Pantera photo
Together with bands such as Megadeth, Metallica, Machine Head and the likes Pantera is one of the most successful American metal bands ever. The band was orignially formed in 1983 by Diamond (Dimebag) Darrell and his brother Vinny Paul. The first four albums were released independently before they managed to get a major record deal. Those four albums doesnt really have anything in common with the modern Pantera since they were more glam-hardrock oriented in the spirit of Judas Priest and Mtley Crue. In 1992 their "Mouth For War" became the first metal singled ever to debut at #1 in the charts. Eventually vocalist Phil Anselmo started focusing on various side projects, resulting in the official breakup of the band in 2003.
