| Flowing Tears finish new album |
2008-07-28
|
|
The band have issued the following statement:
“It took a while, but there´s great news finally: After some really busy and hard working months the work on the new album is finished. We just finalised the mix. Sorry for not keeping you all updated during the production, but we were that much into it that we apparently just forgot to do so… Well, time for some facts to be relevealed then: the album will be entitled “THY KINGDOM GONE”. It will be a concept album containing 12 songs. It has probably become the darkest and most intense one we ever did. We´re really excited about how this one turned out and can´t wait for you to listen to it! I think we really managed to capture the essence of what Flowing Tears is about: there´s tons of really heavy melancholic guitar stuff, tons of atmospheres, and probably the most personal and dedicated lyrics we´ve ever written. Somehow the album pretty much breathes the spirit of albums like “Joy parade” or “Jade” in terms of atmosphere and density, even though it´s much heavier. And even though the album feels very homogenous, it is probably our most varied one. There´s a lot to discover… you´ll be surprised. Expect an intense one. No party music, not meant to have a good time with definitely. Moreover we´re excited to announce that the artwork for the album will be done by Seth Siro Anton, whom some of you might know from the great work he did for Moonspell, Soilwork or Paradise Lost lately. A release is currently scheduled for October. There´s no definite release date yet, but as soon as we have it, we´ll post it here, along with a complete tracklist and more detailed information. ” More information will be made available soon.
| Cradle Of Filth announce album title |
2008-07-28
|
|
New York, NY: Mirror, mirror, on the wall. Who's the blackest of them all? Why, Cradle of Filth, of course. England's most notorious and nefarious metal band are gearing up to release their darkest, most dastardly album of all, titled Godspeed on the Devil's Thunder, for Roadrunner Records on October 28. The album, which will have a special edition with an extra disc and bonus material, arrives just in time for Halloween, a holiday that fits Cradle of Filth's blackened, ghostly aesthetic.
The album is conceptual and is based on the well-documented, true-life fall from grace of a shadowy historical figure named Gilles de Rais, a wealthy French nobleman who was one of Joan of Arc's brothers-in-arms. He was best known, however, as a prolific serial killer who mixed prayers with his nightly murders as well as an aspiring alchemist. He was accused of a panoply of crimes, among them heresy, demonology and kidnapping. There's even an extreme fringe sect of historians who question de Rais' true status, with some convinced he was framed. Regardless of viewpoint, leave it to Cradle of Filth to dissect de Rais' biography, exploring subversive, inflammatory historical subject matter in its lyrics, taking an unjaundiced look at a controversial figure in European history, set to epic black metal music. The band profiled Hungarian countess Elizabeth Bathory, who attempted to preserve her youth by bathing in the blood of virgins, in the past and now moves forward by framing their latest album around the story of de Rais. Cradle of Filth's vocalist Dani Filth elaborated on the album's concept, saying, "By far this is our most extreme, dramatic and deeply disturbing album to date. The legend of Gilles de Rais has been given fresh, vampyrical life in this conceptual meisterwerk, swathed in pitch-black magic and a viciousness unsurpassed in the annals of Cradle history. Screw what our detractors say, everyone who has heard this album has bruised their jaws on the pentagram-bejewelled floor." The tracklisting for Godspeed on the Devil's Thunder is as follows: "In Grandeur And Frankincense Devilment Stirs" "Shat Out Of Hell" "The Death Of Love" "The 13th Caesar" "Tiffauges" "Tragic Kingdom" "Sweetest Maleficia" "Honey And Sulphur" "Midnight Shadows Crawl To Darken Counsel With Life" "Darkness Incarnate" "Ten Leagues Beneath Contempt" "Godspeed On The Devil's Thunder" "Corpseflower" Cradle of Filth follows up 2006's Thornography with a bigger, faster and louder conceptual new album. The band retains their hard-earned reputation as the best of the blackest with Godspeed on the Devil's Thunder.

