|Weapon sign with Relapse Records||
Relapse Records is proud to announce the signing of the blackened death metal juggernaut WEAPON.
WEAPON (Vetis Monarch: guitars and vocals, Kha Tumos: bass, Apostle VIII: guitar, The Disciple: drums) have previously released two full-length albums including the acclaimed From The Devil’s Tomb (2010). WEAPON is currently writing the follow-up to From The Devil’s Tomb which promises to be a more vicious strain of their all-out-evil blackened death.
Vetis Monarch commented on the recent signing and upcoming album; “Weapon is ready to take over the world, and our signing with a legendary label like Relapse Records is a key element in achieving that goal. We are in the process of writing the follow-up album to 'From The Devil's Tomb', and all our supporters can rest assured that the new material is a direct continuation of the sinister and violent music we have delivered thus far. Onwards and upwards by the blessing of Lucifer..."
WEAPON has confirmed a handful of western Canada tour dates for later this month alongside TOXIC HOLOCAUST and HOLY GRAIL. The band will also perform at this year’s Rites of Darkness Festival held in early December in San Antonio, TX.
|69 Chambers sign with Massacre Records||
Swiss metal/rock four piece 69 CHAMBERS comprises Nina Treml on guitar and vocals, Maddy Madarasz on bass and backing vocals, Diego Rapacchietti on drums and Tommy Vetterli on guitars.
You might be thinking a band with a line-up like that just can’t be the real deal. You might be wrong.
Nina lays down masses of hefty guitars that chug and grind in a very deliberate fashion as Maddy’s bass adds thump to the sound and Diego’s drumming drives the thunderous machine along effortlessly.
Their debut "War On The Inside" was produced by Tommy Vetterli at New Sound Studio in Pfäffikon,
Switzerland and released in 2009 via Silverwolf Productions.
With numerous live performances – amongst others at Hellfest France, MFVF Belgium and Open Air Lumnezia Switzerland – 69 CHAMBERS have gained an international reputation and an increasing number of fans around the world.
They’re currently working on their second studio album which is scheduled to be released in autumn 2011.
69 CHAMBERS are a minefield of contradictions. A place where brutality meets pop sensibility and down tuned riffs, battering drums and a driving bass collide with infectious melody.
69 CHAMBERS Lineup:
Nina Treml - guitar, vocals
Maddy Madarasz – bass, backing vocals
Diego Rapacchietti – drums
Tommy Vetterli – guitars
|Darkane back with original lineup||
A couple of days ago DARKANE's former vocalist Jens Broman has posted the following statement on the band's website:
"I will leave Darkane. This has to do with personal issues. At the moment my life is in a phase where I’m unable to find inspiration for new adventures with Darkane and therefore it’s best for me to pass on the mic. I will miss you all, the tours, all you dedicated fans and most of all my band mates. But know that Darkane have found a superb replacement in Lawrence Mackrory
Good luck and stay metal!"
"Darkane would like to wish Jens the best of luck in the future.
Lawrence, who sang on our debut album Rusted Angel (1999) and did a guest appearance on Chaos vs. Order from Expanding Senses (2002), will make his new debut with Darkane in Strasbourg, France September 20th when our European headlining tour will start, together with Destinity and Devastating Enemy. We are all very excited about the future, and are also working hard on the new album. We recently finished building the studio that we’ve been working on over the last 18 months, and we are very satisfied."
"It is with great pleasure I can finally announce my return to Darkane. I have been waiting for this opportunity to appear and finally the time was right for me to continue what we started 13 years ago. Both Andreas and Jens have done a tremendous job with the band, which will keep me on my toes while performing live for sure.
Now, the chemistry between the five of us is more vibrant than ever and I can't wait to go on tour and perform songs from all five albums. The new Darkane album is already in the works and I can guarantee that all fans, both old and new, will enjoy this record. So far the demos sound awesome, let's just leave it at that. I'm looking forward to finally meeting all Darkane-fans on the road.
See you real soon!"

