Crazy Lixx part with drummer
2011-07-19
Drummer Joél Cirera will leave Crazy Lixx before the end of 2011, after almost 10 years in the band.

Official statement from Joél:

After playing in Crazy Lixx for the last ten years it’s finally time to say goodbye!
It’s with mixed feelings of sadness, anger and joy that I’m finally leaving the band that I dedicated almost one third of my life to. I hope the guys in the band can find a suitable replacement for me and I wish them all good luck in the future ‘cause I know the new album is going to sound awesome!

I want to thank everyone who has been involved with Crazy Lixx in one way or the other since we first started back in 2002. It’s been a rollercoaster ride since the start with many ups and downs and I will have memories for a lifetime from the whole experience.

I want to thank my family for the support they have given me and my girlfriend for putting up with a LOT of stupid shit during the years but mostly I want to thank the people that listen and support us in one way or another. You guys have made driving for eight hours to play in front of 30 people worthwhile. With the years there were more and more of you guys and you have left a great feeling in my heart that I will cherish for the rest of my life.

I will make three more shows with the band with Barcelona in October being my final farewell!
Hope to see you guys these last couple of shows or I’ll see you some other time!

Cheers!

Joél Cirera – (ex-)drummer of Crazy Lixx

Commenting on the signing, ABHOR stated the following: "After 16 years in the underground and a long period of silence, ABHOR is back. We're finally proud to announce that from now on we'll follow the sinister path along with the MORIBUND CULT. Expect the most occult music you've ever listened to...slow, sinister, and brooding with evil intent!"

We're really looking forward to it all and this is one of many things that we wished for at this stage in our career. With the new album "HATED" out this summer the only thing we want to do is to hit the roads! Germany has been our "second home" the last years and has except for Sweden been the country we undoubtedly done most gigs. It´s always been a blast down there. This will of course be no exception and we will see all of you bastards when the time comes. We promise a riot on stage and thank U.D.O. and the organization around him for this opportunity! Cheers!"

About the band:
SISTER, who hails from Stockholm/Jönkoping Sweden, formed in early 2006 working hard to build up a name as a strong act both live and in the studio. SISTER consists of 4 members- Jamie on vocals, Lestat on guitars and backing vocals, Rikki on bass and backing vocals, and Cari on drums and backing vocals- who combine the sounds of Punk, Glam, Rock, and Metal with an end result sounding something like the bastard child of GG Allin and Guns N' Roses.

SISTER's Metal Blade debut HATED has been released the 3rd/6h of June, 2011!

Nightfall finishing new video
2011-07-18
Athenian Symphonic Death Metallers NIGHTFALL have announced that the video clip for the title track off their latest album Astron Black has entered the editing process! The expected day of release is September 1st so better stay tuned!

Yet again the concept is full of symbolisms based on ancient Greek Gods and Deities among other holy and unholy creatures. Neither the director Achilleas Gatsopoulos nor the band wanted to repeat the schemes and techniques applied in the Ambassador of Mass video (link) that was purely based on shadow puppet theatre.

"There is no reason trying to repeat a successful thing unless you do it for the money" the team sarcastically states, and continues "this is not the issue here. The challenge of creation is priceless and we strictly do it for the art thing of it"

KorovaKill release new album
2011-07-18
Austrian avant-garde metal legends KorovaKill reveal more information about their forthcoming comeback album:

“Chryst PhantasmaChronica” is a concept album that consists of only one song with the length of 50 minutes. It unveils the chronicle behind the phantasms of the visible world, which has become chronic. “PhantasmaChronica” is wilder and calmer, more chaotic and more atmospheric, more brutal and more sentimental, straighter and more complex than all other KorovaKill albums. Prepare for a masterpiece of “Epic Psychedelic Metal”!

Mastermind Chrystof proclaims: “And by the seventh day the creation was completeth. Now the creator will rest from all the work He hath made. He pupates in a cocoon and will return as a new creature with a new world. Await his coming…”
Meanwhile rare videos of KorovaKill’s old skin are available at http://www.youtube.com/user/omniversalrecords

“Chryst PhantasmaChronica” will be released in September 2011.

Hellsaw enter studio
2011-07-18
Austrian Black Metallers HELLSAW entered Munich’s Dreamsound Studios last week to begin recording their fourth full-length album. Titled “Trist”, the album will be the follow up to 2009’s “Cold” and is due for release on Napalm Records in early 2012.

