This was the beginning of Octavia. The strong friendship among the three girls emerged from the sad incident that was Erik "Grim" Brødreskifts death in October `99. They all had a close relationship to him, and so did Trine who joined shortly after on bass.
So now the vocal, synth, guitars and bass were set, but they were in need of a female metal drummer, something not easily found. Fortunately Trine had, after some beers at Garage (our favorite pub), a conversation with Horgh (Immortal/Pain) and it appeared that his girlfriend Silje Røyseth played the drums.
They started rehearse at AKKS Bergen. All of them except the drummer took some courses at AKKS Bergen and in that connection they did their first gig together a few months later. Their first paid concert came shortly after at an outdoor appearance in the town center of Bergen, Norway.
Through her work at AKKS Bergen Silje (vocal and synth) got to know Tone who had played classical piano for many years. Silje thought: "…hmmm…why sing and play when I could spend all my precious energy for singing only?"..and suddenly they were six girls in the band.
It had to happen sooner or later… one of the girls turned out being pregnant. Silje R. wanted to focus on her child and education so unfortunately she had to leave the band…Hail to Silje, Enya and Reidar (Horgh)!! Luckily Octavia knew a good drummer and friend Hege Larsen, and soon she joined the band.
The girls went in studio in February 2002 to record their EP "GUILTY".
They are currently working on their upcoming album and will hit studio in September 2004 to finish this full length. Some recordings have already been done, and you can listen to a raw mix of one of the songs, "Lifelines of Depths" at the MP3 link on their web site. You will also find songs from their demo "GUILTY" there.
The song "Lifelines of Depths" has been included as one of the tracks on one of Music Export Norway`s first ever metal compilation cd together with tunes from bands such as Audiopain, Einherjer, Enslaved, Red Harvest and Zyklon among others. The cd is put together in order to promote Norwegian music internationally.
In March 2004 they recorded a music video for their raw mixed song "Lifelines of Depths". This is currently spinning on the Norwegian broadcasting TV channel NRK 2.
The girls want to thank their friends in the entire metal scene of Bergen for their supporting attitude to Octavia Sperati. To mention some names; Enslaved, Aeternus, Immortal, Hades Almighty, Gorgoroth, Helheim, Fuck, Lost at Last, Sulphur, St.Satan, Amok, Manngard. …And some bands outside the metalscene of Bergen: Audrey Horne, Ephemera, Zeenon, Dimension f3h, Rockatansky, October File, The Priscillas, Ralph Myerz and the Jack Herren Band, Khold, Zetored.