| OPM frontman arrested |

California based OPM have been turning heads all summer long performing tracks from their upcoming new album “Golden State Of Mind” as a part of the DIY Tour with (Hed)pe. The band recently caught the attention of local authorities in Saint Petersburg, FL this week when frontman JohnE Necro was arrested for criminal mischief. Authorities arrested Necro and later released him on $1,000 bail, after reports he allegedly spray painted a wall.
"I find it kind of ironic that Saint Petersburg, FL, home to the Salvador Dali museum, could be so insanely uptight about spray painting," says Necro. "In some areas Graffiti is regarded as a form of art worthy of display in galleries and exhibitions, but obviously the state of Florida feels differently." California rock-reggae five piece OPM recently released the track “Tell Me What You Want” featuring Big B online at www.MySpace.com/Opm from the group’s upcoming new album “Golden State of Mind”, which will see release through Suburban Noize Records on September 2nd, 2008. The album will feature guest appearances from reggae legend Pato Baton, Cypress Hill's Sen Dog, Jim Perkins from Dumbluck and Suburban Noize alumni Big B, DJ Product (HedPe) and Johnny Richter (Kottonmouth Kings). “With our last record we went in a direction that down played the hip hop aspect a bit and I think that Golden State of Mind is a bit more back to our original roots of incorporating all of our influences from hip-hop, punk-rock, reggae and rock and roll, ” says frontman John E Necro. “I think with Golden State of Mind we got a good balance of what we liked about both of those records. Lots of live performances from everybody, but we still found places for the big beats to fit in. Every album you do you get to learn from the last one. I think this one is the natural progression.” OPM's laid back hybrid style of rock mixed with hip-hop and reggae has racked up more than 1 million units sold worldwide. Their debut album "Menace To Sobriety” stormed rock radio with the international skateboarder's anthem, “Heaven is a Halfpipe”, which became the #1 most requested track on LA's KROQ and won the highly acclaimed Kerrang “Single of the Year” award. Since then the band has cultivated a grass roots with the release of 2004’s underground classic "ForTheMasses" and 2006’s "California Poppy" following that has put them in league with the likes of Sublime, 311, Pepper and Slightly Stoopid.
| The Boy Will Drown sign with Earache Records |
2008-07-25
|
|
EARACHE is proud to announce the signing of British technical metallers THE BOY WILL DROWN to a multi-album, worldwide recording deal.
THE BOY WILL DROWN are a four-piece band based in Norwich/Colchester in the UK who formed in late 2006. Currently regarded as one of the most flamboyant and intense bands in the UK, they play a vicious blend of technical and experimental music based around grindcore and death metal. Refusing to play "sugar-coated" metal like so many other bands, THE BOY WILL DROWN do everything in their power to mesmerise and pulverise the listener, whilst simultaneously injecting an element of humour, fun and youth into the otherwise serious face of the extreme metal genre. Drawing influence from such bands as DECAPITATED, NECROPHAGIST and PSYOPUS, THE BOY WILL DROWN create music that's technically breathtaking, with punishing metal riffage, yet still retains that "groove" factor. Check out some tracks from THE BOY WILL DROWN at www.myspace.com/tbwd With an ever-growing fanbase eagerly awaiting their first full-length release, THE BOY WILL DROWN are set to follow in the path of their idols DECAPITATED and enter Hertz Studios in Poland this October to record their debut album.
| Temujin postpone North American shows |

|
Temujin and Renaissance Records wish to announce that the North American live dates originally planned for late 2008 have been rescheduled to 2009. Instead, the band will be bringing forward plans to record new material, which should begin sometime in August.
The change in schedule has been brought about because lead vocalist Kelly is expecting her second child in mid November. "We are disappointed that we won't be able to bring our music to the US as planned ... but very excited about the arrival of a new child. We'll now focus on writing and recording in the lead up to the birth, and then launch into 2009 with new material and a return to live work. Nothing is cancelled - just rearranged! And a new child means that 2009 will be a fantastic year both personally and professionally - we can't wait."

