Treasure Land was a Swedish progressive metal band that formed in 1993 after guitarist Jonas Hörnqvist had recovered from a serious muscle inflammation he had in his picking arms which was caused by heavy duty guitar practicing. At first they were a trio consisting of Jonas, his brother Magnus and bass player Magnus Lind. They rehearsed for almost a year before adding keyboarder Kaspar Dahlqvist. They had difficulties finding a suitable singer so in the end Jonas called a friend of his named Zenny Gram (ex-Destiny) in 1995 and asked him if he could sing on their demo. He said yes, they recorded their demo and four months later they had a couple of label offers to choose from. The winner was the German company Modern Music (to release the album through their label T&T Records).

In September of 1996 they recorded their debut album "Questions" which was released in February 1997. A couple of months later they received a phone call from Modern Music saying that Zenny was dragging them down which they didn't agree with at all. All songs on the debut album were written by the Hörnqvist brothers. They worked hard with Zenny for a second album but Modern Music didn't even listen to the new material but just told them to get rid of their singer. Zenny was therefore reluctantly kicked out, not really by the band but by their label. A couple of months later Jonas got the phone number to a singer that the brothers liked very much namely Jacob Samuel. He called him and he agreed to join the band in November / December 1997.

Another phone call came from Modern Music. This time they told them that if they recorded the cd in January of 1998 and sent it to the label, they promised a European tour opening up for Virgin Steele. They told the label that it was too little time for Jacob to learn five or six songs in just a month but after intense rehearsing they still recorded the cd and was looking forward to the promised tour. The tour did not happen for them and in May Kaspar left the band since he was tired of the lies from their record company and in the same month they cancelled the contract.

A couple of gigs together with Lion's Share were done to promote the cd and they also filmed a video at their release party in Gothenburg. The video was released in the end of October 1998 by an Australian video company called Metal Warriors. The band then took a long break but was to record a new demo to be sent out to record companies in the summer of 2004.
