Three pupils of the Orel Machine-building technical school
formed a group called S.C.A.L.P. at the end of 1991. They were:
In December, 28 1991 S.C.A.L.P. gave the first concert in an assembly
hall of their educational institution. This date is considered to be the
date of group formation.
S.C.A.L.P. recorded the first demo tape in August 1994. It was called
"Madness Cannibalism" and according to the style of music it was a
mixture of heavy death metal and grind core. But there were some melodic
insertions which became so typical of S.C.A.L.P. Then it recorded mini
demo "C.I.A", consisting of two "Madness Cannibalism” b-sides and cover
versions of NAPALM DEATH’s "Scum" and BAD RELIGION’s "The American
Jesus". “C.I.A.” was some kind of summarizing. The initial idea of “garage”
record was not conceived, as a demo tape.
In 1995 the group recorded a demo tape “Memory” (melodic death/doom
metal). The work was more serious and intelligent, which was recorded
specially as demo. The song “What For?“ in 1996 was released on MC “Thrash
Your Mother” vol.4. (compilation of young metal bands) The first
serious studio work was made in the beginning of 1997 in V.P. Studio
(Smolensk) by record of an album “Through Eternity”. In the same year "Through
Eternity" was issued in the format of ?? by the Rest In Peace
Productions (Russia), and in 1998 was released in Czechia on CD, by Czech label
Leviathan Records.
CD "Through Eternity" was recorded by the following musicians:
Evgeny Ryzhenok - bass / vocal,
Pavel Peristiy - guitar,
Alexey Kuznetsov - drums,
Alexey Orehov - keys.
The music of this album represents a mixture of various styles of
modern heavy music. There are elements of death/doom metal, and elements of
hard'n'heavy. The style of the music submitted on "Through Eternity"
can be characterized as melodious dark/gothic metal. The debut disk has
received good reviews in many Russian and foreign magazines.
In autumn 1998 S.C.A.L.P. took part in a large festival “BALTIC
THUNDER" in Minsk.
In the summer 1999 the group recorded the second studio album “Tears
And Blood”. During the work Evgeny Ryzhenok left the group and music.
S.C.A.L.P. remained without the bassist, and, that it is even worse
without the vocalist. This period in a history of the group is marked by a
constant change of bass guitarists, and search of the vocalist. The was
no questions about any concerts and other actions. In result the album
"Through Eternity" and just recorded “Tears And Blood” did not received
due information support, and the group for the long period (summer 1999
- winter 2001) disappeared from a view of massmedia, and fans. Despite
of it, they worked on a new material.
Evgeny Ryzhenok came the group again in the winter 2001 as the bass
guitarist. He played some concerts and recorded a few absolute new tracks
in M.O.S.T. Studio, with Pavel Peristiy’s vocal. However, Evgeny
because of his alcohol abuse left the band.
In the spring 2003 recording of the single “I’m Paralysed/The Last” was
completed. Last day in August the group shoots a clip on a new song
"The Last".
At the fall of 2004 Russian label Metalism Rec. released album "Tears
And Blood"
Now the group is working above a material for a new album which on
tentative estimations of the musicians will differ from the previous
creativity in a heavier and more aggressive side.