| Roadrunner Records announce new signings |
2008-07-24
|
|
New York, NY: Roadrunner Records is pleased to announce the signing of three eclectic, up and coming new bands to an already diverse roster than includes heavyweights such as Nickelback, Slipknot, Killswitch Engage, Dragonforce, and Theory of a Deadman. Roadrunner welcomes Dommin, Mutiny and Port Amoral to the fold.
Los Angeles-based goth rock quartet Dommin was discovered by Dirty Icon Productions, a company founded by producers Logan Mader, former guitarist of longtime Roadrunner artist Machine Head, and Lucas Banker. Led by the enigmatic frontman, guitarist and songwriter Kristofer Dommin, Dommin puts a uniquely refreshing spin on the romantic, dark goth sound, bringing a unified voice to the brokenhearted, conflicted swarm of melancholic music fans who prefer to look at the glass as half-full. Veteran A&R rep Monte Conner signed the band to the label and was quick to express his excitement, saying, "Dommin comes across as very fresh and unique in today's landscape. Kristofer Dommin is their secret weapon. His vocals are absolutely compelling, and this is especially evident live where you can feel the power, passion and emotion of every word he sings." Dommin's line up is rounded out by keyboardist Konstantine, bassist Billy James and drummer Cameron. Check out the swell of black-hued, stormy and mysterious goth rock and their video clip of fan favorite “My Heart, Your Hands” on the band's heavily trafficked MySpace page, viewable at www.myspace.com/dommin. Look for the band’s Roadrunner debut, produced by Dirty Icon Productions, this winter. New Jersey-based Mutiny, a band of young turks who play like a troupe of seasoned shred veterans and who plucked their singer from Blackpool, England, thanks to the wonders of MySpace, have also been added to the label roster. The thoroughly metallic outfit was unearthed and signed by A&R man Mike Gitter, who was blown away by the band's live firepower. Gitter says, "The band was playing at a level so early in its career that most bands never touch. With the addition of [vocalist] Chris Clancy, they verge on unbeatable. Mutiny are truly the graduating valedictorians of Generation Guitar Hero." With members ranging in age from 18 to 23, Mutiny's line up is rounded out by bassist Andrew "AJ" Jacobs, guitarists Brandon Jacobs and Lu Obregon, keyboardist Drew Stavola, and drummer Bill Fiore. The Mutiny crew will spend the next few months toiling diligently in the Jacobs family's basement and they won't come out until they have an absolute metal classic on their hands. Turn your ear to their progressive-for-the-new-generation of metal songs posted at www.myspace.com/mutinynj. Winnipeg, Canada's melodic metal band Port Amoral also joins the Roadrunner family. The group formed in 2004 and is comprised of a tandem of brothers, vocalist/bassist Jared Weiss and guitarist Eric Weiss. The line up is rounded out by guitarist Andrew Campbell and drummer Matthew Hallick. Port Amoral were also signed by Conner, whose interest was initially sparked after hearing demos produced by Canada's John Paul Peters (Comeback Kid, Waking Eyes) and taking in the energetic live show. "Port Amoral know how to craft songs with hooks and smart arrangements and their developed level of writing made me take notice," explains Conner. For a taste of the guitar mastery that turned Conner onto the band, check out a demo of the complex mini-epic "Villains" at www.myspace.com/portamoral. The band will record its Roadrunner debut with Colin Richardson (Bullet for My Valentine, Trivium, As I Lay Dying) for a winter 2009 release.

Bassist Randy Butman of PATHS OF POSSESSION — the Florida-based band fronted by CANNIBAL CORPSE vocalist George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher — has issued the following update:
"We are gearing up for the new disc. We enter Mana studios in September to record the first half, and we will do the second half in November. The reason for the split is because CANNIBAL CORPSE will be recording at the same time as us, and there is not enough of old George to go around. We are looking at a March release probably.”

Long-time drummer Jens Maluschka is back in the fold after a 12-month absence. New on bass is Matthias Becker from fellow Leipzig band Safi.
The group has yet to deliver a statement regarding the musical direction of the new material. "There's a lot still up in the air, and it's too early to be closing any doors, but we feel more energy-laden than ever before", comments the four-piece.
