Killing Machine announce new bass player
Today
USA based metal band KILLING MACHINE, have revealed that former STRATOVARIUS and current EVERGREY bass guitarist Jari Kainulainen will be joining the band.

Jari will continue with his position in EVERGREY, but the chance to challenge himself in a different field with KILLING MACHINE was an opportunity he did not want to miss.

Commenting on joining the band Jari Kainulainen said "When Peter (Scheithauer) contacted me and asked me to join Killing Machine as replacement for David Ellefson, I had to check it out. And after listening to a few songs I knew straight away that this is something I definitely wanted to be a part of. I especially fell in love with the fast and blasting bass lines and kick ass guitar riffs., so it was an easy decision for me. I'm really looking forward to start playing with these guys."

On welcoming Jari to the band, guitarist Peter Scheithauer said: "First off, I am so thrilled that I can finally announce Jari Kainulainen as the new bass player!!! Once I was done with the demos it was time to think about getting the band together. I wanted people who were ready to tour - no egos. Plus returning to Europe I wanted someone we can hang with who was first and foremost a true metalhead. Csaba (Zvekan) and Jon (Dette) were already in and I knew David (Ellefson) was out of the question for the obvious reasons. I always loved Jari's playing, I saw him several time with Stratovarius and love Evergrey. If someone can play crazy bass lines and be creative it's him. And besides being an outstanding musician he is a very cool guy and at the end that's what really matters."

The completed KILLING MACHINE line up is Csaba Zvekan - Vocals, Peter Scheithauer (TEMPLE OF BRUTALITY / BELLADONNA) - Guitar, Jari Kainulainen (EVERGREY / STRATOVARIUS) - Bass Guitar, Jon Dette (TESTAMENT / SLAYER) - Drums.

KILLING MACHINE will re -locate to Europe for a series of summer shows and recording of the new album. The band have already confirmed an appearance at Germany's Headbangers Open Air Festival www.headbangers-open-air.de on 29th July 2010.

The band recently posted two new songs 'Skull and Bone' and 'Hell Raiser' at www.myspace.com/killingmachineusa

KILLING MACHINE have released two albums, the self titled 'Killing Machine' in 2000 via Candlelight Records and the critically acclaimed 'Metalmorphis' in 2006 via Mausoleum Records which has been hailed by many as one of the all time classic metal albums. The two albums featured a multitude of musicians including James Rivera (HELSTAR, VICIOUS RUMOURS), Jimmy DeGrasso (Y&T), Juan Garcia (AGENT STEEL), Dave Ellefson (MEGADETH), Stet Howland (WASP), Mike Duda (WASP), Mike Vescara (OBSESSION, LOUDNESS).

With two albums under their belts, the band are priming themselves to once again deliver metallic carnage across the globe.Unashamedly wearing their heavy metal roots on their leather studded sleeves, KILLING MACHINE combine the classic metal feel of the past with the fresh aggression of the present. Thunderous bass lines, pounding drums and explosive riffs blend with distinct heavy, melodic vocals to create driving and memorable songs. The music that KILLING MACHINE bring to the party simply stuns - no pretentions - just pure metal entertainment!

King of Asgard sign with Metal Blade Records
Yesterday
Metal Blade Records is proud to announce the signing of Swedish Viking Folk/Death Metal band KING OF ASGARD for the European territory.

KING OF ASGARD was formed in 2008 by Karl Beckman (ex-MITHOTYN) after dissolving his latest musical projects. Teaming up with long time absent fellow worker, Karsten Larsson (FALCONER), once accomplice in the defunct vikinghorde MITHOTYN. As a result, after years apart, the decision was made to go back to their roots both musically as well as heading for their Norse heritage in lyrical approach.

With creativity flowing, numerous songs were written and KING OF ASGARD recorded their 7-track demo Prince Of Märing at Lotang Studio that finally led to the deal with Metal Blade Records. In late 2009 Jonas Albrektsson joined the ranks on bass to strengthen the line-up further.

