Jonas Arvidsson formed the band in late 1999, together with bass-player David Agnsviks. Adding Ingemar Erlandsson on drums, Christer Elmgren on vocals, and Niclas Cederfeldt as another guitar-player.
A long before the rehearsal room was finished, David Angsviks died in a traffic accident. It was in August 2000. Anyway, the determination to play was stronger to be broken and VII GATES picked up another guy on the bass, Magnus Jacobsson. In December 2000, Nicklas decided to leave the band. But in Spring 2001 Basti joined the band just in time to be part of the recording of the first Demo. "When Gates are Opening" led to interests from a record company which made VII GATES to enter the studio once again and show that it wasn't a one-time wonder. With Mats Andreasson now being as a permanent member, the "A Dark Room of my Mind" Demo was recorded in September 2001. Even if the production was terrible, VII GATES actually got a deal to discuss. However, it didn't felt right, and the band turned the offer down.
In August 2002, VII GATES recorded their third Demo "The Madman Inside". About two months later Magnus left the band, and Morgan Andersson replaced him. The Demo got a lot of very good reviews worldwide, and also more some proposals from different record companies but Sound Riot Records and its very friendly crew seemed to be the best choice and, after a lot of discussions VII GATES signed a deal with the Sound Riot Records. So, they recorded their debut album at Slaughterhouse Studios (references: Spiritual Beggars, Armageddon) in Sweden, and produced by Rickard Bengtsson of LAST TRIBE. Jon Blamire at legendary The Digital Audio Studios from UK mastered the album; references are Royal Hunt, Glenn Hughes, and Giant. The famous English artist David Wyatt did the CD front-cover, he have done artwork for Arena, and Glass Hammer. The debut album "Fire, Walk With Me" is released in 28 November 2003.
After just great reviews for their 3rd Demo entitled "The Madman Inside", it was more than evident that they would be able to do a fantastic album, and these Swedish men has got an ambitious album really! "Fire, Walk With Me" is a top production loaded with an extraordinary amount of great songs. Just killers, no fillers! A classic Heavy Metal for at the present time listeners. Fans of Melodic Rock also can get attract for them easily. VII GATES is an expert band that has a mature songwriting combined with creative melodies and a vocalist who matches the music perfect. Songs such as "Bounded By Hate", "Seconds To Left To Live, "The Saviour" and the power ballad "So Far Away" are true highlights that catch your attention in the first minute. There are also some guest appearances on the VII GATES album, but two of them are special appearances, Kee Marcello of EUROPE and Chris Amott of ARCH ENEMY. VII GATES are ready for rocks!!!
