Band biography
Requiem Aeternam photo
The band started its activities in September of 1995 in Montevideo (Uruguay) featuring a local compilation. At that time the line-up was Martín López (drums - ex Amon Amarth; Opeth), Martín Méndez (bass - Opeth), Pablo Magallanes (guitar) and José Romero (guitar and vocals - ex Inner Sanctum). After some member changes, the line-up kept defined as Fabián Redondo (drums), Marcelo Aguilar (bass) and José Romero (guitars and vocals). The first shows began to arrive and among them was recorded the Eternally Dying's EP, released by Death Row Productions in the early 1997.

At the end of that year, the debut album's recording sessions started at Record studios in Montevideo. Continuing with the CD production, Requiem Aeternam flew to Santiago (Chile) to mix it with José Luis Corral, who has worked with artists like Criminal and Inner Sanctum. And then to finish this process traveled to Buenos Aires (Argentina) to be mastered with David Santos, well-known for his works with Riff and Hermética among others.

Eternally Dying was released in July of 1998 through ICorp, being distributed in the main Latin American countries and some Europeans.

As a part of the promotion, Infamy's video clip was filmed and then aired by MTV Latina (in Spanish) and MTV Brazil as well as many others channels from Uruguay and Argentina. After a while Come Back's video was taped too... achieving similar answers.

Still talking about promotional things, Eternally Tour kicked off in December of 1999 at the South of Brazil being followed by many shows in Uruguay, Argentina, Paraguay and again Brazil, including one concert with the American band Incantation.

In April of 2002 José Romero edited a book called Escritos Prohibidos (Forbidden Writings). It deals with Philosophy and Economy, also includes a Poetic chapter. There are a few Eternally Dying lyrics published as one of the 'forbidden'.

By the middle of that year, José Romero decided to move to New York City. From where he has slowly started to regain new members to record the long time awaited second album, which is completely written and will be recorded in the near future!
