorin Turajlic (guitar, vocals), Milan Novakovic (bass, lead
vocals) and Srdjan Karalic (drums). In that time, it was just a band
that played covers and had only one real rehearsal (due to lack of their
own musical equipment and practice rooms). In 2002. Boris leaves home
country and continues to work with Musaka on it's own.
2003
A full-length album was written until february of 2003 and it was about
to get recorded. The title of this album was "Eat Me", but it never saw
the light of the day. New songs were getting written - "...of A
Moment", "Lice Tame", "Mind Detonations", "Mortal Ending", "Materijali",
"Pustinja Stvarnosti". Few of them were recorded and distributed over
mp3.com, but it was decided they go off, because they haven't created the
global atmosphere of EP.
In august / september of the same year new materials were being written
- songs "Part I :: Forbidden Dawn Visions", "Part II :: Awakening of
the Death" and cyber / atmospheric piece "Part III :: Within The
Seconds...". Now the satisfaction is complete, atmosphere Boris wanted is
achieved and so those songs were getting recorded. The final demo-EP was
produced in low quality, but since it was time to move on and do some more
new music, promotion of "...of A Moment EP" started and words about
Musaka are going to be spread... During late 2003. few new songs were
composed, and conceptual story was written. There weren't many promo
packages sent, only a few, but a full promotion is planned for a full-length
album, which will feature much better stuff.
2004
Early 2004 was spent on composing new songs and pre-production. It was
until mid-april that songs have been recorded and mixed. "Ancient
Memories" was set as a title of debut album, and it features eight songs
(off which two are instrumental/ambient pieces) and 40 minutes of total
playtime. Production is now much better, even though the album was
recorded in home-production. No financial support means no studio. Somewhere
in the future Musaka may enter the studio, but for now, exploring the
home-made sound is a primary goal, and it doesn't sound bad at all!
Album is filled with even more brutal sounds, but with even more doomy
passages. Shape of Musaka's sound is coming together, with "Ancient
Memories" sounding really dark, yet very with great atmosphere. What reactions
will it produce? Time will tell...