As we speak, KING OF ASGARD are busy recording their yet untitled debut album at Sonic Train Studio with Andy La Rocque (KING DIAMOND) at the helm. The scheme is to leave the studio with twelve dirty folk-stinking songs mould in extreme metal, reminding of times of old.

Comments KING OF ASGARD on the record deal with Metal Blade Records: "King of Asgard are very proud being signed under the banners of Metal Blade Records. Releasing records under such influential label will be an honour and we feel our future collaboration will be nothing but grandiose. We are very keen on seeing what this can bring us. So teaming up with Brian, Andreas and the rest of the Blade-staff is something we're easily throwing ourselves into and we're eagerly devoted on getting our debut out and heads rolling. Lets see if we can create a winter of three!"

KING OF ASGARD is featuring members of acts such as Mithotyn, Falconer, Thy Primordial, Indungeon and Dawn.

KING OF ASGARD:
Karl Beckman - guitar, vocals
Jonas Albrektsson - bass
Karsten Larsson - drums

As I Lay Dying studio update
Yesterday
AS I LAY DYING guitarist Phil Sgrosso is giving us a little update on the recordings of the bands new album The Powerless Rise!

"Hey everyone! We've been pretty busy the past few months. We're about several last minute pickscrapes/thunderchugs away from finishing ALL tracking for the Powerless Rise. We've had Colin Richardson and his assistant Martyn "Ginge" Ford out in San Diego working on mixes every day for about a month so far. It took a bit of time for us to get the guitar tone in the right place, but we've finally settled on something we all love and compliments the drums and bass quite nicely. Josh and Tim's vocals are sounding great as well. Colin and Ginge are doing a killer job!

Besides stopping by the studio a couple days a week, we've all been preparing to start up the next tour cycle. We've got an Australian/New Zealand run in late March, the Revolver awards April 8th in LA, followed by a US headliner that'll be going on right around the time our new record comes out. It's been nice being home most of the past year but it's time to get back out there with some new songs and an entirely new stage setup to intensify the live show. I've been missing that adrenaline rush from playing to our fans and I assure you the new songs will bring our live energy to a new level. Keep an eye out, we'll be coming to you soon…"

More details and the release date for The Powerless Rise will be announced shortly!

Slipknot drummer joins Rob Zombie
2010-03-06
New York, NY: SLIPKNOT drummer Joey Jordison will spend the spring and summer of 2010 pounding the skins for new labelmate ROB ZOMBIE, who is embarking on a very busy touring schedule.

Zombie said, “Joey is an absolutely crushing drummer and I am thrilled to have him as part of the Zombie family. His amazing skills promise to take the live show to a whole new level of insanity.” Jordison also commented, saying, “I am honored, proud and excited to announce that I have joined the ranks as the new touring drummer for Rob Zombie. I’ve been a fan of Zombie’s since the beginning. I’ve toured with them and have always wanted to play for them. When John 5 called me up to ask if I knew any drummers I could recommend, I said, only half-jokingly, ‘Yeah, me!”

Jordison is universally recognized as not only one of the best drummers in hard rock, but as one of the most talented skinsmen in music, period. He will be sitting behind the kit for several appearances and tours throughout the year, namely the “Gruesome Twosome” tour, which features Zombie along with his longtime pal, Alice Cooper, which begins April 26 in Canada and runs through May 5 in Wyoming. Following that historic tour, Jordison will tour alongside Zombie as part of the 2010 Rock Star Energy Drink Mayhem Festival, which Zombie is co-headlining with Korn. That tour kicks off July 10 in Southern California and runs through August 14 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

“This show and set-list is mind blowing, and what better way to kick off than with the ‘Gruesome Twosome’ tour with horror-rock legend Alice Cooper,” Jordison said. “I want to thank all the Slipknot fans for their support and the Rob Zombie fans for welcoming me in. The Demonoid Phenomenon is on its way!"

Jordison will make his debut with Zombie at the 2010 Revolver Golden Gods Awards, held on April 8, at Club Nokia in Los Angeles. Zombie will be closing out the evening’s awards ceremony with what is sure to be a “must see” performance.

