Vulcano is one of the most important bands in the history of Brazilian metal. The band formed in 1981 in the city of Osasco in the state of São Paulo by Carli Cooper (bass), Zhema (guitars) and Paulo Magrão (guitars). In 1982 the band moved to the city of Santos. There they started open up shows for a rock band from São Paulo City called Made In Brazil. In 1983 drummer J. Piloni had joined the band and they recorded a single called "Om Pushne Namah" in eight hours on eight channels. Cooper and Magrão soon left Vulcano and were replaced with Johnny Hansen (guitars) and Renato (drums) as Zhema switched to bass. The band toured heavily in their native country which was difficult to match with the limited spare time of Hansen and Renato who left the band again, being replaced by Soto Júnior (guitars), Zé Flávio (bass), Laudir Piloni (drums) and Angel (vocals). In August of 1985 they recorded a show in the city of Americana for a live album. The band was now on its way to something big. They changed their lyrics from Portuguese to English and in 1986 they released their debut album "Bloody Vengeance" on the Brazilian label Cogumelo Records. The same year they also supported Venom and Exciter in Brazil. New line-up changes followed before the band was put to sleep, probably in 1990. Both Zhema and Paulo Magrão were later involved with a Creedance Clearwater Revival covers band called "The Travelin' Band" where they operated alongside Marcelo (vocals), Windson (guitars) and Arthur (drums).
