The band was formed in 1997 by Alex Pascu (bass/vocals) together with
guitarists Andrei Muller and Alex Dascalescu. The band soon started to
write songs and in January ;98 they recorded a five-track demo "Tales
From A Dying World" in Romania's most appreciated studio: MRC. The music
was at that time more gothic-oriented, but also with heavy metal
influences. "Tales From A Dying World" is certainly a rarity and there are
very few copies. After a few shows, and as soon as everything was
developing into something bigger, the guitarists left Alex Pascu alone with
his dream of a metal band.
The fate of Thunderstorm seemed sealed. But by the end of 1998, Alex
found new support in guitarist Andrei "Guns" Paraschiv, who showed
interest in Alex' music. Together with drummer Cristi "Araya" Stefanescu and
singer Horatiu "Ozzy" Ghibu, they recorded in the spring of '99 a 5
track CD, called "Season Of Shadows", showing the new side of
Thunderstorm: melodic heavy metal. This CD offered the band the opportunity to
appear on Radio & TV Shows and after a few concerts, the band was already
well-known in the underground scene.
When everything seemed to work very well for the guys, Araya and Ozzy
decide to leave the band. Left without drummer and singer, but
determined to go on, Andrei and Alex continued to write songs for the next
record, auditioning musicians. And so, drummer Doru Trocan joins the Storm.
And, so the beginning of 2001 found Thunderstorm looking for a capable
singer, but also with an unfortunate accident: Alex gets hit by a car
and is injured pretty bad. The next four months, even though he felt bad
and had a cast on his leg, he started recording the bass lines for the
forthcoming record. Thunderstorm soon got also a new singer: Vlad
Necula, with whom Thunderstorm began rehearsing and recording.
After 3 months of recording, finally it came out: "Beyond The Dawn",
the band's ultimate recording. Uncovering a more profound approach to
heavy-metal, introducing keyboards and striking vocal harmonies,
Thunderstorm went on by promoting the album with a lot of shows. Who knows where
they'll go next? Thunderstorm is drawing near....
