The American AOR band Roadmaster was formed as the high school act Pure Funk in 1967 in Indianapolis, Indiana. In 1976 they changed their name to Roadmaster when they changed singers from Benrubi to McNally. After having lost their record deal in 1980 McNaly and John quit the band and they had to go back to playing bars again. The band fell apart as Toby Myers was offered a position in John Mellencamp's band. They did however reunite in 1989 for some local gigs.
