Italian avant-garde metallers EPHEL DUATH have revealed that BEN WEINMAN, founding member and guitarist of DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN, will be appearing as a special guest musican on EPHEL DUATH's highly anticipated upcoming new album, THROUGH MY DOG'S EYES.
EPHEL DUATH are proud to announce that BEN WEINMAN will be composing the electronic parts of the song "Bark Loud". WEINMAN comments on his experience working with EPHEL DUATH: "Ephel Duath is one of those bands that truly understands the essence of what experimental and fusion music should be about. Touring with them was an amazing experience and it is great to finally be collaborating in this way!" EPHEL DUATH are set to enter Outer Sound Studios in Rome on July 14th to complete the recording of THROUGH MY DOG'S EYES with producer GIUSEPPE ORLANDO (NOVEMBRE, KLIMT 1918). The drums for the album have already been recorded by MARCO MINNEMANN (who recently played drums for NECROPHAGIST on their Summer Slaughter tour) at Seacoast Studio in Imperial Beach, California. New York, NY: Few bands inspire such fanaticism among their fans as Dream Theater. The best way to satiate this dedicated legion is to provide them with even more material to devour and Dream Theater are doing just that this September. The band will release Chaos In Motion 2007/2008, which documents their "Chaos In Motion" world tour, which kicked off June 3, 2007 at the Monsters of Rock Festival in Milan, Italy and concluded almost a year to the day later on June 4, 2008 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. It's essentially a travelogue of their most recent touring experience and it hits shelves on September 23. Chaos In Motion 2007/2008 will be available in two configurations: as a double DVD set and as five disc collector's set which includes two DVDs and three CDs, containing 14 live tracks featured in the DVD set and expanded artwork.
The Chaos in Motion Tour was a trek that found the band traversing the globe, playing 115 shows in 105 cities in 35 countries on five continents to hundreds of thousands of fans. It also included the first annual Progressive Nation Tour, an idea that the band had kicked around for a few years and finally launched into action this past spring. Chaos In Motion 2007/2008 is the latest in a series of DVDs from the band and it features performances captured throughout the entirety of the tour, unlike their last three RIAA-certified Platinum DVDs, Metropolis 2000: Live Scenes From New York, Live at Budokan and Score, all of which focused on as single concert event. Drummer and DVD creative director Mike Portnoy plumed his personal archives for footage in order to provide fans with the ultimate tour souvenir. He assembled over three hours of complete live performances, taking footage from shows in Rotterdam, Buenos Aires, Toronto, Boston, Bangkok and Vancouver. The tracks were mixed and effectively brought to life by Kevin Shirley. The second disc is packed with bonus material, including promo videos, live screen projection films, a photo gallery and a 90-minute documentary that'll make you feel like you're riding in the passenger's seat of the band's tour bus, as it takes you on the road and behind the scenes with the band and crew. It's like a virtual backstage pass that grants fans further unprecedented access. San Diego, CA's Mower have been added to the July 16th San Diego, CA date of the Rockstar Music Mayhem Festival featuring Slipknot and Disturbed. The band will be performing alongside metal heavyweights like Machine Head, 36 Crazyfists and Five Finger Death Punch in the group’s hometown.
"THANK YOU! That's what you say about performing on the Jagermeister stage in San Diego on the biggest tour of the summer, the Rockstar Mayhem Festival," says frontman Brian Sheerin. "We're wrapping up the new Mower CD this month and we've got some heavy new material we're looking forward to playing at Mayhem." Mower recently entered a Los Angeles, CA recording studio with producer Eddie Wohl (Anthrax, Ill Nino, 36 Crazyfists, Dry Kill Logic) to record their upcoming new album. The album is a split release with six brand new Mower songs and six songs from the group's jazz alter ego Slower. Slower is comprised of the Mower band members performing jazz and lounge versions of Mower songs. "We've a couple guest guitarists, guest vocals, string sections keyboards and percussion for this album. Stay tuned in the coming weeks and we'll announce a pretty sick list of musicians that have been collaborating with us in the studio," Sheerin says. "Our writing style changed in that there are more songs about events that we lived through and people in our lives, but our sarcasm hasn't faded one bit and neither has our sense of humor." The track appears on the group’s critically acclaimed sophomore effort, "Not For You", which saw them tour the US relentlessly alongside (Hed)p.e. and Diecast. SiX have been added to the July 13th San Bernardino, California date of the Rockstar Music Mayhem Festival featuring Slipknot and Disturbed. The band will be opening the Jagermeister stage performing alongside Machine Head, Five Finger Death Punch and 36 Crazyfists.
