Band biography

Soulfly was formed in 1997 as Max Cavalera left his former band Sepultura after his wife and their manager Gloria Cavalera had been fired because of several disagreements that could not be dissolved. They soon signed a record deal with Sepultura's label Roadrunner Records and released their self-titled debut album in 1998. In late September 2003 it was reported that Cavalera had parted with the rest of his band.
