The Black Dahlia Murder is a melodic death metal band from Southern Michigan, USA, which formed in January 2001. The name refers to the mysterious murder of the 22-year-old actress Elizabeth Short who was found cut in half, bruised and beaten on January 15th, 1947. Several people confessed the murder but the case has never been solved. After an initial EP for Lovelost Records they signed a deal with major metal label Metal Blade Records for the release of their debut full-length "Unhallowed" in 2003. The band has toured together with bands like Arch Enemy, Soilent Green, Hate Eternal and Himsa.
