Raw, political, visceral, and genre-bending, One Day as a Lion is a collaboration between Rage Against the Machine vocalist Zack de la Rocha and ex-Mars Volta drummer Jon Theodore. Blending elements of rock, metal, rap, and punk, the duo released its eponymous debut EP on the Anti label on July, 22, 2008.
Asked about the name, One Day as a Lion was named after an infamous black and white graffiti photograph taken by Chicano photographer George Rodriguez in 1970 with a caption reading "it's better to live one day as a lion, than a thousand years as a lamb."
One Day as a Lion has yet to announce their first tour, although de la Rocha is busy touring with the reunited Rage Against the Machine and may write a new album with them. de la Rocha had also revealed there will be an album from One Day as a Lion, and stated that they "want to play shows and be a band and go out and start some noise". He also mentions adding members to the group, revealing "We’re still in the process of forming as a band - we need a keyboard player, I’m not good enough to do it all myself - so that will be rectified soon".
