Skyclad was formed in Newcastle in 1990 by Martin Walkyrier and Steve Ramsey. The next
year they released their debut album "Wayward Sons Of Mother Earth" where the pagan and
anti-christian lyrics of Martin mixed with the thrash metal riffs from Steve and a fair
amount of good old English folk music. Since then the band has continued to develop their
unique blend of folk music and classic metal and released a vast number of albums. In April
2001 Martin Walkyrier announced that he was leaving Skyclad because of financial problems and
to be able to concentrate on his newly revived Sabbat (the band that he was in before starting
up Skyclad). In early February 2006 the band signed a new contract with the Greek label Black Lotus Records.
