American 80s styled heavy metal act Pain And Passion was brought to life in 1998 by voalist Björn Asking (Punchline), guitarist Roger Ericson (Greyhound) and bassist Hans Johansson (Biscaya). The band's debut demo was recorded with renowned producer Fredrik Nordström behind the knobs. The song "Warchild" was included on a metal compilation out of Slovakia entitled "Grimoire Production Vol. 6". A year later the band went back to the studio in order to focus on their second demo and they also played in front of 17000 people at the Swedish Bike Meeting the same year.
The second demo was shopped around to various labels and eventually Britain's Escape Music was chosen to release the band's eponymous debut album in July 2003 after a previous contract with an undisclosed German label had been terminated due to financial reasons. "Pain And Passion" was recorded in their home town together with experienced producer Robert Laghi (Freak Kitchen, B-Thong, Hardcore Superstar, Lok etc.). In October 2002 the band recruited drummer André Holmqvist.
By the summer of 2004 original guitarist Roger Ericson had parted with the band. With the induction of new axeman Janne Lüthje they changed their musical direction slightly and morphed into Zero Illusions.
