Band biography Upload photo
The Chicago based speed / power metal band Znowhite originally spelled their name as Snowhite when they formed in 1982 but rather quickly changed to the more unique one. It was a bit of an ironic name as all band members at that time were black musicians except for the front woman Nicole Lee. Lee was first engaged as the band's manager but later on found herself fronting the band. Znowhite recorded their first demo in only six hours in 1983 and sent it to record companies. The demo consisted of "Vengeance", "Never Felt Like This", "Something For Nothing" and "Hellbent". Brian Slagel of Metal Blade Records loved their sound and added their track "Hellbent" on the Metal Massacre III compilation. Another five-track demo was recorded in early 1984. The band believed that they would be signed by Megaforce Records for their debut album but since the deal never came through they released it on their own label EMA Polydisc with a distribution deal with major label Enigma. Many line-up changes followed throughout the years before the band finally came to an end in about 1989. Several former members then formed a new band called Cyclone Temple. At that time band leader Ian Tafoya also started using his real name Greg Fulton. Their live album was recorded at a show in Cleveland, Ohio, in December 1985.