|Bullet sign with Nuclear Blast||
A new chapter will be added to the success story of Swedish up-and-comers BULLET, whose boundless love to 80s Heavy Metal led to the band’s founding a decade ago. The passionate metal quartet around vocalist Hell Hofer and guitarist Hampus Klang will be part of the big Nuclear Blast family from now on! With three successful albums - of which two could even get rank 3 in Swedish charts – and numerous tours, for example together with their fellow countrymen of HammerFall and Sabaton in 2009, the gunslingers were able to achieve a wide and solid fanbase. And as for the future, BULLET still got quite a few hot bullets in the bull barrel!
Full of euphoria, the band comments their signing with Nuclear Blast as follows: “Finally we have signed a deal with Nuclear Blast! We’ve always been a band with a lot of ideas and now it’s time to let them all loose.
We think Nuclear Blast is the right label to help us out to make better records, cooler shows and more of everything that you’ve come to know as BULLET. We are really looking forward to releasing a new album on Nuclear Blast, because it is a great chance for us to reach new crowds and countries. BULLET will always be BULLET, hate it or love it. Now is the time to make it more powerful. STAY WILD!”
On the part of Nuclear Blast, the pleasure is great as well. “We’re highly delighted to welcome BULLET at the Nuclear Blast family. The boys of BULLET aren’t only downright likeable and honest guys, they also live their music and embody the original spirit of Rock’n’Roll. BULLET are superb on their albums as well as live on stage and we’re noticing a constant development. Now we want to vault the ´Highway Pirates´ into a higher division”, states Andy Siry, head of A&R.

|Century Media pull out of Spotify||
Century Media and its associated labels “InsideOutMusic”, “Superballmusic” and “People Like You” have decided to pull their repertoire from Spotify in an attempt to protect the interests of their artists.
While everyone at the label group believes in the ever changing possibilities of new technology and new ways of bringing music to the fans, Century Media is also of the opinion that Spotify in its present shape and form isn’t the way forward. The income streams to the artists are affected massively and therefore that accelerates the downward spiral, which eventually will lead to artists not being able to record music the way it should be recorded. Ultimately, in some cases, it will completely kill a lot of smaller bands that are already struggling to make ends meet.
At the same time Century Media also believes that Spotify is a great tool to discover new music and is in the process of reintroducing their bands to Spotify by way of putting up samplers of the artists. This way, fans can still discover the great music released by the label.
Physical sales are dropping drastically in all countries where Spotify is active. Artists are depending on their income from selling music and it is our job to support them to do so. Since the artists need to sell their music to continue their creativity, Spotify is a problem for them. This is about survival, nothing less and it is time that fans and consumers realize that for artists it is essential to sell music to keep their heads above water.
Obviously it is ultimately up to the music fan and consumer, how they access their music, whether it is buying, streaming or stealing. There needs to be awareness though, that how you will consume your music has direct consequences for the artists, who we are all trying to support.
|Melechesh on tour with new bassist||
Sumerian black/thrash metal kings MELECHESH will present their new bass player at the upcoming festivals.
Founder, mainman, vocalist and guitarist Ashmedi explains: ”The relationship is in a strict tryout phase which will allow the bass player to find his way into the band and to see if he fits in well. Additionally – as often before – Moloch won’t be able to be part of the live line-up on our European tour as well as on two festivals due to his PHD finalisation and other commitments, which he had to reschedule because of our previous US and European tours. But as always we’ll have a trusted backup guitarist who toured with us in the past. See you on the road! Get ready for Sumerian Sonic Magick!”

|Sourvein rejoined by bass player||
Cape Fear doom kings, SOURVEIN are excited to announce the return of original bassist, Joshua ''JC Fari" Crapo, who played with the band from 1993 - 2001 and again from 2003 - 2006. Fari held down the low-end duties on both SOURVEIN's self-titled full-length and the He's No Good To Me Dead compilation (featuring SOURVEIN alongside Grief, Bongzilla, Negative Reaction and Subsanity) among other compilations as well as the Will To Mangle demos. Fari also played guitar on the band's split with Buzzov*en in 1995.
Fari relocated to Austin after Hurricane Katrina flooded his New Orleans apartment and studio in 2005 and left the band in 2006, following a successful tour of the UK with Remesses, to focus on his family. Since then, he's been raising his son and working as a recording engineer. As of this summer, Fari is finally able to commit to touring and recording with SOURVEIN full time.
Fari will join vocalist T-Roy and co. for the band's West Coast leg of the Black Fangs world tour in October.
The SOURVEIN collective wishes to extend its gratitude to Ahmasi O'Daniel (The Misanthrone Project) and Dave Sherman (Earthride) filling in on bast the past few tours.
Black Fangs was released via Candlelight Records on June 21.
|God Forbid sign with Victory Records||
We are excited to announce the signing of New Brunswick, New Jersey's melodic, thrash-metal warriors, GOD FORBID, to a merchandising, publishing and recording deal. Both VICTORY RECORDS and GOD FORBID are veterans at their respective crafts, so it would seem that fate has now pieced together two longstanding staples of the hardcore and metal scenes. This marks the next chapter for GOD FORBID, a band that has sold 300,000+ albums over the last decade.... "We are so excited to be a part of the VICTORY family. We are very proud to bring our music too all the maniacs out there who are fans of the band as well as this label. We look forward to starting a powerful partnership which will bring a new energy to the metal world." Corey, GOD FORBID.|
|Craft to receive North American release||
Erupting forth from the filthiest ranks of the underworld, the long-awaited new album from Swedish black metal horde, CRAFT, is finally upon us!
Diehards of CRAFT’s vicious, orthodox black metal bombardment have been seething in anticipation of this album for years, their immensely praised/feared 2005-released Fuck The Universe full-length having infected the metal community on impressive new levels for this previously cult outfit. But 2011 will bring that wait to a crushing end, with the release of the band’s fourth LP, Void. Delivering a nine-track convoy of punishing black hymns over forty nine-minutes, Void does not just pick up where Fuck The Universe left off, rather it also explores some crushing new angles, as well as revisits some of CRAFT’s earlier, scathing days, and wholly channels the band’s obvious, endless hate unto the human population.
Void Track Listing:
1. Intro (John's Nightmare)
2. Serpent Soul
3. Come Resonance Of Doom
4. The Ground Surrenders
5. Succumb To Sin
6. Leaving The Corporal Shade
7. Want To Commit Murder
8. Bring On The Clouds
Void is set to pollute the North American masses on September 27, 2011, once again under the reign of Southern Lord Recordings, the label having also been responsible for the release of Fuck The Universe to the continent.

