Truth Corroded sign new deal
2011-07-07
Australian thrash metal band TRUTH CORRODED have signed a European / Japan deal with ULTIMHATE RECORDS (www.ultimhate-records.com) for the release of the band’s latest album, Worship The Bled. The label will release the album on September 16th with the band following up the release with a European tour in early 2012.

Commenting on the deal, TRUTH CORRODED bass guitarist Greg Shaw states: "The band is extremely pleased to be a part of the label. ULTIMHATE RECORDS have a great and diverse range of bands, and we feel our sound has found the perfect label to represent us in Europe and Japan. Furthermore, like our Australian label (TRUTH INC RECORDS) it is run by musicians who know the industry from going into battle for their own music. After years of hard work to get where we are it is great to be working with a label that has a shared experience and work ethic. The label has been very supportive and plans for touring in support of the album in Europe were put into place immediately. For us this is an aim we have long fought for, and we look foward to taking our music to Europe and building our profile further".

Worship The Bled features Kevin Talley (SIX FEET UNDER, MISERY INDEX, DAATH, CHIMAIRA) on drums and was mixed and mastered by Jonas Kjellgren of SCAR SYMMETRY at Black Lounge Studio in Avesta, Sweden. Artwork for the album was designed by Bjoern Gooses of KILLUSTRATIONS (ABORTED, DEW SCENTED)

Kevin Talley also comments his participation drumming on Worship The Bled, "I really enjoyed playing on this album. There are many different types of beats and a variety of tempos. Great band!"

AC/DC bassist to release memoirs
2011-07-07
Bazillion Points Books has announced the North American release of DIRTY DEEDS: My Life Inside/Outside AC/DC, by Mark Evans, bass player in the classic 1970s AC/DC lineup. Evans recorded countless rock anthems with the band on the groundbreaking releases High Voltage, TNT, Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap, Let There Be Rock, and the '74 Jailbreak EP.

The book's release is scheduled for November 2011. For more information, visit: http://www.dirtydeedsbook.com

At nineteen years old in 1975, Mark Evans joined AC/DC, one of the hardest-working and loudest barroom bands in Australia. In the next few years AC/DC recorded a string of bestselling albums, and Mark found himself headlining world tours and living the life of a bona fide rock star. His memoir, Dirty Deeds: My Life Inside/Outside of AC/DC, is the first bio written by a band insider during the early years, giving insight into the struggles and camaraderie that fueled the rise of hard rock's most successful group. His likeable stories capture the energy and essence of Malcolm Young, Angus Young, Phil Rudd, and the late Bon Scott. Rock and roll icons like George Harrison, Gene Simmons, Phil Lynott, Alice Cooper, Ronnie Wood, Ahmet Ertegun, and members of Metallica feature as well.

"The aggressive attitude that AC/DC had towards Australian bands continued when we shifted overseas. The world's bigger bands became our new targets. Who the fuck did these pricks think they were? We saw a few of the so-called headline acts and straight away knew that we had nothing to fear."

It was a long way to the top... and Mark Evans was there.

Excruciator announce release date
2011-07-07
EXCRUCIATOR was formed in early 2008 when friends Chris Birkle and Josh Kay, both bored with the overdone nu-core sounds dominating the Portland metal scene, proposed the idea of starting a band that brought back the energy of the earliest days of death metal as it evolved from the ashes of thrash. The two convinced the destroyer of strings, Craig Bridenbeck, to join on bass and were complete shortly thereafter with the addition of thunderous beats care of drummer Marcus Hartford. Within a few months EXCRUCIATOR had built a solid repertoire of original songs hearkening back to the days before blast beats and down-tuning, pioneered by iconic albums such as Scream Bloody Gore by DEATH and Seven Gates by POSSESSED. Confident that they had hit their mark, the band entered the studio during summer 2009 to record their first proper demo entitled By the Gates of Flesh. The eight track demo quickly gained favor amongst the Portland metal crowd and this growing notoriety allowed EXCRUCIATOR to acquire gigs with national acts such as Forbidden, Cauldron, Enforcer, Ensiferum, Witchaven, Powerglove and Last Empire. Opportunity arose for EXCRUCIATOR when the band opened for Vektor during their summer 2010 tour. Thoroughly impressed with EXCRUCIATOR, the news made its way back to to their label, New York-based Heavy Artillery Records. The band was offered a deal and promptly joined the ranks with the release of By the Gates of Flesh as a five-track ep during November 2010, becoming the second installment in the label’s popular “Wax Maniax” series of limited edition vinyl and CD demo releases.

