| Band biography |
Crowley wanted to work with people that he admired and respected within the underground music community. He first came in contact with ex-VITAL REMAINS singer Jeff Gruslin, who sang on LET US PRAY and INTO COLD DARKNESS. Gruslin agreed to sing for the band.
Later Crowley found out that ex-INCANTATION drummer Kyle Severn was living in the Columbus, Ohio area. Severn played on several INCANTATION classic albums. The two got together and hit it off great. They worked well together and decided to join forces.
Now it was time to find a Guitar player. The band was going to try out Jeff Elrod of WINDS OF THE BLACK MOUNTAIN, but he never made it to Columbus to try out for the group. So the seach continued.....
At this time, Crowley had been talking to DARK FUNERAL mastermind/guitarist Lord Ahriman. The Swedish Axe-man was perfect for the part, so Crowley asked if he would be interested. Crowley sent him a tape of the music, lyrics and concept and he was all for it. Even though he was from across the ocean, they would still make this work! Ahriman was then welcomed into the diabolical fold, as their Rhythm Guitarist.
One night when Crowley was on-line on his computer, he was talking to him friend Thomas Thorn of THE ELECTRIC HELLFIRE CLUB. He told Thorn about the project and asked if he'd like to add some keyboards, samples and vocals to the recordings. He said "Yes". Knowing that WOLFEN SOCIETY was still looking for a Lead Guitarist, Thorn recommended his guitarist Ricktor Ravensbruck from THE ELECTRIC HELLFIRE CLUB. Crowley, knowing Ravensbruck, now completed the circle with the two Hellfire members.
The unit was now complete. Now it was time to get together and record some Hymns of Hatred! Instead of recording MISANTHROPIC RACE, the band decided to record a mini-cd called "Conquer Divine", which would feature one new song, two songs from the upcoming full length album and a cover song of CARNIVORE's classic misanthropy theme "Race War". Before this happening, Gruslin contacted the other members and said he was stepping down from the project. He stated he was no longer interested in doing music anymore. So he and the band parted ways and Crowley took over the role of Lead Singer.
In Septemer 2000, this group of hate filled madmen met for the first time. Their first night out together ended up in chaos, ending in drunkened insanity and even a fight at a local bar. Now this is what WOLFEN SOCIETY was all about! Causing mayhem!
The next day, WOLFEN SOCIETY enter THORNAPPLE STUDIOS to record CONQUER DIVINE. The band got along and worked very well together. They worked on the recording all weekend long and completed it. After that they all went back home.
But bad news struck, when the engineer called Severn and told him that the songs had been erased! The only full song that survived was the demo version of "Race War". The band fought with the studio, but the end result was that they has to re-record the whole thing all over again. Thus delaying everything!
After this happened, Severn rejoined the mighty INCANTATION and Crowley reformed his Black/Death Metal abomination, ACHERON. DARK FUNERAL and THE ELECTRIC HELLFIRE CLUB were also keeping busy. But they worked it out to get together again and re-record.
In March 2001, the band got back together with Tommy Tagtgren and recorded again, in the same studio. They re-recorded all the songs they had done before, except for "Race War". Tagtgren then took the songs back to Sweden with him and mixed and mastered them at the infamous ABYSS STUDIOS.
The songs that would be featured on CONQUER DIVINE would be "Conquer Divine", "Blood Oath", "Life is War" and the demo version of "Race War". The mini-cd would be released on HOUSE OF DEATH RECORDS(usa) and NO FASHION RECORDS(europe).
Other problems came to life, delaying the release of CONQUER DIVINE. But everything has been worked out and a release date has been made for January 2002.
Since the recording, Thorn and Ravensbruck have left WOLFEN SOCIEY on good terms. Making CONQUER DIVINE a true collectors item for fans of THE ELECTRIC HELLFIRE CLUB. The band wishes them the best of luck with all their musical endeavors. Aaron Werner of ACHERON had replaced Thorn and a lead guitarist is still being sought out. WOLFEN SOCIETY stands for the hatred of ALL mankind. It does not support any form of politics. Hate is their Law! But they are not politically correct in any way and have been labeled as nazis, by narrow minded idiots. WOLFEN SOCIETY are not Nazis, they are worse! They hate EVERONE! So those who try to put labels on the band can "fuck off!”
Those who want to hear what these well known madmen have created should check out CONQUER DIVINE. Their music brings back the roots of underground metal, while adding refreshing modern ideas. You won't be let down! WOLFEN SOCIETY is destined to be another Cult band.
After the release of CONQUER DIVINE, the band plans to find an official record label and make time in the future to record their first full length album MISANTHROPIC RACE, which will feature the songs "Rise of Der Wolfen", "Blood Oath (Pactum Tacitum)", "Power and Might", "Godless World", "Armageddon Myth", "Order from Chaos", "Life is War", "Millennium's End" and "The New Age". So the madness will continue! WELCOME TO THE END OF THE WORLD, MOTHER FUCKERS!
