| Too Pure To Die in the studio |
2008-08-28
|
|
TOO PURE TO DIE are set to release their Trustkill debut album 'Confess' (January 13, 2009), co-produced by Zeuss (THROWDOWN, SHADOWS FALL) and HATEBREED frontman Jamey Jasta. Check out in-studio photos of the band and Zeuss above (or click here).
TPTD has already created a huge underground buzz and reputation for making real time music that goes the distance, deemed by Alternative Press one of the 'Bands To Watch In 2008.' Their latest effort 'Confess' is as impossible to describe as it is to ignore. Equal parts pure hardcore fury, heavy metal majesty and some of the most accomplished songwriting and production on this side of the rock n' roll divide. "We are all very excited to release the new songs we have been working so hard on! The album is a first time contribution for some of us and it has brought on a renewed energy. We incorporated elements of everything from melody and rock, to metal, and of course, breakdowns. There is a blend of something for everyone on this record! Lyrically it touches on real life situations and struggles that one would face on a day to day basis. I've never been one to write about getting my heart broken or whining about things no one gives a shit about. I've always preferred to "keep it real" and this new record is as real as it gets. We have very high expectations for the new material and feel it returns to where we came from but is also a step toward the future!" - Paul Zurlo 'Confess' is a triumphant testament to a band that, from day one, insisted on doing it their way and has... come what may.

Italian/Danish power-thrash metal act CHAOSWAVE has inked a deal with the American label Nightmare Records. The group's new album, "Dead Eye Dreaming", will be released in North America on November 25. The European release date will be anounced soon.
"Dead Eye Dreaming" (see cover artwork below) will contain 11 songs and almost an hour's worth of music. The CD was mixed earlier this year by Andy La Rocque (KING DIAMOND) and features a special guest appearance by Steve Smyth, former guitarist of NEVERMORE and TESTAMENT. Commented Smyth: "I first heard CHAOSWAVE a few years ago while on tour with NEVERMORE, and absolutely loved that they had a heavy, progressive metal sound, combined with a male-female vocal duo that sound huge, and very unique together. Everyone in this band is a top-notch musician! I am very pleased to have been asked and contributed solos to the band's new album, which I believe is sure to snap many ears in their direction this year!" "Dead Eye Dreaming" track listing: 01. 10 Years of Denial 02. Fork Tongues and Foul Times (with Steve Smyth) 03. How to Define a Race 04. A March for the Dying (with Steve Smyth) 05. | Brain Drill announce new drummer |

|
Northern CA technical Death Metal outfit BRAIN DRILL has just announced Joe Bondra of Pennsylvania as their new drummer. Video footage of Joe covering Brain Drill songs along with songs the band recorded with him when he came to the bay area just this past weekend has been posted at BRAIN DRILL's MySpace page (HERE).
"I always thought that BRAIN DRILL was one of the most brutal bands in the Death Metal scene, and now I am extremely excited to be part of that band and I am even more amped to be able to start playing shows and work on our new material" comments Joe Bondra BRAIN DRILL is now looking to recruit a new bass player. If you are interested send the band a video or mp3 showcasing your skills as a bass player. An audio file is fine but the band prefers video if possible. You can post your tryout on YouTube or MySpace TV and then send the link to the band by emailing it to bookingbraindrill@gmail.com or via their MySpace page. BRAIN DRILL would prefer it if you are from the bay area or somewhere in California, but it is fine if you are in another part of the country as long as you are willing to relocate or travel frequently. BRAIN DRILL are NOT going to fly you out to California so please make sure you will be able to travel if you are serious about joining the band. Persons trying out for the open position in the band definitely need to have a valid driver's license, no drug or women problems, be able to drive 8-10 hours at a time, and someone who will be able to tour once the band gets back out onto the road.

There is no doubt that one of the most anticipated new albums of 2009 is the eagerly awaited offering from the Italian sensation LACUNA COIL, but to tide fans over until then the group announce the title and details of their first-ever DVD release; Visual Karma (Body, Mind and Soul).
The double DVD, which is a celebration of all things from the band’s Karmacode album and subsequent touring cycle will be released on Nov. 25th in North America, and will include: • Remixed and remastered live performances recorded in 2007 at the Loudpark Festival (Japan) and Wacken Festival (Germany). • The band member’s individual personal mini-movie features. • All of the promo videos from the Karmacode album. • Behind-the-scenes tour features filmed around the world. • 10 competition winning, fan-created videos. • A link and key to the band’s new album preview website! • Plus much more! A “Limited Edition” 4 Disc Package will include: • A 5.1 mix of the "Karmacode" album on audio DVD. • A bonus CD with the Wacken Open Air audio live material. A detailed track listing and cover art information will be released shortly. Andrea Ferro (co-vocalist) further comments: “In the past we’ve been asked a million times about when we were gonna put out a band DVD. Truthfully, we never felt like it was a priority, and we didn’t want to release something just because the market was asking for it. “The Karmacode tour brought us to many different places around the world for the first time and we managed to record some of those great, outstanding shows where the interaction with the people was just magic. This DVD is a beautiful reminder of where we have been in the past three years with all our body, mind and soul.”

D.T. has parted ways with longtime bass player Michael Nicklasson. All booked shows will go on as scheduled with a session bassist. We thank Michael for his time in the band and wish him the best of luck in future endeavors. Here is a statement from him:
"After almost 10 years and tons of tours and festivals, I chose to leave D.T. for personal reasons. It's been so cool all this time to meet all the people and the tons of fans around the world, and all the friends that I got during this amazing journey - crew, fans and all the people I (we) worked with. I can't name everyone, as the list would take up all the space on the web site, but I'm going to miss all of you that worked and supported us (me) during these years, but this is the right thing to do, I really need a break." "There are no hard feelings in the band; it's a thing that we all felt was the best for DT. Now I'm going to kick back for a while, and then I'll see what's in the future for me. I wish the best for the rest off the boys in my old crew, and to all: I'm coming back in one way or another......thanks to all off you! Cheers!"

