2011-06-28
We regret to announce that Ozzy Osbourne has been forced to cancel Saturday evening's performance at Graspop Metal Meeting. Regretfully, Ozzy has severe laryngitis and his doctor has ordered an immediate 72 hours vocal rest before further evaluation. Says Ozzy: "I was so looking forward to performing at the legendary Graspop Metal Meeting. It really pains me to let people down and it is with great disappointment that I am unable to perform for the great fans of Belgium."

We wish him all the best of course!

One Man Army lineup changes
2011-06-28
ONE MAN ARMY AND THE UNDEAD QUARTET's Johan released a new facebook note about how the rehearsals are going - and about a guy named Pierre Lysell:

"We really are close to perfection now :-)

It just feels great to get back in our death metal shape again after being away for some while now.

Anyway, (...) there has been some major changes in the band. I will not go into any details right now but yes, Mattias is no longer in the band. He was very dedicated to music but his vision kind of crashed with how we wanted to proceed with The Army. There is no need in going into more details.

Our new bandmember is called Pierre Lysell. An awesome guy in any way. But we are kinda taking it day by day with him to see if both he and us can be together for the long run. As you all know we have had pretty bad luck when it comes to guitar players in the past. But so far it has been totally great so in a few weeks we can hopefully give you more info on the matter."

Stroszek sign with Hypnotic Dirge Records
2011-06-28
STROSZEK, the band founded by FROSTMOON ECLIPSE guitarist Claudio Alcara, has inked a deal with Canadian label Hypnotic Dirge Records for the release of the band’s third full length album. Titled “Sound Graveyard Bound”, the nine-track album is scheduled for release during the latter part of 2011.

Alcara, who along with STROSZEK band mates Richard on drums and Davide on bass, is better known for his work with FROSTMOON ECLIPSE, one of the longest serving Italian Black Metal bands which earlier this year released their fifth full length album on Osmose Productions. Whilst FROSTMOON ECLIPSE mixes old school Black Metal with acoustic interludes, STROSZEK allows Alcara to perform the much more melodic and introspective style of music that he himself listens to, and indeed, “Sound Graveyard Bound” features a cover version of MIKE JOHNSON’s “If The World Hadn’t Gone Insane”.

Commenting on the new album Alcara said “With the first release I tended to keep my vocals very far back in the mix. As a guitarist I wasn’t used to being the centre of attention, and my vocal style is certainly not that of a “screamer”, on the contrary, I’m rather laid back, but after three albums I’m confident that my vocal style suits the music, so this time I’m not too worried about hiding behind the instruments”.

As well as the 2007 debut album “Songs of Remorse” and 2009’s “Life’s Failures Made Music”, STROSZEK also released the “Wild Hunt” EP in 2009, which sold out within days of it having been announced. As with all the songs he writes for STROSZEK, “Sound Graveyard Bound” is very much an intimate journey through Alcara’s life which is highlighted by his distinctive and versatile guitar style that can alternate between heavy riffing and a fragile poignancy.

October Falls to enter studio
2011-06-28
OCTOBER FALLS will start recording the successor to their critically-acclaimed "A Collapse Of Faith" album in August.

"The Plague Of A Coming Age" will contain nine hymns and will represent a step forward from the band's previous material.

Once again, M. Tarvonen of MOONSORROW fame will handle drums on this new full-length. The cover is being painted, as we speak, by Argentinian artist Santiago Caruso.

This new piece of Black Metal with folk influences should be released in winter 2011.

Behemoth back in the rehearsal room
2011-06-28
Behemoth hasn't rehearsed as a band since Nergal was diagnosed with Leukemia in 2010. Since then, Nergal has undergone chemo therapy and a bone marrow transplant. Now, for the first time in over a year, Behemoth is back in the rehearsal space working on old and new songs.

Vocalist/guitarist Nergal has issued the following update: "Sooo, first rehearsals after the transplant are under our belts! I didn't want to get overexcited at first, just wanted to see how things would go, but I have to tell you…the second rehearsal we fuckin' nailed "Ov Fire And The Void", "Lucifer", "Conquer All" or "Antichristian Phenomenon" flawlessly! One of us even asked: 'Did we really take a year off from each other?' Ha ha… it was good times in great company! But the biggest surprise were the songs we NEVER played live ever and planning to do on the upcoming "Phoenix Rising Tour". I won't reveal any names yet, let it be a mystery til we hit the stage, all right?"

"In other news, I started jamming out some NEW shit too…too early to give any further comments but it sounds VERY disturbing and eerie. Can't fuckin wait to unleash those ideas to my friends…"

In Flames Number 1 in Germany
2011-06-28
IN FLAMES are number 1 in the official German Media Control Charts with their new album „Sounds Of A Playground Fading"! (source: charts.de)

Antje Lange, Label manager of Century Media:

„Dear members of the community of heavy Rock Music,

IN FLAMES landed on number 1 in the official Media Control Charts in Germany with their new album “Sounds Of A Playground Fading"! (source: charts.de)

We are more than happy about this amazing result and would like to thank everybody for their share in this huge success:

- A massive “thank you” goes out to you, the fans, who supported the band, believed in them and went out to buy the album instead of just downloading it from the internet for free.

- all journalists who supported and featured the band

- the whole team at Century Media who had to work overtime in order to achieve nothing, but simply the best

- the whole team at EMI who worked hard on making this happen

Last, but not least we would like to thank IN FLAMES! You recorded an amazing album. Together with your dynamic and supportive management team you have worked hard on your success for many years.

