Stone was a power metal band from Helsinki, Finland, that formed in the mid 80's. They were very successful in their native country and with their "Back To The Stoneage" EP in 1988 they scored a number 1 hit. This also resulted in a deal with the short-lived MCA sublabel Mechanic Records, a label who also released albums from Voivod and Violence. The band also did an American tour in support of Testament before the label went out of business. The band was put to rest in 1992. The original guitarist Jiri went on to play with his father's (country / schlager star Kari Tapio) back-up band.
