In the year of 1994 the band Siebenbürgen was formed by Marcus Ehlin (guitar, vocals) and Anders Rosdahl (drums). A couple of months later Fredrik Brockert (bass) joined the band.
In February 1996 they recorded their first and selftitled Demo-tape. After the release of the Demo a new member joined the band, Linus Ekström (guitar).
This far they have had a couple of gigs, with bands like Bewitched, Sacramentum and In aeternum, to mention a few.
During the Halloween-weekend of -96 Siebenbürgen recorded their second Demo, "Ungentum Pharelis". With this Demo they landed a contract with Napalm Records, and recorded their first Album, in April -97, entitled "LOREIA". In October/November 1997, Siebenbürgen had 3 successful shows in Germany, with Forbidden Site (FRA) and Menhir (GER).
During January/February 1998, Siebenbürgen recorded their second album, "GRIMJAUR", which was released in May the same year. In July they went on tour again, this time with Atanatos (GER) and Ragnarok (NOR).
On both Demos, and the two first Albums, Lovisa Hallstedt contributes with female vocals and violin. "GRIMJAUR" was the last Album she played on.
In 1999 a new female vocalist joined Siebenbürgen, Kicki Höijertz.
They went on tour again, with Tristania (NOR), The Sins Of Thy Beloved (NOR), Trail Of Tears (NOR) and Antichrisis (GER). 18 gigs was played in Germany, Austria, Netherlands, Belgium and Swiss.
On "LOREIA" and "GRIMJAUR" the lyrics where all written in Swedish. With their third Album "DELICTUM", they broke that direction and most lyrics where written in English, but as before, they are depicting creatures from old folklore, in shapes of dark poetic fairytales.
Siebenbürgen is the old European name for Transylvania.
In December 2000 Marcus Ehlin decided to hand over his position as guitarist to Richard
Bryngelsson to fully concentrate on his anguished vocals.
On the 1st of February 2006 the members had a band meeting and came to the conclusion that they had to bury SIEBENBÜRGEN.
