In the mid-eighties, Brooklyn, New York City was the forge for some of the hottest metal in the history of the genre. One of the flying sparks touched the heart of a 14 year old boy called George Tsalikis. And the flame of metal is still burning brightly in the heart of the singer and founder of ZANDELLE. Whilst synthetic bands such as Marilyn Manson, Papa Roach and Linkin Park may rule the American charts, ZANDELLE are working hard to put Melodic Heavy Metal back where it should be in the USA, namely right at the top where it belongs.
Besides the tremendous voice of George Tsalikis it is above all the incredibly sensitive and multifaceted, yet still no-compromise guitar work of the duo Anthony Maglio/T.W. Durfy, which makes ZANDELLE the epitome of America's current Melodic Power Metal scene.
ZANDELLE was formed in 1996 by former-Gothic Knights singer George Tsalikis. With the help of his friend Denis Gulbey (Sentinel Steel) they were able to release and distribute their first 6-track CD on the worldwide underground in the same year. Yet it wasn't until the release of their first full album, "Shadows Of Reality", distributed by Sentinel Steel, that they chalked up their first important media reviews.
In the meantime the many line-up changes had come to an end. The guitar duo Maglio/Durfy had established itself and with Bob Delmini ZANDELLE found the ideal drummer. The job of bass player, still vacant at the time of writing has been temporarily filled by former guitarist Joe Hartoularos.
It was as this strong formation that ZANDELLE began their quest by rising top of the almost non-existant New York underground metal scene. Shows with Savatage, Fates Warning, U.D.O., Saxon, Helstar and Pain Of Salvation, as well as a gig at the famous Milwaukee Metalfest brought them more and more fans and the interest in the band began to cross State and national borders.
ZANDELLE began recording their third album, "Twilight On Humanity", their best work to date, and signed a record contract with Limb Music Products, Germany.
"Twilight On Humanity" strongly underlines the leading role which ZANDELLE play in New York. Songs such as the opener hymn, 'Warlords Of Steel', the epic 'A Hero's Quest' and the twelve minute long title track strut through the grooves with ass-kicking melodies and loads of clever pieces of guitar work which span the entire range from powerful, driving metal riffs to sensitive solos. The song-writing talent and the musical capabilities of this band are re-paving the way for the return of US Power Metal.
