Thy Primordial was formed in the small town of Mjölby, Sweden, in 1994. Their first demo "De Mörka Makters Alla" ("All Of The Dark Powers") was released in March 1995 and soon after the release they signed an album deal with the American Gothic Records. Their debut album "Under Iskall Trollmåne" ("Under Ice-cold Troll Moon") was supposed to have been released in February 1996 but it was delayed and the band continued to work on new material. In March 1996 they recorded a promotional demo that helped them get a contract with the French label Pulverized Records in July 1996. The material on this untitled promo-tape was released as a 7" EP in August 1996 by Paranoia Syndrome. In September they entered the Rolab Music Studio to record their second album called "Where Only The Seasons Mark The Paths Of Time". This album was professionally recorded and became the first ever underground release to be re-mastered with 20 Bit CD mastering technology. The band started working on new material right away and in August 1997 they entered Sunlight Studio in Stockholm to record "At The World Of Untrodden Wonder" together with Fred Esby and Tomas Skogsberg. This album uncluded some clean vocal parts in contrast to the harsh black metal screeches. In August 1998 their first album was finally released by Gothic Records. Therefore Pulverised Records decided to wait some time before releasing "At The World Of Untrodden Wonder" in April 1999. In August that very year they once again entered the Sunlight Studio to record "The Heresy Of An Age Of Reason". This was the strongest material so far from the band and the album was finally released in the end of June 2000.
