We have heard your calls! After the incredible response to While Heaven Wept's brand new album Vast Oceans Lachrymose - which continues to receive the very highest of accolades worldwide - Cruz Del Sur Music, as well as the continued demands from their audience, have finally convinced the band to reissue their long out-of-print past albums Sorrow Of The Angels and Of Empires Forlorn, each in limited-editions of 1000 hand-numbered CD's!

This is a rare opportunity for everyone who missed these masterpieces of epic doom metal history the first time around to buy these at new-release prices (as opposed to the outrageous amounts these albums sometimes fetch on eBay). Both albums feature updated cover art, new pictures, and new liner notes from main man Tom Phillips. The audio content is identical to the original Eibon Records (Sorrow Of The Angels) and Rage Of Achilles Records (Of Empires Forlorn) releases so as to preserve the integrity of the original albums.

These reissues will be strictly limited to 1000 copies, with absolutely no re-pressing whatsoever at the request of While Heaven Wept themselves. Both albums will be released simultaneously on the 29th of January 2010, just in time for the bands' appearance at the Hammer Of Doom III festival in Wurzburg, Germany on February 6th.

The last leaves have fallen in the old world of Europe, stripping down the trees to wooden skeletons, and a dark wind is blowing from the coldest north to freeze your souls. FINNTROLL will blow their new album "Nifelvind" across the withered earth in February 2010. Everybody who thought that the album title is "Mot Skuggornas Värld" should learn his lesson to never trust a Troll. "Nifelvind" was recorded at Sonic Pump Studios in Helsinki, Finland and mastered by Mika Jussila (add any big Finnish Metal band for namedropping) at Finnvox Studios. The album cover artwork was done again by the band's own guitarist Skrymer.

Dark Tranquillity finish new album

Swedish melodic death metal masters DARK TRANQUILLITY have finished the recordings of their ninth studio album, “We Are The Void”, which is going to be released via Century Media Records March 9, 2010

The band’s follow-up 2007’s “Fiction” was recorded at DARK TRANQUILLITY’s very own Rogue Music studio and mixed and mastered by Tue Madsen at Antfarm Studio in Denmark.

To follow the creation of this superb melodic death metal opus none less than Anders Björler (The Haunted, At The Gates) filmed a detailed studio report series which will be launched in the coming weeks. Episode 1 is up now, so check it out!

Swedish progressive melodic deathers SCAR SYMMETRY just got back from their devastating gig at this years Dreamhack, the world's biggest network convention!

Guitarist Per Nilsson comments: „We didn't know what to expect from the seated audience at Dreamhack, but when we got on stage people went NUTS, there was a moshpit and people sang along to the songs. An amazing experience!"

Unleashed in the studio

Swedish death metal veterans Unleashed are currently in Fredrik's "Chrome studio" for the recording of their 10th full length album. The album will be released on Nuclear Blast records early next year. Musically, it will be the logical continuation from "Midvinterblot" and "Hammer Battalion".
Lyrically, you will recognize what has become the Unleashed trademark since more than 20 years, the combination of the past, present and future of viking struggle and way of life. New album from Valfeanor

Austrian Black Metallers VALFEANOR have released their sophomore album on Swiss label Black Tower Productions. Titled “Noreia”, the album is named after the ancient city in the Eastern Alps, whose location is much disputed, and is often thought to have been situated in the Austrian region of Styria, where VALFEANOR is based. The ten-track album is the follow up to VALFEANOR’s 2007 release “En Ny Tid”. Track listing as follows:

Founded in 2002 by Desderoth, VALFEANOR is based around a nucleus of Desderoth himself on vocals, bass and keyboards, and Isiul on guitars and backing vocals, with session drummer Skull being drafted in for recording. Both Desderoth and Isiul are also members of the Austrian Black Metal band HELLSAW.

“Noreia”, with its rawer vocals and old school black metal sound, signals a significant departure from VALFEANOR’s debut album, which was loosely based around fantasy themes and was much more melodic in concept. Commented Desderoth: “Basically, both albums represent different styles that I wanted to experiment with, and it is not the intention of this band to limit itself in what terms of what it writes or plays. The third album has now been written, and we will most probably start recording guitars in January, and it will again be different from what came before. Let’s just say”, Desderoth comments somewhat tongue in cheek, “it was written during a period when I was going through a particularly bad time in my life, so I managed to get a lot of it out of my system by doing a fair amount of “trashing”.

Rotting Christ reveal album title

Set for a February 15th release, ROTTING CHRIST's upcoming album is entitled "AEALO", correlatively with the band's will to delve deeper than ever before into their Greek roots.

Frontman Sakis explains: "AEALO is the transcription of the ancient Greek word ΕΑΛΩ into the Latin alphabet. It means thrashing, catastrophe or destruction and reflects the musical and lyrical content of the album. The concept of 'AEALO' deals with the feelings of a warrior during a battle, therefore the album's title bears this sense of anger, fear and grief."

