One of the most anticipated and talked about reunions was without a doubt the reformation of EARTH CRISIS, which was followed by a massive North American tour as well as a number of European shows mounting in a truly triumphant return. The pioneers of the hardcore, straightedge movement have now officially made the decision to carry on with the band fulltime and are proud to announce a new worldwide deal with Century Media Records.
EARTH CRISIS have crafted their most angst ridden and unrelenting offering of their career and this effort is going to serve as a much needed wake up call to the masses. The group will self produce the album and are set to begin tracking next month. The acclaimed Tue Madsen (Sick Of It All, Dark Tranquillity, The Haunted) will handle mixing and mastering duties. Scott Crouse (guitar) further comments: “We are very excited to begin tracking our new record and even more excited that it will be released by Century Media. We have been working hard over the last year preparing new material and are scheduled to enter the studio in October. We will be producing this one ourselves and are extremely excited to have Tue Madsen mixing! The new songs are brutal and Century Media is the perfect label to handle them.” EARTH CRISIS’ chugging riffs and barked declarations served as the mouthpiece of the militant vegan, straight-edge movement throughout the '90s, detailing the ideas of animal and human liberation, drug-free living, and personal empowerment through hardcore song. This movement spawned activists who took the law into their own hands, burning down fur farms and freeing animals directly. Their vicious debut EP, “Firestorm”, was a landmark release for the hardcore scene that combined staccato, solo-free metal with barking, political, and militant vocals. The lyrics centered around the dangers of drug abuse and bringing “violence against violence” to drug dealers and those who would abuse animals: “a firestorm to purify”. Major media outlets such as CNN, CBS and MTV soon started covering EARTH CRISIS and vegan, straight-edge in general. In 1996, the band released their second full-length album, “Gomorrah’s Season Ends”, a polished and decidedly more metallic affair that produced even more anthems that became singalong worthy staples of their live performances. This exposed the band to a whole new mainstream audience. In 2009, EARTH CRISIS prepares to unleash a firestorm of epic proportions proving that their message is more viable than ever. | |

Starting with this weekend's show in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, ORDER OF ENNEAD guitarist, Kevin Quirion will join Glen Benton, Steve Asheim and Jack Owen to be a touring guitarist with the legendary death metal innovators, DEICIDE.
Let the man himself, Kevin Quirion fill you in on the details: "DEICIDE needed a guitarist and I happened to be standing right there. I'll be doing the Ft. Lauderdale show Sept 13th, 4 dates in Italy (Sept 18-21) and whatever else comes up. This will tide me over until ORDER OF ENNEAD starts their touring cycle, which we hope to be very significant. Steve Asheim plays in both bands and Jack Owen will be playing guitar with ORDER OF ENNEAD so there will be no conflict of scheduling." Of course, it's not a case of all work and no play for DEICIDE's newfound touring guitarist. It's been a big honor for Quirion thus far: "I've been listening to DEICIDE since 1990 so it's a real pleasure jamming with them. I've learned 19 songs over the last couple weeks and rehearsing with the guys 3 times a week and everything is sounding tight and massive." DEPTHS is the newly unveiled title of the 2009 debut album from eternally pissed off Chicagoans, OCEANO. When asked about the title's meaning, OCEANO guitarist, Andrew Mikhail stated "It means many things to us and can mean many things to others. It could relate to hell, oceans, heaviness or a ton of other stuff. We just thought that when you hear our music, there's an everlasting association between us and all sorts of different types of depths out there. Whether it be emotional, physical or whatever else, the connection is unmistakable."
OCEANO's debut album, DEPTHS will contain 13 tracks (15 in Japan) of the angriest deathcore cuts ever committed on record alongside a limited edition bonus DVD. DEPTHS is due for release in 2009. OCEANO will be heading into the studio this October to record DEPTHS with producer Joey Sturgis (THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA, MY CHILDREN MY BRIDE) at The Foundation Studios in Connersville, IN. With an increasing reputation for being a highly aggressive and dangerous live act, OCEANO guitarist, Andrew Mikhail promises to bring all the anger that they possess on stage into the studio and capture it for all time when making DEPTHS in October. "We're gonna turn our anger up a few notches for this record. If that means we have to throw chairs at the mixing booth glass and tear the studio to bits to get us there - so be it." Alongside songs that have long been a part of OCEANO's set like "Samael The Destroyer" and "Inhuman Affliction," the band plans to record many new songs that will surely smash the very limits of what "heavy" is. According to Mikhail, "There's a lot more going on musically with the new material." Z are pleased to announce the
signing of Canadian act MAYCHILD. The band where brought to our
attention by non other than Von Groove frontman and all round nice guy
Mike Shotton who also plays drums etc on the release. May Child was
founded by Montreal guitarist and composer Yvan Roberge. His passion
started at the age of 12 and soon after he started playing with bands
on the local scene. After playing with numerous bands he started
working on his songwriting. All this led him to start his own project
called "May Child". This gave Yvan the opportunity to gain
experience in writing, recording, and producing.
In 2006 May Child caught the attention of producer Corey Macfadyen
(Serial Joe, Sue Foley, Brighton Rock), teaming up with Corey brought
the production of the debut album. The players include: Marc Spenard
(vocals), Michael Shotton (drums), Corey Macfadyen (bass) and Yvan
Roberge (guitars). All songs on the album were written to be accessible
to a large demographic of listeners, without compromising the integrity
of the material which is "all about the songs". The bands

Flo: "This was definitely one of the toughest decisions I had to make, and it was really hard to face the fact that I’m truly giving up on this band. There are a lot of reasons that have brought me to this, but I don’t wanna talk shit or blame anyone for the trouble we had with and within the band. Instead I wanna thank everyone for the good times I had while being in this band, all the people I have met, the places I have seen just by playing music and doing what I love. Dutch metallic hardcore heroes BORN FROM PAIN have completed recording their new album, ‘Survival’, for a late October/early November release via Metal Blade Records. The band states about the CD, which is currently being mixed and mastered: "It’s musically as uncompromising as ever with an own twist in groove, melody, heaviness and harshness. Lyrically more than ever making a critical and uncompromising stand concerning the state of the world today."
Regarding the new album's lyrical theme, the band writes: "In the year 2008 the world is more than ever in a state of disarray and chaos. The powers that be do not seem to care about the people they claim responsibility for or feed their wealth. Nature is raped. People are misled. Sadly, his condition didn't get better over the last 8 months and was advised by doctors not to go back to the intense drumming schedule in fear of permanent damage to his arm. Obviously, Roel thought it was better for the band to continue without him. Roel is currently back on his physiotherapy schedule and might have to be operated.
