Band biography

The story of Silent Scythe began when Tommi came to Sweden after doing a tour with Brimstone in October 1999. After a couple of years of struggling Tommi was ready to throw the towel but several people suggested he should at least record his ideas. A few pieces of the puzzle fell in right spot and in 2002 the first demo “Death is Coming” was finally released. The demo was not really a masterpiece yet, but a very needed step to get Silent Scythe really going. A year later Silent Scythe had done a couple of really good live-shows and they won a demo-contest. Tommi decided to do it right 100%, invested nearly 10,000 EUR in doing a real record. “Suffer in Silence” was the name of this fantastic record and it didn’t take long before the band signed a deal with Dutch label New Aeon Media. Now fasten your seatbelts and get ready for the ultimate crossover between Swedish Death/Thrash and US Power Metal of Sweden’s best newcomer-act… Silent Scythe!

On May 23rd, 2005, it was announced that the band had disbanded due to "commitment issues" while working on their new album "Born Into Bondage". They did however play one final post mortem show on August 28th at the Re:Union festival in Uddevalla, Sweden.