Front man and founder Aries commented about the direction HELLSAW will take with the album. “The German word “Trist” is difficult to define exactly but if you think of various connotations of solemnity and sadness you’d be thinking along the right lines. “Cold” was more about melancholy, “Trist” is darker; it’s like the scent of fine whiskey and damp earth.

“As a band, we always prepare thoroughly before going into the studio, but this time we’ve rehearsed even more in order to perfect the sound for each track. We’ve also sought to redefine the HELLSAW sound, without losing our identity. There needs to be a certain amount of experimentation with each new album in order to bring the sound up to date. Without giving too much away, with “Trist” we believe we have found the perfect symbiosis between the old and new elements. All the songs are strong, and it will definitely kick ass”.

HELLSAW are scheduled to appear at a number of European festivals this year. Confirmed so far are:

Fri 22 July – Hell Over Vellach (AT)
Sat 06 August – Wacken (DE)
Sat 20 August – Baden in Blut (DE)
Sat 17 Sept – STP Metal Weekend (AT)
Sat 01 Oct – Night Warriors Festival (AT)
Sat 29 Oct – The Dark Crusade Festival (AT)

A check of the website http://progpower.eu/ will show you links to loads of accommodation as well as a guide to travelling to Baarlo. It’s really easy and today nowhere is really that far. Chris Connelly to release solo album
2011-07-16
Relapse Records will release the brand new solo album from prolific musician and writer Chris Connelly (Ministry, Revolting Cocks, The High Confessions). The new album, titled Artificial Madness, was recorded this past May at Engine studios in Chicago with producer Sanford Parker. Joining Connelly for the recording and adding to his distinctive vocal and guitar work was Noah Leger (The Karl Hendricks Trio, The(e) Speaking Canaries, Head of Skulls) on drums, Will Lindsay (Indian, Nachtmystium, Wolves in Throne Room) on bass, and Dallas Thomas (The Swan King, Circle of Animals, Asschapel) on guitar.

The title Artificial Madness is a reference to today’s insane reliance on needless technologies that has turned humans into head-hung, shuffling zombies. Connelly describes the release as “an adrenaline rush of paranoia, drawing on my history with bands like Ministry, Killing Joke, and The Damage Manual while retaining the melodic sense. It’s a statement against the way music has become a flaccid Eagles / Fleetwood Mac nightmare with no one fighting or asking questions anymore. It’s time for a revolution.”

Artificial Madness will see a Fall 2011 release date with additional album details to be posted shortly.

So Hideous, My Love release show
2011-07-16
New York post black metal troupe, SO HIDEOUS, MY LOVE.... are pleased to announce their official record release party on July 25th in Brooklyn. See details below:

SO HIDEOUS, MY LOVE... Record Release Party
When: July 25th, 2011
Where: The Charleston
174 Bedford Ave , Brooklyn NY
w/ openers Risk & Toaster
Time: 9:15pm

The party will be in celebration of the band's recently unleashed To Clasp A Fallen Wish With Broken Fingers EP (Play The Assassin Records). A tasteful mesh of post-rock leanings (Envy, Mono, Godspeed You! Black Emperor) and adventurous black metal (Wolves In The Throne Room, Celeste) with classical beauty (Arvo Part, Beethoven), To Clasp A Fallen Wish With Broken Fingers has been reaping critical acclaim from fans and critics alike. Said Heavyblogisheavy.com: "Emotion pours out of every note as furious tremolo picking and string instruments paint somber bursts of melody under throaty and passionate screams and blasts." Decibel Magazine called the band "...blackened classical for people who love the idea of blood dripping cellos played with inverted crosses," while Exclaim added: "SO HIDEOUS, MY LOVE... are the most interesting and original heavy band you'll hear in a while."

The show will also showcase new members: Kevorikian drummer Danny Moncada and bassist Dan Galante. Moncada formerly played for NY death metal outfit Regain The Heart Condemned while Galante comes from Long Island grindcore thwarts, Lobster Apocalypse.

Commented guitarist Jack Marshall: "The Charleston show is our record release party and we're psyched as always to play out live especially after the hardships and turmoil we've had to deal with getting this record done. We went through a couple of personnel changes this past year, so this isn't only a showcase for the new EP but it's also a chance to introduce everybody to the new lineup. The sound is the same but somewhat heavier and we've matured musically and lyrically a lot as a band since our first EP and last live show."