Bolstered by the tremendous response to By the Gates of Flesh, EXCRUCIATOR hit the studio in early 2011 to begin recording their debut full-length album Devouring. With North American tour dates and a video for the track “Devouring the Flesh of My Master” in the works, EXCRUCIATOR are prepared to put their weight behind their debut album and come out swinging. Now scheduled for release on August 2nd 2011 in North America and August 12th in Europe , Devouring promises to galvanize the old-school metal forces in the fight for true metal supremacy!

Barn Burner announce new tour dates

Barn Burner recently completed a Canadian tour with 3 Inches of Blood and Cancer Bats and a headlining tour through the west coast of the US. The tour gives east coasters a killer opportunity to catch two of the best up-and-coming rock/thrash bands in intimate, party-friendly settings.

Barn Burner's second album, Bangers II: Scum of the Earth, saw the band once again teaming up with producer/engineer Adrian Popovich (Tricky Woo, Priestess, Sam Roberts, The Dears, and Sebastian Grainger) to create a truly original heavy metal record. ZombieShakerBox to release debut album
2011-07-07
Upcoming Las Vegas alternative hard rock act ZombieShakerBox have recently released their debut album, Encrypted. Fronted by Washington, DC native Kirk Hulshoff, the band is also comprised of guitarist, Jami Lin, bassist Cory Kay and drummer Tomonori Sugiyama. Two years in the making, Encrypted was recorded at Piranha Digital Studios in Burbank, CA. Produced by Hulshoff and engineered by Mike Milchner, the album features ten blistering tracks rooted in '90's grunge but with a more modern, melodic twist to the material.

Formed in early 2008, ZombieShakerBox quickly found it's legs and headed straight into the studio to begin work on Encrypted, all the while building a strong local fanbase on the strength of it's live show. Once the album was finished the band took to the road playing shows throughout Nevada, California and Utah, impressing club promoters so much that the band was invited back time and again, extending their following beyond their Las Vegas home territory. In 2010 ZombieShakerBox won "Best Male Vocalist" at the LA Music Awards and "Best Metal Band" at the Vegas Rocks Awards. "We opened the Las Vegas Music Awards with "Blow N' Smoke" and won 'Best Metal Band' based on that performance, relates bassist, Cory Kay. "We got to turn a lot of heads that night with a lot of big time players. It was definitely my favourite experience to date with the band. After winning at the LA Music Awards it made me realize that ZombieShakerBox is going places."

Encrypted is an autobiography of sorts for singer Kirl Hulshoff, as the lyrics deal primarily with drugs and living life far roo close to the edge for comfort - subjects that Hulshoff is far too familiar with. ""I went down the wrong road more times than I can count and luckily was able to rebound from everything," he reflects. "Lyrically, the album takes you through the pain, regret, lessons learned and redemption that eventually made me a stronger person coming out of it all."

Encrypted is in stores now and will be up on iTunes and other digital outlets on July 12.

Graveworm enter studio
2011-07-06
Our Italian friends of GRAVEWORM will enter the "Dreamsound Studio" in Munich at the beginning of July to record the successor of "Diabolical Figures" (2009).

Eleven tracks will be taped up, which are described as a "combination of GRAVEWORM's typical elements" by frontman Stefan Fiori. "The music got straighter and displays a perfect blend of our past four albums for me."
Hardness meets melody - once again an individual mixture of Gothic Metal and Melodic Death Metal, the two main pillars of the South Tyrolean's sound.
The album will be entitled "Fragments Of Death" and will be released on the 14th of October via Nuclear Blast. The title is explained by the vocalist in the following way:

" "Fragments Of Death" stands for the ten musical pieces of a puzzle on the CD. The lyrics deal with different modes of death. There will be one song about the current incidents in Japan, for example."