For decades the metal and rock community has not been taken seriously – but you just cannot ignore a Number 1. Hence, I see the charts as a big success for metal and rock in general! This week IN FLAMES have surpassed artists such as Pietro Lombardi, Adele, Tim Benzko, Lady Gaga and many more who usually get more attention than them.“

IN FLAMES reaction to the German charts: “This is absolutely amazing!!! We know that we’ve made a good album and of course hope for the best but this is beyond our expectations! Thanks to everyone at Century Media who has been working really hard to achieve this and thanks to all the people, our fans, out there who bought the album the first week.”

Still, this is not the only piece of great news, but IN FLAMES also went straight into the charts in several countries, some of which are Top 10:

Germany: #1
German Download Charts (album): #9
Sweden : #2
Austria: #6
Norway : #10
Denmark : #25
France : #34
UK Midweek Charts: #39
UK Rock Charts: #6
Belgium: #55

Since several countries have not raised their charts yet we keep our fingers crossed for additional results.

Dark Forest sign with Cruz Del Sur Music
2011-06-22
Cruz del Sur Music welcomes DARK FOREST to the label's ever-expanding roster, having just inked a recent deal for the band's upcoming album.

A young band based out of Birmingham, England, DARK FOREST has been knocking skulls around for a few years now, after the release of their self titled debut album on Eyes Like Snow Records in January 2009. Their traditional take on heavy metal is as British-sounding as some of the best NWOBHM bands, reinterpreted with a modern production’s punch able to make them stand out alone. If your heart has a soft spot for Iron Maiden, Angel Witch, Isen Torr or early Deep Purple, DARK FOREST boasts the kind of fist-pumping old-school classic metal to make your day.

DARK FOREST entered the studio on Saturday, June 18th, and began the process of recording their second full-length, Dawn of Infinity, which will be released by Cruz Del Sur Music in the fall of 2011. More news will follow during the Summer months...

Megadeth classic remastered
2011-06-22
Megadeth’s vital, Platinum-certified album, Peace Sells… But Who’s Buying?, has been digitally remastered for the first time and expanded for a commemorative 25th Anniversary release in multiple configurations on July 12 by Capitol/EMI. All of the versions, including a 2CD lift-top box, digital album, and a deluxe 5Disc+3LP box set, include a previously unreleased 1987 concert from the band’s first world tour and new liner notes written by Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine and Metallica’s Lars Ulrich.

The deluxe box set also includes previously unreleased and rare mixes of the album’s tracks and hi res audio for the remastered album and concert, as well as an expanded 20-page book, plus 8”x10” photos and reproductions of vintage Megadeth memorabilia. The cover of the box uses a new, unique process of lenticular 3D which reinterprets the original cover, creating the illusion of Megadeth’s Vic Rattlehead character jumping out of the art.

Released in 1986, Peace Sells… But Who’s Buying? was Megadeth’s second album and the band’s first Capitol/EMI release. The acclaimed album thrust Megadeth into the international spotlight, and it remains a powerful thrash metal staple.

In his liner notes for the new edition, Dave Mustaine reflects on writing the album’s title track: “I had written other lyrics by now, but there was something different about ‘Peace Sells’ because it told my story about my faith; my beliefs; my distrust of government; my work ethic; my integrity. This was MY song.”

“If there’s a new way, I’ll be the first in line”

“Amen!,” continues Mustaine. “I was so tired of not shaving, not bathing, not eating, not having a home, a companion, NOTHING. Yeah, I’ll be the first in line, but it had better work this time. Well, it was working, thank God, just fast enough for what I needed, but not nearly as fast as I would hope.

"Whether you heard this record for the first time in 1986, or you hear this record for the first time today or tomorrow, Peace Sells is a great heavy metal album," writes Lars Ulrich in his liner notes for the new edition. "Nothing more, nothing less. It has stood the test of time. And will continue to do so."

Dave Mustaine pioneered the hugely successful Megadeth after his departure from Metallica. Beginning with the band’s 1985 debut album, Killing Is My Business…And Business Is Good!, and evolving through a shifting series of lineups, Megadeth has crafted a dynamic, intelligent style that combines the aggressiveness of thrash metal, the improvisational nature of jazz, and cynical, articulate, politically-charged lyrics into an innovative mix that has built a rabid worldwide following.

For nearly three decades, Megadeth has taken heavy metal into the future – musically, lyrically, and culturally. The band has enjoyed great success on Billboard’s album and single charts, including three Top 10 titles on the Top 200 Albums chart and four Top 10 Modern Rock singles, “Almost Honest,” “Trust,” “Breadline,” and “Crush ‘Em.”

With defiance and grace, through unusual quality and intelligence, Megadeth has raised a generation on a diet of truth serum and bitter pills. Instead of being kicked to the curb for their insolence, they’ve been rewarded with nine Grammy Award nominations, six Gold, five Platinum, and one double Platinum albums, and three Gold-certified DVD releases, in addition to last year’s double Platinum concert DVD, The Big 4: Live From Sofia, Bulgaria.

German Thrashers DEW-SCENTED have a bunch of good news to spread including more festival appearances.

”Hey Thrashers! The summer season and all its festival madness is getting started over here now, so we thought it would be good timing to check in with some short news. Things are still rather quiet on the DEW-SCENTED front and that has to do with us working on new song material in the background. Nevertheless, we have recently confirmed two more summer festival shows, making it a total of 4 live shows coming up for 2011. Make sure to catch/meet us at
