In early 2001 Hempa Brynolfsson (songwriter/guitar) tried to reunite his old band EXCRUCIATE (88-93). But after two rehearsals and a recording of a 3 track promo-CD, he felt that he wanted to work with people that are more creative. Hempa Brynolfsson met up with drummer Martin Karlsson (SIN, STAIRLAND) and they started up the project MYKORRHIZA. At first their vision were to create a pure Grind/Death-Metal project. But then the style changed towards some kind of Death/Black/Grind/Heavy-Metal mixture.
