In December 2005 singer Steve Sindoni parted ways with Louisville, Kentucky, based metalcore act Breather Resist. The remaining members decided to continue as a trio with guitarist Evan Patterson (a veteran of Black Cross, the National Acrobat and other Louisville bands) adding vocal duties to his repertoire. In April 2006 they entered the studio in order to record a second Breather Resist album but since their musical direction headed more towards heavy noise rock moody post-punk instead of their early metallic hardcore aggression they decided to leave Breather Resist be and re-name the band. Thus Young Widows came to life.
The debut album, "Settle Down City", was released by Jade Tree in September, followed by two weeks of national touring and then a European tour with Seattle based act Akimbo. May 2007 saw the band out on the road with Louisville colleagues Coliseum and Pride Swallower.
