Order of Ennead finish new album
2009-12-16
Floridian extreme metallers ORDER OF ENNEAD have finished recording their second album. The band have set AN EXAMINATION OF BEING as the title for the new album.

AN EXAMINATION OF BEING was recorded at Audio Hammer Studios in Sanford, Florida with producer Mark Lewis (TRIVIUM, CHIMAIRA, ALL THAT REMAINS), who also produced ORDER OF ENNEAD's eponymous 2008 self-titled debut.

ORDER OF ENNEAD lead guitarist John Li comments:

"So what can I say about this new album? In my honest opinion, it's much heavier and darker than our self-titled debut, more cohesive, thematic, melodic, but not completely over the top. In a nutshell, the works. To me, the songs sound totally different than the demos and I was blown away after the songs began to take form. They sound BIG.

"The recording process went as smooth as ever and the results were spectacular, due in part to the genius of our producer/engineer Mark Lewis. He's got an ear like a bat and can spot an out of tune guitar a mile away; a real no-bullshit kind of guy who can really get it done in there.

"Kev's guitars sound heavy as hell, Steve's drums are tight and powerful, and I must say at the risk of tooting my own horn, I played some great stuff as well (shameless, I know)."

Annihilator sign European deal with Earache
2009-12-16
Earache Records is very proud to announce the signing of Canadian thrash metal pioneers ANNIHILATOR to a European deal.

Since releasing their classic ALICE IN HELL debut in 1989, ANNIHILATOR has consistently played heads-down, no-frills metal, led by guitar virtuoso JEFF WATERS.

Now, in 2009, Earache is proud to welcome one of the originators of the whole melodic-thrash style to it's roster, with a brand new (13th) studio album set to be released in the new year. A selection of back catalogue albums are also due to be released at a later date.

ANNIHILATOR guitarist and main-man JEFF WATERS comments:

"Finding a label home for Annihilator in Europe has never been difficult. Finding a good, professional and stable one, that really knows metal, is another matter. We found one! Earache and Annihilator are going to make a great metal team and I can't think of anyone else that should be putting the new Annihilator CD out but them! See you all in 2010!"

Earache Records label manager DAN TOBIN adds:

"Annihilator have continually flown the flag for metal in general and thrash in particular for many years, and with Jeff Waters at the helm have produced some of the most innovative and distinctive metal releases around. Earache looks forward to teaming up with Jeff and spreading the gospel of Annihilator far and wide with a killer new album that is sure to surprise a lot of people with its genuine intensity and aggression."

Manticora book first shows for 2010
2009-12-16
Danish power metallers Manticora have issued the following update:

2010 is looming right around the corner, and we have played our last show for this year. However, we have already booked new shows next year. The first 3 shows are 16/4 in Sønderborg, Denmark, 24/4 in Odense, Denmark and 1/5 in Copenhagen, Denmark. More shows will follow, as we intend to make this a mini tour in Denmark and surroundings. Please keep updated on our website, myspace, facebook or twitter.

Moreover, negotiations are taking place with some festivals in Europe. Let’s cross our fingers that we’ll finally get to set our mark on the festival landscape.

We are still writing new material. We are more or less finished with the writing process, so in January, we’ll nit-pick on the songs, and prepare for a pre-production. This means that we are still right on schedule and that our next album should see a release around September 2010!

This week, Martin will become father to a little girl.. We wish the little “Manticorina” welcome to the world!!

We have shirts of different kind available through the German company InUrFace. There are tour shirts, long sleeves, girlies and hoodies. Check out their homepage here: http://www.inurface.de/Shop/

Evile announce new basist
2009-12-16
British thrashers EVILE have revealed the identity of their new bassist, who joins the band following the tragic and untimely death of their late bassist, Mike Alexander.

Mike Alexander passed away on October 5th, 2009 while the band was on tour in Sweden.

EVILE members Matt Drake, Ol Drake and Ben Carter have released the following statement:

"This has been one of the most bizarre and surreal tasks we've ever had to undertake. It isn't like Mike has decided to leave the band and we're simply finding a new bass player, he was taken from us, and we were forced to replace him. In effect we had to look for a new Mike, but that would never happen. He was one of a kind, and we'll never forget him.

"We had hundreds upon hundreds of emails from bass players from around the world (though we can only realistically have a bassist from the UK), and we want to thank everyone for taking the time out to contact us, and the people who came to jam with us. We only had a certain amount of time to actually audition/jam with bass players before the upcoming tours, to get time in for rehearsing the songs, getting visas sorted etc.

"Our new bass player goes by the name Joel Graham. He's an excellent, experienced bass player, and a really nice guy. We'd all appreciate it if you gave him a warm welcome to the band, as this must be a bizarre situation for him to be in also. We'll be getting some photos taken with him soon so you can see us with Joel, we just wanted to get the news out there that we have a new bassist, and that we thank each and every person for auditioning. Mike would be honoured at the amount of respect and admiration you expressed to us through contacting us."

EVILE are set to kick off a headlining European tour in January. The "Infecting Nations" tour will start with a run of UK shows, before the band heads off to mainland Europe. Joining EVILE on the tour will be American thrashers WARBRINGER and Israel's THE FADING.

Suicidal Tendencies to release DVD
2009-12-11
Since their beginnings in Venice, CA in the early ‘80s, SUICIDAL TENDENCIES have led the charge in the skate punk/thrash metal movement, consequently influencing an entire generation of bands along the way.
Fontana Distribution is proud to announce Live At The Olympic Auditorium, SUICIDAL TENDENCIES’ first ever DVD release! The DVD will street January 26, 2010 via the band’s own imprint, Suicidal Records. The approximately 80-minute DVD features 16 tracks including ST classics “Institutionalized,” “War Inside My Head,” and “Possessed To Skate” and captures SUICIDAL in their most natural environment: Onstage, uncensored and ready to tear you to shreds.

Elaborated ST founding vocalist Mike Muir: "The band started getting emails from some crazy guy that always said, 'I know you'll probably think I'm crazy, but I'm not. I'm wanna book ST for a show and I got this idea...'. Well, one by one we shot down the 'unique' ideas until one time he emailed and said the Olympic Auditorium was being bought by a Korean Church. Shouldn't it be sent off with a special last gig? The band agreed and then the work began. The promoter -- Evel Dick Donato who went on to win Big Brother -- tells a bit about the show, making of etc. on the intro. Lots of drama, none more than the day before the show when I woke up and couldn't walk. But the show must go on and the back surgery would have to wait till afterwards. SUICIDAL recorded live at the Olympic Auditorium in front of 4,000 Cycos...but now you can enjoy it in the safety of your living room."

Tracklisting:

Aeternam reveal new album details
2009-12-09
Quebec City's Aeternam is gearing up to finally release their hotly anticipated debut album on February 16th, 2010! Disciples Of The Unseen is a 10 track foray into an atmospheric, aggressive, melodic and Egyptian-tinged death metal. The album was produced by mastermind JeF Fortin (Neuraxis, The Last Felony) and is for fans of Nile, Melechesh, Behemoth and even earlier Trivium - any metal head will definitely find something to sink their teeth into here. On top of the hook-laden guitar harmonies and solos are vocalist/guitarist Achraf Loudiy's occasional clean vocal melodies; they provide a tasteful palate cleanser and provide an alternative for those who tire quickly from traditional death metal growls. This is particularly evident on the band's first single, The Coronation Of Seth.