|Les Discrets to release split EP||
Since Fursy Teyssier's work on the artwork of Arctic Plateau's debut album "On A Sad Sunny Day" a special artistic relationship has flourished between the masterminds of the musical projects Les Discrets and Arctic Plateau. Now this friendship is being celebrated with the release of a limited split EP.
"Les Discrets / Arctic Plateau" is out on September 2nd and will be available as Digisleeve 2CD (ltd. 1.000) and vinyl LP (ltd. 500).
On Les Discrets' side of the split EP fans will get a first impression of the upcoming second album by Fursy Teyssier's band: the track "Le Mouvement Perpétuel" will also be featured on the upcoming album but comes as alternatively mixed/mastered version on this EP only. "The Persuaders" is a cover version of the homonymous tv series' theme song and will exclusively be featured on this release!
On Arctic Plateau's side the track "Music's Like..." will offer a taste of the upcoming album "The Enemy Inside". The demo songs "Amethyst To #F" and "Ivory" are of special historical relevance as these are the songs which led to Arctic Plateau's contract with Prophecy Productions in 2008 and are now being released for the first time ever and exclusive to this release.
|Rue album details revealed||
Akron, Ohio-based sludge metal bastards RUE have again planted their vile seed, and in these putrid days of Summer, in this foul Year Of Our Lord 2011, these corruptive crops are nearing harvest. The vines that shall sprout forth will take the form of Thorns, RUE's first new release in over three years, and their first on CD in over seven.
Preceded by their 2003 self-titled CD (re-released later on LP), a split CD with Aldebaran in 2004, and their 2008 vinyl-only A Heart Held by Demons EP, RUE’s newly completed Thorns is a full-length affair, comprised of twelve new life-ruining anthems clocking in around an hour in duration. The album bears marks of progress for RUE, the band having spent the last four years honing their craft, cultivating influences and focusing wholly on creating their best music ever. Here they wander paths familiar to some of their more expansive influences such as Neurosis, High On Fire, Deftones and Mastodon and more, yet Thorns is fully infected by the same scathing animosity the thugs are infamous for throughout the sludge metal circuit, all the while placing an emphasis on pulverizing your existence into a gritty puddle.
The CD pressing of Thorns is set for release through independent stalwart Shifty Records on October 4th, 2011 -- through whom the entire RUE catalog to date has been released -- and an LP pressing will follow at a later date. Without a doubt, Thorns promises to be one of the sludge metal scene’s top exports of the year.
Thorns Track Listing:
3. For Thousands of Years
5. Broken Arms Broken Wings
6. Storm and Sea
9. Strong Will Evolve
10. High Iron Blues
12. A Walk of Lies
13. Thorns (Reprise)
Over several tours and regional shows over the years, RUE have hammered the U.S. alongside Weedeater, Bongzilla, Rwake, YOB, Dot[.], Graves At Sea, Zoroaster, Keelhaul, Goatwhore, Eyehategod, Mushroomhead, -16-, Alabama Thunderpussy, Meatjack, High on Fire, Unsane, and countless more, and plan on continuing the tradition throughout the year and into next in support of Thorns, starting with several upcoming appearances including the Mutants of the Monsters Fest on September 4th where RUE will appear as one of the co-headliners of the fest along Rebreather, Rwake, Suplecs, Deadbird, and featuring tons of killer support acts.
RUE - Confirmed Live Assaults:

9/04/2011 Downtown Music - Little Rock, AR @ Mutants of the Monsters Fest
