The American heavy metal band Steeler was formed in 1980 in Nashville, Tennessee, by band leader Ron Keel. After having relocated to Los Angeles they signed a record deal with Shrapnel Records. Label boss Mike Varney brought Swedish guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen into the band. Several line-up changes followed the debut album in 1983 and due to the instability of the band Keel decided to form a new band simply titled Keel and the band folded in 1984.