The band has announced that guitarist Duke Decter (Ex-Idols, Drown) will join the band to deliver a blistering set of songs off the new SiX album "Between The Warning and The War". The set will reunite Decter and SiX frontman Lauren Boquette for the first time since both were members of alt-metal group Drown and in support of the band's 1998 release "Product of A Two Faced World". "It'll be great jamming with Duke again. He's an old friend, we've had a lot of great times together, we've made a lot of great music together and damn can that guy put away the whiskey!" laughs Boquette In other news, SiX recently signed on with the Red Dragon Booking Agency and are currently in the process of booking a full scale US tour for September and October. ...and a happy month of July for us all! Big announcements this month with some exciting news. The "Live Humanitarian" DVD is now finally finished in edit. It sounds and looks massive! The official release date for the DVD is September 26th through Nuclear Blast Records, Germany. Yes, you read it correctly, the biggest and best Mort live release will be soley released by the world's biggest and best heavy metal label. The DVD will be in Region 0 and thus playable worldwide.
I was speaking with Nuclear Blast owner Markus about the DVD last November when we were on tour in Europe and had dinner with him and production manager Michael. Michael and Markus have been a huge support for me since they had to let us go in late 2001. It has been a dream to work with Nuclear Blast once again. The release of "Live Humanitarian" is a foot back in the door with the world's best metal label. My main connection with Markus and Michael since 2002 has been one of friendship. There has always remained a strong bond between Mortification and Nuclear Blast. Markus and Michael have helped tremendously over the past 6 years with tour merchandise and support, even as an unsigned artist. They are truly just the best! We are confirmed to play mainstage at this year's Black Stump Festival. We will hit stage at 8pm on Saturday, October 4th. This mainstage appearance will be the official Australian launch for the "Live Humanitarian" DVD. The DVD will be a double digipak release! Delux supremo! In more huge Mort news, Dave Kilgallon has officially joined the band on drums. Firstly and most importantly, Mick and myself would like to thank Damien Percy for his amazing 3 year commitment to the band. Damien being involved with us for "Erasing The Goblin" and "Live Humaniatian", plus the related tours, was another great chapter in the Mortification history. Damien, your dedication and input to Mort has been truly tremendous. You have blessed many people with your skill and ideas. It is great to have a growing family of Mortification members and friends. I recognised Dave Kilgallon's drumming prowess 2 years ago when hearing his band Scourged Flesh. Dave, along with Vaughan Gregory (Grave Forsaken), were a big part of the "Live Humanitarian" DVD concert even happening. Damien was playing Dave's kit on the night in Perth, Western Australia, when the DVD was filmed. Since the recording of "Live Humanitarian", I have been involved in personally supporting both Scourged Flesh and Grave Forsaken releases. Dave will remain living in Perth and continue his drumming commitments with Scourged Flesh and Grave Forsaken. Dave Kilgallon is an awesome young talent. Dave was over here in Melbourne recently for an extensive time of rehearsing both the new set list and songs for next year's new studio album. Dave will return in September as we prepare for the Black Stump show and once again work on new material. The new songs are sounding massive! ...and so begins a new chapter in Mort history. I am planning a "warm up" show in Melbourne for October 1st. Watch this space for details. Dave will be back here once again in February as we prepare to spend the entire month of March next year recording the 14th Mortification opus. Last, but absolutely not least, a huge "Thank You" to all who responded to last month's Update with financial support for my ongoing medical expenses and the Mortification mission. With cuts in government funding, under our newly elected Labor Party, for vital health products and equipment, my medical debt continues to rise. Plus, doctors have asked that I use more expensive, highly sterile medical products which, of course, are much more costly. I am continuing with my essential alternative health products due to the help from you, our most generous supporters. Band expenses are high and sales much lower due to people stealing our music from the internet. In the 90's Mortification sold one quarter of a million units. Sales in this decade, from 4 studio albums and many CD and DVD re-issues, are around 10% of that. Like all metal bands big and small, by the end of this decade we will hopefully be at about 20% of last decade's sales. Considering that the "Live Planetarium" DVD re-issue has sold under 2000 copies worldwide and that over 140,000 people have watched the YouTube clip of "Scrolls of The Megilloth" - you do the math. The "Scrolls..." clip was a classic addition to the '93 "Live Planetarium" video package. I love YouTube and how it has exposed all of our clips to a new generation of metal fans, creating some strong discussion about Christianity and metal music. YouTube is not stealing. But with the viewers of our clips all giving 4.5 to 5 star ratings, imagine the stealing of our music that is going on. Return to math 1! Of course, I was never involved with putting our clips on YouTube - it was done by fans without my permission. I am not angry about this. However, I will personally place 1 or 2 clips on YouTube from the new "Live Humanitarian" release. Fans will be stopped very quickly if this DVD ends up on YouTube! I will also YouTube myself later in the year in an ad directing people to where they can purchase the high quality DVDs. Mortification is NOT surviving financially and I wear the brunt of this. I will always continue in this mission because it is my calling to do so, but if the stealing does not stop - this mission may have to. I know how much Mort means to thousands of people. The emails that you, our great supporters, send me are the fuel that keeps us going. Metal Blade Records has confirmed the signing of OVERCAST — the reunited Massachusetts band which features in its ranks KILLSWITCH ENGAGE bassist Mike D'Antonio and SHADOWS FALL singer Brian Fair. The group will release "Reborn to Kill Again", a collection of re-recorded versions of more than a dozen of the group's classic tracks, along with two previously unreleased songs, the 22nd of August in D/A/CH/I and the 25th of August in the rest of Europe!
