Tokyo Blade was formed in Salisbury, UK, in the late 70s or very early 80s by a group of friends from school under the original monicker Killer. A demo was recorded in 1981 after which a name change took place and they became Genghis Khan. Three singles later a further name change to Tokyo Blade occurred.
A deal was signed with New Tork based Powerstation and their self-titled debut album was out in the streets in 1983. In 1984 Tokyo Blade appeared at the Dutch Aardschok festival where they shared the stage with Metallica and Venom among others. In 1986 they did their first American shows opening for Venom. Numerous line-up changes and legal problems with the Powerstation label took its toll on the band who called it quits around 1991.
A reunion took place in 1995, resulting in a demo with a new line-up once again. In April 1986 they appeared at the Bang Your Head festival in Germany but split up soon after this show.
