Band biography

The German Stormwitch were one of the first bands who came to form the power metal scene in Europe and also one of the better known. The band formed in 1979 under the name Lemon Sylvan. After a couple of line-up changes they changed their name into Stormwitch in 1981. In 1983 they recorded a demo with four songs - "The Cave Of Steenfoll", "Priest Of Evil", "Walpurgis Night" and "Flour In The Wind". In 1984 they released their debut album through Gama Records and their career was on the way. They finally broke up some time after the release of their final studio album "Shogun" in 1994. Apparently most people find "Stronger Than Heaven" and "Tales Of Terror" to be their best albums. They have now reunited and released a new album in 2002. In July 2004 Stormwitch signed a record contract with the German label Nuclear Blast.
