Tygers Of Pan Tang was formed in late 1978 in Whitley Bay, Great Britain, with original vocalist Mark. The line-up laste for three gigs only before ex-Willy And The Werewolves guitarist Jess Cox joined as lead vocalist. The band had only one original song at this time called "Don't Touch Me There" and covered material from bands like Motörhead and Ted Nugent. The band then recorded a demo at Impulse Studios and signed a deal with local label Neat Records who released their first single which sold 7000 copies. The band were then signed by MCA who re-released the debut single in March 1980. Again, it sold another 7000 copies.
