Napalm was a New York based thrash metal band who were originally called Combat and formed in 1984 after the Rossbach brothers had seen Metallica and Raven live at a local Long Island club called Cheers. As they signed a deal with Combat Records they had to change their name to Napalm before the release of their EP in 1986. The EP was cut directly from a $200 8-track four song demo that the band had paid for themselves and recorded with local engineer / producer Bob Spencer and sold almost 1000 copies with little promotion. In November of 1985 they opened up for Motorhead at a local club called Sundance in Bayshore, Long Island. This was actually the show where they were discovered by Joe Leonard of Combat Records. Combat Records wanted Napalm to release a full length album but the Rossbach brothers now left the band since they were not happy with the Combat deal. For their final album in 1990 none of the original members were left in the band and soon after its release they broke up. Apparently the Rossbach brothers have resurrected the Combat name and have done occasional shows in the New York area.