The CD was recorded with Adam Dutkiewicz (KILLSWITCH ENGAGE) at the helm. Commented Fair: "Finally, after much waiting and wondering if it would ever see the light of day, OVERCAST is 'reborn to kill again! We are all very excited to be working with Metal Blade Records for this release. It is a legendary label that has been home to some of the most influential bands in metal history. It was actually Metal Blade who gave OVERCAST our first release on CD as part of one of the 'Metal Massacre' comps way back in the day, so it seems as if everything is coming full circle. The time has come once again for the beast known as OVERCAST to rise again. You have been warned." Brian Slagel of Metal Blade Records added, "We are greatly honored to be able to work with and put out such a legendary artist as OVERCAST." „Inferna Profundus Records“ keeps surprising with its productivity. On July 15th, in the middle of the summer it will present its newest release – the new album by Svartthron called „Bearer of the Crimson Flame“.
The one man band Svartthron shook hands with „Inferna Profundus Records“ more than half a year ago, thus expanding its band list. Following half a year period since the deal was made, results show in the form of a 7 track unorthodox Black Metal album called „Bearer of the Crimson flame“. Tomhet, the leader of the project, described the sound of the album as Black Metal with elements of Doom Metal, therefore this release should be interesting not only for the traditional Black Metal fans. The album‘s appeal rises even more, because the vocals were done by Mordance, the vocalist of the Australian band PAROXYSMAL DESCENT. This must be the only album released in Lithuania to include a guest musician from abroad. Tomhet says: „despite the huge distance between me and Mordance everything went on very well. Mordance was very enthusiastic since the beginning and forged ideas for the concept of the album and wrote lyrics. The result amazed me – powerful and at the same time painful vocals, that create a misanthropic, angry atmosphere“. Its a deeply conceptual album about a one man‘s story. Different songs are like different stories with a prologue, culmination and resolution. Traditionally the negative atsmophere prevails in all of the tracks where lyrics perform an important function. „Bearer of the Crimson Flame“ is released on two different formats: the traditional CD and a 6 pannel limited edition digi CD. Different formats have a different design, the author of which is Tomhet himself. CD will be released in co-operation with Nocturnal Woodlands Production. The startlingly diverse and mammoth sound of the British quintet ARCHITECTS was perfectly captured on the critically acclaimed Ruin, an album that Kerrang! called “bloody gargantuan.” Unfortunately, the sophomore effort saw a limited release in the UK and Canada. However, thanks to a new worldwide deal with Century Media Records, songs like “Buried at Sea” and “Heartless” are not lost to the rest of the globe’s ears, as the album will now see a North American release on August 5th. Finnish warmongers TURISAS are currently working on their 1st DVD which will be out later this year - but not only that: They are currently also rerecording their crowd favourite “Battle Metal”. Since it is high time to finally have an official video-clip for the song and also to pay tribute to their dedicated fans (without whom there is obviously no such thing as a crowd favourite) they want YOU, those fans, to take part in their video for “Battle Metal 2008”!

It is of course very flattering as these people have usually put down a lot of working hours preparing themselves for the shows - something not every band can expect from their fans.