Continuing to live up to the slogan of "diversity in extremes," Century Media Records is proud to announce a licensing agreement with Dark Essence Records that sees DEAD TO THIS WORLD and HELHEIM join the Century Family for the North American territories. Both bands are scheduled to release their first albums for Century Media on November 11th.
DEAD TO THIS WORLD was formed in Bergen, Norway in 2002 by Iscariah (Necrophagia, ex-Immortal) after his departure from Immortal. Originally formed as a solo project, Iscariah later recruited the mighty Kvitrafn (ex-Gorgoroth) behind the kit and has since tapped Thurzur (bass) and Divra Xul (guitar) to round out the lineup. Their debut album, First Strike for Spiritual Renewance, was recorded at Conclave & Earshot Studio with producer Bjørnar Nilsen. Having formed in 1992, HELHEIM are one of Norway's oldest and most revered Viking Metal bands. The band's sixth album, Kaoskult, shows that with age comes maturity as the band unleashes their most progressive album yet. With their Century Media debut, HELHEIM focuses on the monumental and epic versus speed and brutality. Recorded by Bjørnar Nilsen, Kasoskult is an epic masterpiece that metal fans will enjoy!

| Oceano banned from US clubs |
2008-08-26
|
|
Recent Earache signings, Chicago, IL deathcore band, OCEANO have already had a set of raw and masochistic photos banned from MySpace and the band is now being banned from several clubs around the country, due in part to those very photos
Thanks to the overwhelming hysteria surrounding OCEANO's controversial promo pictures, a large number of messages have been pouring into the band's MySpace page from clubs across the country. Here's an example: "It has been brought to our attention that there were some images of the band that were banned from myspace. Because we are an all ages, family friendly venue we pride ourselves on providing a positive atmosphere for the kids that come in to see shows. Unfortunately, because of those images and the lyrics to the songs we have found there is no way you guys will be able to meet those guidelines" Members of OCEANO have been in contact with several local promoters and club owners to try and explain their side of things. However, between the shock of the banned photos and the band's ever-growing reputation as a dangerous live act, OCEANO's words have been to little avail. "Everyone's been getting word that we're crazy and our fans are even crazier;" says OCEANO guitarist, Andrew Mikhail. "We're pros! We're not out to kill anyone. There are some promoters who have refused to book us because of the type of music we play and how crazy we can make our fans." Due to the overwhelming response from fans in Ohio, OCEANO were able to play a previously-banned club on their most recent U.S. tour. According to the intimidating OCEANO ax man, "It was a very nice christian venue, so with the content of those banned photos, I could see why they initially had a problem with us. It was because of our fans, though, that they were willing to listen to us and we ended up playing the show after all." The same cannot yet be said about the other venues that refuse to book the heaviest, most pissed off band on the planet. At this point, according to Mikhail, "Maybe it's time to start living up to people's expectations and become a truly deadly band." Sarcastically, he jests "If people think that we're going to go out and chop up some girls like pieces of meat (like in those pictures), maybe we should just start murdering people on stage...that'll show em"

| Order Of Ennead with Deicide's Jack Owen |
2008-08-21
|
|
ORDER OF ENNEAD has tapped DEICIDE's, Jack Owen to fill in for guitarist, John Li for the ONE NIGHT ONLY show in Florida this September featuring DEICIDE, ORDER OF ENNEAD and ADRIFT. Li will not be able to play the show due to unavoidable, longstanding commitments. Owen, who also plays in the hard rock outfit, ADRIFT, will be pulling triple duty at this show, playing for all 3 bands on the bill. Despite having the large task of playing for 3 bands in one night in front of him, that fact does not seem to be phasing him. According to ORDER OF ENNEAD vocalist/guitarist, Kevin Quirion, Owen is handling the band's material very well. "We had our first practice with him (Jack) and it went well. John (Li) was even there helping out."
Jack Owen will not be the only one playing for multiple bands that night. DEICIDE bandmate and ORDER OF ENNEAD drummer, Steve Asheim will be will be pulling double duty on this show, playing two full sets with both bands. "Double duty for me - it shouldn't be too bad;" says the frantic drummer, Asheim. "I usually run through a couple sets a night at practice, so i'm ready for anything." Asheim, like Owen is no stranger to playing at high intensities for long stretches of time is looking forward to the challenge of playing for both bands in a live setting. He even offers fans a tip for when they may be in the position of doing the same thing on their own. "You just gotta stay hydrated - water, gatorade, that type of thing." The mighty DEICIDE is back on stage in the U.S. with ORDER OF ENNEAD (featuring DEICIDE drummer, Steve Asheim and special guest, DEICIDE guitarist, Jack Owen), appearing together for ONE NIGHT ONLY alongside the hard rocking ADRIFT (featuring DEICIDE guitarist, Jack Owen) at The Culture Room in Ft. Lauderdale, FL on September 13.
| Kivimetsän Druidi to release album in October |

After being freshly signed to Century Media, the sextet around frontlady Leeni-Maria now is about to release its highly anticipated CMR debut album "Shadowheart" in October 2008. Expect an unmistakeable sound that is heavy, drivingly fast, but due to its epic atmosphere, and melancholic, highly catchy overtones marks a stunning amalgamation of Celtic folklore and vast extreme metal influences. By utilizing lyrics in their native Finnish tongue as well as the English language, KIVIMETSÄN DRUIDI are also highly diverse when it comes to their lyrical content...