Metallica to release Mexican DVD

Metal veterans Metallica have issued the following update:

"In June of this year we were fortunate enough to return to Mexico City for three sold out shows at Foro Sol Stadium and with 155,000 of you there over the three nights, we knew it would be extra special. So we asked our friend Wayne Isham to join us with a film crew and the results of that crazy, magical, most memorable long weekend will be available on DVD and CD starting November 30 as "Orgullo, Pasion y Gloria: Tres Noches En La Ciudad de Mexico" ("Pride, Passion, and Glory: Three Nights in Mexico City").

The region free DVD's and CD's include songs from all three shows recorded on June 4, 6, and 7. Each show had a unique set list, totaling 34 different songs . . . they're all there on the two DVD set along with interviews with us. Other versions that will be available include one DVD (18 tracks), Blu-ray version of that DVD, a digi-pack with the DVD and two CD's, and finally the aforementioned deluxe version in a slip case with two DVD's and two CD's. Track listings for each configuration can be seen here. In keeping with the local theme, all the credits will be in Spanish (Portuguese for our Brazilian buddies) and will only be available at stores in Latin America. Of course we will also have it in The Official Metallica.com Store, starting sometime the week of December 7.

Most areas of Latin America will have the DVD available on November 30, however if you live in Brazil, check your local music store on December 8 and for fans in Argentina and Chile, "Orgullo, Pasion y Gloria: Tres Noches En La Ciudad de Mexico" hits the stores on December 10. All DVD's are region free and will play on any player worldwide.

And of course since we had such an amazing time in Mexico, we can't wait to go back . . ."

Double Dragon to enter studio

Tonight 26/11/2009 DOUBLE DRAGON will be uploading a live version of the title track to their upcoming new album, 'Blood' on myspace.

The song was recorded at Riverstage, Brisbane, on the opening night of their supporting tour with metal legends SLAYER and MEGADETH.

Scar of the Sun open for Pain of Salvation

Greek atmospheric metal band SCAR OF THE SUN will be the opening act at PAIN OF SALVATION’s two newly announced shows in Greece, January 23-24, in Athens (Gagarin 205 Club) and Thessaloniki (Principal Club Theater) respectively. On both shows SOTS’ live performance will be followed by that of DISILLUSION (Germany), AGUA DE ANNIQUE (The Netherlands), LAKE OF TEARS (Sweden) and headliners PAIN OF SALVATION (Sweden).

Both shows are due to start at 6 pm. The ticket price for each show is 38 Euros. Tickets can be purchased in Athens at Ticket House, Ticket Pro and Rock City – in Thessaloniki at Metropolis and Musicland.

SCAR OF THE SUN’s debut studio album, “A Series of Unfortunate Concurrencies”, was mixed and mastered by acclaimed sound engineers Rhys Fulber (FEAR FACTORY, PARADISE LOST, FRONT LINE ASSEMBLY etc) and Greg Reely (PARADISE LOST, FRONT LINE ASSEMBLY, SKINNY PUPPY etc) and features special guests such as Mikael Stanne (DARK TRANQUILLITY), Bob Katsionis (FIREWIND, OUTLOUD), Marios Iliopoulos (NIGHTRAGE), Chris Antoniou (SEPTIC FLESH) and Leah Randi (CONJURE ONE). Shining reveal album details

Swedish Extreme Metallers SHINING have completed work on their seventh album and have today revealed details and cover art. Scheduled for release on Indie Recordings in March/April 2010, the 6-track album will have the title “SHINING VII - FÖDD FÖRLORARE” (Born Loser). Track listing as follows:

According to founder and front man NIKLAS KVARFORTH (SKITLIV), with “Född Förlorare” SHINING will “take a deep dive into the darkest of all musical genres you could imagine”. Making guest appearances on the album are ERIK DANIELSSON (WATAIN), PETER BJÄRGÖ (ARCANA) and NORDMAN.

SHINING is due to tour Europe with SATYRICON in December, and confirmed that they will be appearing at the Metalfest Open Air Festivals in Germany, Austria and Switzerland in May 2010. The band is currently waiting for the work permit and visa approvals that will enable them to join the US tour with BEHEMOTH in January, and will announce dates as soon as approvals have been confirmed.

Pulverised Records is pleased to announce its newest signing: Norwegian black metallers DEN SAAKALDTE. Founded by principal songwriter/guitarist Mikael Sykelig (ex-Gorgoroth session guitar player) and featuring some of the scene's most notorious and prolific musicians, the band released the monumental Øl, Mørke og Depresjon (translation: "Beer, Darkness And Depression”) opus in 2008 and remarkably depressive full-length follow-up All Hail Pessimism in early 2009 before joining forces with the Singapore-based label.

Commented Sykelig: “We are proud to announce that DEN SAAKALDTE’s new record label is to be Pulverised Records. In our opinion, Pulverised is currently one of the most upcoming labels you can find. They work hard for their bands, and just seeing the names that they have on their roster is enough to know that their goals, and standards, are set very high indeed. DEN SAAKALDTE's forthcoming album and first with Pulverised Records, will be entitled Kapittel II: Faen i Helvete, scheduled for release in the Fall of 2010.

