Six Feet Under announce cover details
2009-11-06
Tampa, FL's kings of groove laden death metal SIX FEET UNDER are back with their 3rd installment of the band's cover series, Graveyard Classics 3, due out on Metal Blade Records January 19th 2010. Graveyard Classics 3 was recorded at D.O.I. Digital Audio in Tampa, FL, was mixed at Audiohammer Studios by Mark Lewis, and was produced by Chris Barnes.

Here's what the godfather of gore and death Chris Barnes has to say about the band's latest chapter in the Graveyard Classics chain:

“We went about picking the tracks for this installment of Graveyard Classics by really just trying to search out songs from early on in our musical upbringing, as well as tracks from when we were just fans of heavy music, before we started playing in a band. Once again choosing songs that have really stuck with us over the years, also choosing the songs that we felt would sound interesting when played in the SFU ‘death groove' style.

Through the years of doing covers, many of our fans have inquired about us covering a Slayer or a Metallica song. It was really something we wanted to do for some time, those two bands being our biggest influences, as well as influencing a generation of death metal musicians.

To sum it up…this is a tribute to honor the great teachers that have influenced us as well as the world of metal we all belong to. We hope our fans will enjoy.“

Track listing for Graveyard Classics 3:
1. A Dangerous Meeting- Mercyful Fate
2. Metal On Metal- Anvil
3. The Frayed Ends Of Sanity- Metallica

6. On Fire-Van Halen

Morbus Chron sign with Pulverised Records
2009-11-06
From the bowels of Stockholm, Sweden comes a band (dead)icated to the early '90s zombie and gore themes that helped make death metal a worldwide phenomenon. Pulverised Records is proud to welcome MORBUS CHRON to their expanding roster of extremity.

Sticking to the tradition of DIY demo cassette tapes, MORBUS CHRON released a self-titled, four-track demo tape earlier this year, which attracted favorable responses throughout the underground metal circuit. The band is now preparing to enter the studio, for what will become their debut full-length. Release date TBA.

Commented Pulverised label manager Roy Yeo: “I was amazed by MORBUS CHRON when I first heard them; it's unbelievable that the band is so young and can capture the essence of the old death metal style. Influences like Autopsy and early Entombed are easily spotted in the songs, but there's just a certain fire and enthusiasm coming from MORBUS CHRON that cannot be described and we are very much looking forward to the debut album!”

States MORBUS CHRON vocalist/guitarist Robert “Robba” Andersson: “We're as excited as we are when robbing graves! Feels fucking great! Like opening a can of ravioli, but even better, dude. What can we say? It'll sound disgusting and putrid with just a tiny dose of grooviness. New songs are on the way and it sounds like Autop... Ehm, MORBUS! If you're into the old way, you’re into our way. Total fuckin' Death!”

In other MORBUS CHRON-related news, the band will make their appearance at the upcoming Resurrected In Festering Slime Festival, happening at the legendary Kafé 44 from the 6th – 7th November 2009.

From the metal loving city of Montreal comes one of the most killer riff machines this side of the 3 headed love child of Iron Maiden, Thin Lizzy and Fu Manchu. BARN BURNER have been cruising around Canada over the past few years spreading their love of the riff, good times and are ready to spread their beard encrusted rock to the rest of the world.

Metal Blade Records will be giving their debut album, Bangers, its official world wide release in 2010. The album has already received tons of praise from press from Canada to the UK from the album's original release via New Romance for Kids Records.

“Montreal's Barn Burner is one of the most impressive Sabbath-inspired bands we've heard in a long time. The band's newest offering, Bangers (New Romance for Kids), is pure stoney mayhem. “The good news at first. We almost finished the mix and mastering of the new album. The artwork-process is doing well, too and the final cover, title and release date will be announced shortly. Moreover there are some new partners at our site, such as Perfidy Clothing and Brutal Knack Clothing.

The bad news: As you might have noticed our drummer had an accident. He's unable to play for a couple of weeks. Luckily enough we were able to get a stand-in drummer which is Phillip from Dying Eternity. We had some rehearsals together and things are working out quite well!”

Toxic Holocaust in religious controversy
2009-11-01
TOXIC HOLOCAUST and tour partners THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER were the topic of a heated debate amongst Nashville, TN’s most conservative residents about the bands’ performances this week at the Christian-run Rocketown venue. A news segment from Nashville’s ABC network affiliate WKRN, Channel 2 chronicling the controversy can be viewed here.

TOXIC HOLOCAUST’s Joel Grind commented on the situation: “Unfortunately, the protesters here don't see the tongue-in-cheek aspect of any of this, and are taking everything at face value. What else is new? Whatever you do don't look into or research anything, and don't, god forbid, think differently. Fuck it, while we're at it, don't think at all.

To clear a few things up, there was a news clip that showed our video "Nuke the Cross" and then directly cut to lyrics for a song called "Hang the Pope". Even though we did record a cover of that song on our first demo, that song is actually by Nuclear Assault. I think that was done intentionally to make the story have more impact and more shock value.

Secondly, I want to thank the people running Rocketown for allowing this show to go on despite the protests. It just proves that being Christian and being closed minded doesn’t have to be synonymous with each other.

Everyone has a right to believe in whatever they want. If it empowers you and doesn't infringe on anyone else, then I'm all for it. Sadly the herd mentality of organized religion doesn't work like that. It's too much of a threat to the very foundation on which it’s based. Let's end organized religion and stop the real evil in this world.”

TOXIC HOLOCAUST are in the middle of their month-long US tour with THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER. The band will then head to Europe for a three week co-headlining tour with SKELETONWITCH and GOATWHORE. This run of dates kicks-off on November 27th in the Netherlands. A listing of confirmed tour dates and cities can be found here with more to be announced soon.

Throne of Katarsis announce new line-up
2009-10-31
Norwegian Black Metal cult Throne Of Katarsis (Candlelight Records) have recently expanded their line-up after seven unholy years being a duo. Founding members Infamroth (guitars/vocals) and Vardalv (battery) have now decided to include Sanrabb, known from Gehenna (Indie Recordings), to take care of the bass-guitar permanently in the band. Having been in the Black Metal scene since the early 90's, Sanrabb sure is a solid choice of band-member. Currently writing their next studio-album, all three are already deeply involved in the creative process.

Comment from the band:
"Sanrabb was supposed to become our second session bass-player, but after rehearsal we understood right away that we needed this person in the band. The extreme negative energy he managed to fill the whole room with fitted us perfectly, we managed to use this to create a darker feel to the music and I think you could say we drag each other down, mentally. We have already started creating new tracks for our next album, and so far these seems more progressive than before and far more depressing. Truely more intense and harder-hitting than before!"

This means that former session bass-player Lord Imalas is out after five years on stage with the band:
"This was a natural development for the band, and no personal issues were ever involved. Lord Imalas has been a reliable and very talented bass-player, as well as a great person to deal with on tours. Respect to this man for sticking with us all these years!"

The band is currently looking for a new management for tours and festivals to promote their latest album, "Helvete - Det Iskalde Mørket" (Candlelight 2009).
