1992 MF Pitbulls is formed by Shannon Larkin. This band
would go on to include, Tumor, Jamie, and Sonny and would serve as one of
the earliest incarnations of Snot.
Summer 1994 Snot is formed in Santa Barbara, CA. This original lineup
featured Mike Doling (formerly of Kronix) on guitar, Lynn Strait (former
bassist of Lethal Dose) on vocals, Brent on drums, and Ruben on bass.
The band played keg parties throughout the summer.
January 1995 Bassist John "Tumor" Fahnstock joins Snot to replace
Ruben.
April 14, 1995. Easter. Lynn Strait calls Sonny Mayo at his Mom's house
in D.C, in an effort to recruit him into the then fledgling Snot.. Lynn
says " I'm looking for Metal" Sonny replies "You called the right
place."
March 24,1995 Snot records their first demo with G G Garth in Burbank.
This demo included My Balls, Stoopid, Lose, Just for Kicks(which would
later become Tecato), and Can't Be Trusted.
May 27th 1995 2 AM Sonny Mayo arrives in Santa Barbara. Snot goes to
jam.
June 1995 Snot enlists the services of Drummer Cornfed (now the drummer
for Ultraspank), to replace Brent, the "spoiled rich kid, who was just
in a band to be cool".
Early 1996 Snot records a demo at 4th St. in Santa Monica with Jim Wirt
(who would later produce both Incubus records). This demo included
Stoopid, Lose and Unplugged.
March 1996 Snot records a demo with Dave Fortman of Ugly Kid Joe
producing. This demo included Snooze Button, Snot, and Both Sides
Fall 1995 After conquering the Santa Barbara scene, Snot begins playing
in LA. Their first show was opening for Manhole at the Roxy. Lynn would
later appear on a track on Manhole's "All Is Not Well" LP.
May 1996 MF Pitbulls (Sonny, Tumor, Jamie, and Shannon Larkin)record an
album, that is eventually shelved.
June 1996 Snot snags drummer Jamie Miller from Souls at Zero, where he
had replaced Shannon Larkin.(Later Shannon would replace him in Snot.)
July 1996 Snot signs to Geffen Records.
March 1997 Snot embarks on their first tour with Sugar Ray and The
Urge. (After this, Snot would tour relentlessly, for the next several
years, doing tours with Fishbone, Suicidal Tendencies, Life Of Agony,
Machine Head, Sevendust, Coal Chamber, Human Waste Project, Deftones, and
Soufly, and finally the Ozzfest.)
May 27,1997 Get Some is released.
June 12th, 1997 I talk to Lynn Strait for the first time. We become
friends, and he asks me to do the official Snot site.
June 30th, 1997 The Official Snot Site is born, at it's original home
at Mysti.com.
March 1998 Snot enters the studio with Ross Robinson to record Absent,
the song that would appear on the Strangeland soundtrack. This would
also serve as the final recording of the real Snot lineup of Sonny,
Tumor, Mikey, Jamie and Lynn.
May 1998 Guitarist Sonny Mayo leaves Snot to join Amen.He is them
replaced with Mike Smith, who would play with Snot on a tour with Soulfly,
and the summer's Ozzfest.
July 1998 Lynn is arrested for indecent exposure, when, at an Ozzfest
show in Boston, he jumped out of Limp Bizkit's giant toilet stage prop
naked, and received oral sex from a stripper.
August 1998 Drummer Jamie Miller leaves Snot to form Hero with Mike
Smith and Ex-Human Waste Project members Aimee Echo and Scott Ellis. Jamie
is then temporarily replaced by former Ugly Kid Joe Drummer Shannon
Larkin.
September 1998 Snot is forced to back out of the Strangeland tour, due
to scheduling problems with replacement drummer Larkin, and inner band
turmoil.
Fall 1998 Snot begins work on their second album for Geffen. They track
ten songs, minus Lynn's vocals.
December 11th, 1998 Lynn is killed in a 3 car collision in Santa
Barbara, CA.