For the last year, we have been intensely working on our craft while re-examining our past with a perspective we'd never had before. Our vision is clear and we know exactly who and what we are today. FORBIDDEN is in an amazing creative space and we can't wait for everyone to hear it! We began recording on March 1st.
We must thank Jaap Wagemaker and everyone else at Nuclear Blast for making their enthusiasm known to us since we've committed to writing this record. It is no secret that the staff of Nuclear Blast has a soft spot for thrash metal! We all grew up here with classics such as "Forbidden Evil" and "Twisted into Form"!
I am sure you can imagine that we were totally thrilled when we heard the news that FORBIDDEN were coming back and after seeing them live several times since then and seeing them doing a smoking rendition of "Twisted into Form" it was totally clear to us! FORBIDDEN needs a new home and that home is called Nuclear Blast! This feeling became even bigger after Craig had sent us the 2 new songs last year! Needless to say that a dream is coming true!
The future belongs to FORBIDDEN and together with Nuclear Blast, we will bring the band back on the metal map! What the future will bring? I cannot tell you! Cause it is..... forbidden!"

Dream Theater to tour with Iron Maiden
2010-03-06
New York, NY: Prog rock/metal icons will spend their summer supporting IRON MAIDEN on the band’s month-long tour of major US and Canadian markets. The tour launches on June 9 and runs through July 20, and includes a stop at the storied Madison Square Garden in NYC, marking the first time in a lengthy and respected career that Dream Theater will have played the world’s most famous arena. This tour will mark another milestone in Dream Theater’s history, which continues to expand and evolve, twenty-five years deep.

Of touring with Iron Maiden in North America, drummer Mike Portnoy said, “It is a bit of a dream come true for us. After 25 years together, at this stage in our career, there's honestly only three bands Dream Theater would consider opening for and Maiden is one of them. It is an absolute honor. Through the years, we've done many one-off shows with Maiden and they've almost all been overseas. It is very exciting to finally be doing a full tour with them and on our side of the pond, no less. These are gonna be amazing shows that the fans won't want to miss. Up the f***ing irons!”

Playing MSG for the first time is also a huge accomplishment for the band and they are thrilled about the prospect. “Dream Theater has achieved so many dreams through the years, from playing the Budokan in Tokyo to Wembley Arena in London to Radio City Music Hall in NYC,” Portnoy recalled. “But the one remaining dream that has eluded us through all of these years was to play at Madison Square Garden. Well, on July 12, along with Iron Maiden, that dream will finally be fulfilled.”

Guitarist John Petrucci was equally stoked about the MSG play, saying, “I am unbelievably excited to be finally playing Madison Square Garden, and with the almighty Maiden to boot! They have been heroes to the band since the beginning and are iconic in our eyes. There is nothing like achieving success and recognition in your own country, in your own city. It's going to be an incredible night for sure.”

Portnoy has proof of this career-long dream, saying, “About a month ago, my family and I were watching a video of my first band Intruder from back in 1983, and in the video before the show, I was interviewed and asked what my dream goal was. I responded ‘To play the Garden.’ It took almost 30 years, but it’s surreal that I will now be able to check it off the list.”

Dream Theater’s Black Clouds & Silver Linings was released in 2009 and debuted at #6 on the Billboard Top 200 Sales chart.

Influenced as much by the speed metal bands of the late '80s as traditional NWOBHM and cult Swedish demos, ENFORCER are truly a metal powerhouse.

Thanks to their appearance on Earache's 'Heavy Metal Killers' compilation, ENFORCER kicked open the floodgates for the return of traditional heavy metal, paving the way for many other young bands to follow. With critical acclaim pouring in from fans and the international music press, ENFORCER wasted no time taking their show on the road gaining rabid fans at every stop, touring across Europe and North America.

Vocalist Chris Catanzaro explains the concept behind the song: "This song was written to describe a point in "Threnody" which our traveler is within a dream, a dream that is one of the few points in his journey that he experiences any semblance of peace and serenity." Read the full explanation and hear the song on MetalSucks.net HERE. Tempting The Wretch will be live at 1pm EST on MetalSucks.net.
