Kaunissaar and Fiebig, two lowlifes united in a filthy bar. What do you think of creating a deathmetal band K said, it sounds like a wonderful idea F replied. At this time in the fall of -96, the two of them decided that metal should consist of at least one more guitar and a bas. So they had to return to that filthy bar, but now with a much greater quest, the mission of finding a guitarist.
It was the minutes just before closing time and what time could be better if you want to find a metal head with long greasy hair and a drunken attitude. Just look around and right there in front of them he “stood” shouting out nasty names to the lovely ladies. Johansson “Dasen”(means big dick) had what it takes to be a member in such sofistikated band as Portal. The line-up was later fulfilled with basplayer Åkerman.
About a year later they arrived to the studio, with what they thought was the best and most hardrocking metal ever heard. Four pieces of metal history was recorded. The most amazing part in this metal farytale, was that a bunsh of labels showed their interrest in this songs. The lucky ones that got the responsibility to manufactor and release the coming record was the german label Invasion records. How proud can a man be ? The future looked bright and dreams seem to come true, but do you think they were fucked right up the ass by this loosing two wars uggly language motherfuckers? Yes they were. Thoroughly it was a good time for some changes they thought. Let`s tune down the guitars and get ourselfs a new basplayer. Said and done. They tuned their guitars and went straight to the bar to find the most talented man for the job. And belive it or not, scouting members at the bar is a reliable source if you are searching for metal musicians.
And ever since Koverot joined the band on bas, the line-up has been steady. From now on the insperation was flowing, and a new fourtrack demo was soon to be recorded. The demo wasen`t even mixed before Widda at Cadla Communications offered to be the one that should release this material. Funny gay that Widda, and they could understand what he was saying. So everything seemed to be allright. And about a year and a half later, after a lot of delays (everything shoulden`t be blamed on Widda) Portal's first fullenght album saw the light of day.
This is where they stand today, and it`s not because of laziness. They are indeed active rehersing, playing live gigs and have even recorded a few more songs called promo 2002. But all you metalbands out there know how it is, trying to get a decent deal from the moneymaking no good for nothing metal labels.
But Portal does not give in, and by the end of the next year I can promise you a new full length album by Portal.