In other DEN SAAKALDTE-related news, the band will be part of the Skandinavisk Pessimisme Omringer Europa Touralongside Troll and Sargeist from March 2010 on. In addition, the band will make an appearance at next year’s edition of the Kings Of Black Metal Festival on April 10, 2010 and Barther Metal Open Air on August 20, 2010. Fields of the Nephilim update

Iconic British band Fields Of The Nephilim have announced the imminent release of a new product for early 2010. It has been confirmed that this will be a multi-format offering which will include audio elements, DVDs featuring live performances from the Ceromonies events, documentary footage and exclusive packaging options for collectors.

An exclusive preview of what we can expect early next year can be viewed at www.ceromonies.net.

Though much of the footage and recordings were captured throughout 2008/9 the final products will be mainly focused on the London Shepherds Bush two-night special ‘Ad Mortem and Ad Vitem’ shows on July 12th & 13th 2008 respectively.

The band have also confirmed that following the conclusion of the Ceromonies events they will turn their attentions to new material which is likely to follow shortly after the initial audio-visual release. The bands enigmatic frontman Carl McCoy said “ The production of the live material has consumed most of our time recently, though it is now in its final production stage so we can now look to the future and concentrate on our new studio material, At this stage I can’t tell you what this will evolve into but we are working towards something new being released in 2010”.

Furthermore and to coincide with the completion of the Ceromonies it has been announced the Fields Of The Nephilim will perform another special 2 night show at Club Progresja in Warsaw, Poland on January 22nd and 23rd. The Ceromonies series began in Warsaw back in March 2008.

Forcentury releases debut album

The Danish Heavy Metallers of FORCENTURY have set the release date for their debut full lenght album "Vanguard" at Friday, November 27, 2009. The CD contains 9 tracks, which are a nice mix of thrashers, ballads and plain old solid power metal ! The band will release this through their own label and fans can find more info about how to buy a copy of the album soon through their online sites.

To celebrate the release, the band will throw a release party this upcoming Friday, November 27. It will be hosted by CLUB TEX, Skindergade 45-48 - Copenhagen. Be there at 20.00pm ! More details about this can be found at the MySpace site of the band.

Swedish melodic death metal pioneers AT THE GATES are set to release THE FLAMES OF THE END, a brand new 3-disc DVD set, through Earache Records.

AT THE GATES released their definitive album, SLAUGHTER OF THE SOUL - often regarded as one of the all-time greatest metal albums - on Earache in 1995, before touring the world and abruptly disbanding. Members of the band went on to play major roles in other notorious metal acts such as THE HAUNTED and CRADLE OF FILTH, before reforming for a one-off tour in 2008 to rapturous response.

Now, to celebrate AT THE GATES' massively influential career and historical reunion tour, the band will be releasing THE FLAMES OF THE END, an extensive, in-depth and definitive 3-disc DVD set on February 22nd, 2010.

Housed in a deluxe six-panel DVD digipak with a 40-page colour booklet, THE FLAMES OF THE END will include three indispensable DVDs:

"It's now almost two-and-a-half years after the first telephone call to the guys regarding the reunion plans for 2008. Looking back at it today, I am very pleased and happy we pulled it off in the short amount of time and clearing all the planning hurdles with our other bands; The Haunted, Disfear, Brujeria, Nemhain, Slakattack etc.

"I started preparing for the documentary 'Under A Serpent Sun' already in 2007. I got myself a new camera, 'cause the old one gave up on me. The downside to my filming plans was actually reliving all the feelings associated with At the Gates. I didn't want to miss anything. I talked to fans, journalists, and everybody was just overwhelmed by the whole thing. All of us basically took the time to experience this tour to the fullest extent. We appreciated every second of it, because we knew that in a few months it would all be over. All the troubles of the past were washed away. We were basically enjoying touring again.

"After the reunion tour, I sat down and had a look at all the material we had collected. We had a bunch of stuff filmed from pretty much everywhere we played. The quality was very diverse, but at the same time intriguing, and it gave me the inspiration to continue on the documentary. I had made some interviews beforehand with Tomas, and continued tracking down people with knowledge of the past - Alf, Jesper Jarold from At the Gates, and a bunch of people from other bands at the time. We hunted down a few hundred old pictures, old crappy VHS and HI-8 recordings from the rehearsal room, live shows, on the road footage etc... ending up with a 130-minute documentary. I want to express gratitude to the people helping us out with old material: photos, videos, stories etc... It wouldn't have been possible without your help!

"The Wacken show was planned ahead as being the #1 show on the upcoming DVD. It captured us at our finest moment, just after the US tour, and it's definitely one of our finest moments. We were blown away of the fact that we actually played for 60,000 people.

"So, enjoy 'The Flames of the End' DVD box set. We have really put our hearts into this release, and it's a fine last document of the band."