Witchery announce new vocalist
2011-07-16
Some of you might be surprised to see a new face at the Hultsfred Festival tonight when WITCHERY enter the stage to declare Witchkrieg over Sweden . Patrik Jensen (guitar, also in The Haunted): “We are saddened to announce the departure of Legion (ex-Marduk, ex-Devian), singer of last years Witchery ear crusher "Witchkrieg". Unfortunately, conflicting schedules made a continued collaboration impossible. We are very thankful for Legion's input and work on our latest album, and we wish him only the very best for the future. Witchery will however not remain without a leader to take them thru the netherworlds and beyond. None other than Emperor Magus Caligula (ex-Dark Funeral) has decided to once again adorn his armor, and go off to battle for the better of darkness and evil.”

Emperor Magus Caligula: "Getting an offer to play with some of Sweden 's finest elite in metal, I just couldn't resist. Together with Witchery, I will once again spread chaos and hatred upon this world. The emperor is back, and together we will conquer ALL!!!"

Also fans in Finland , Germany and Norway can soon witness the power of Emperor Magus Caligula throat torture at the upcoming Tuska, Summerbreeze and Inferno Festivals. Don’t miss it because WITCHERY don’t play for everybody everywhere:

Vocalist Tarek also released the following statement:

"With this statement I want to tell all fans, friends and partners that we decided that it is time for MAJESTY to officially come back to the glorious Heavy Metal world. It might sound strange to some of you that after only three years when we said that the band is not existent anymore we return but I really want to try to explain to you all the thoughts, feelings and economic reasons which led to that decision.

I know that many of you were shocked when we put MAJESTY to sleep in 2008 and I can never properly explain you the exact reasons why we did that step and honestly, I don't even know them myself. The only thing I know is that it was a decision which hurt the feelings of many dedicated and loyal fans standing together with us side by side through the years.

I know that a bright future lies before us now and we will try to play as many shows as possible all over the planet and finally do again what we were born for: Heavy Metal "Our strength and our religion."

"Own The Crown" is going to be released worldwide on September 2, 2011.

MAJESTY Lineup:

Insomnium to release new album
2011-07-14
Finland is an evocative land. The very mention of it conjures visions of endless darkness, long, cold wintry nights and an almost oppressive bleakness. It is within this icy cauldron that the soul of INSOMNIUM was borne. Their music is as epic as it is melodic, as melancholic as it is majestic and as brutal as it is beautiful. To call INSOMNIUM a Death Metal band is to do them a grave disservice. The upcoming album “One for Sorrow” is such an amalgamation of styles that pigeonholing them into a single category would be to rob the band of its true complexity and ignore the very essence of its sound. Recalling art-metal titans Cult of Luna at one turn and brutal visionaries Amon Amarth at others, “One for Sorrow” displays the true musical breadth of a band that has clearly come into its own on this, their debut album for Century Media. “One For Sorrow” will be released on October 12th in Finland , October 17th in the rest of Europe and October 18th in North America .

Guitarist Ville Friman comments on the album title, “The name One for Sorrow comes from a traditional children’s nursery rhyme. There are ten different scenarios in the original rhyme; likewise there are ten different songs and stories on our album. I think “One for Sorrow” truly depicts what this album is all about: bereavement, grief and loss.”

Right after the tour INSOMNIUM will tour Europe . Ville Friman comments: “We are very exited to finally do a headline tour for the first time in our career. This is a really big step for us and we will definitely bring our A-game. The new songs absolutely kill and we can’t wait to play them live! It’s also great to share this opportunity with two great Finnish bands Before the Dawn and Mygrain. Don’t miss the fun and consider your livers warned: hangover unavoidable. Vocalist Niilo Sevänen continues: "One for Sorrow is a truly epic album and the tour will surely be immense! We get to visit many of our favorite cities and meet the fans who have long waited for Insomnium headlining show. From London to Ljubljana we are looking forward to see you all!"

Formed in 1997 in the town of Joensuu , in Eastern Finland, INSOMNIUM released two demos that led to a deal with UK label Candlelight Records. Founding members Markus Hirvonen (drums), Ville Friman (guitars) and Niilo Sevänen (vocals and bass) added guitarist Ville Vänni to the band for the release of their Candlelight debut in 2001. Throughout the following decade, the band went on to release four more highly acclaimed albums, the most recent of which, 2009’s Across the Dark, entered the Finnish album charts at #5. Along the way, they picked up a couple of awards in their homeland for Best Band and Best Album.
In the spring of 2011, INSOMNIUM entered the studio to record what would become “One for Sorrow”. While drums, bass, keyboards and vocals were recorded in Finland and guitars in Gothenburg , Sweden , the album has a remarkable cohesiveness and clarity of sound.
