With the booking of Miseration (S), Whispering Gallery (NL) and A New Dawn (NL) the line-up for the first edition of Brainstorm Festival is complete. The event takes place from 21 till 23 November 2008 in club Gigant in Apeldoorn, The Netherlands.
Miseration is the new band of vocalist Christian Älvestam (Scar Symmetry) and guitarist Jani Stefanovic (Mehida, ex-Am I Blood). The band just inked a deal with Lifeforce Records which will re-release their debut-cd 'Your Demons – Their Angels' in October. After the show during Brainstorm Festival vocalist Reinier Vreeswijk will leave Whispering Gallery. It makes the show of this atmospheric metalband even more interesting. In the past Whispering Gallery toured with Within Temptation. The gothic-metal sensation A New Dawn is a rising star within the European gothic-metal scene. This year the band released their album 'Falling From Grace' and since then A New Dawn is playing in all important clubs in Holland and Belgium. The band will also visit Italy this year and of course deserves a spot during Brainstorm Festival. During the last months Brainstorm Festival already booked the following bands: Seventh Angel (UK), Rebellion (D), Eluveitie (CH), Thy Majestie (ITA), Seventh Avenue (D), Mehida (FIN/S) with vocalist Thomas Vikström of Therion, Morphia (NL), Mena Brinno (USA), World To Ashes (D) en Picture Of The Moon (NL). For the Dutch doom-band Morphia the show during Brainstorm Festival is special, as it will be their farewell. After more then ten years and three full-length albums the band has decided to quit. DVD-recordings will be made of this special show. Besides Morphia also Thy Majestie will shoot a professional DVD during the festival, that also offers room for seminars and exposition. Rebellion, Mehida and Thy Majestie will present their new albums live during Brainstorm Festival. More information can be found on www.brainstormfestival.com. The festival is sponsored by Aardschok, Rock Tribune, Powermetal.de and Legacy.

| Gotthard guitarist opens restaurant |
2008-07-04
GOTTHARD guitarist Leo Leoni hangs his guitar on the wall – but just literally spoken, in his own restaurant: on July, 3rd, Leo opens it together with his sister Evelyne. The restaurant is called "Grotthard", is built in the regionally traditional "grotto" style and is placed in a small village called Capriasca close to Lugano in Switzerland ´s Tessin. Next to delicious home made food and traditional specialities from the area you can also find a little rock museum in the restaurant and watch all gold and platinum awards of the band as well as some instruments and other nice things. Leo ´s job with GOTTHARD, of course, is not affected by that - Evelyne and his friends take care of Grottard.
| New Bloodbath album out in October |
2008-07-04
‘Bloodbath have been responsible for some of the finest Swedish death metal of the last decade.’ Metal Hammer
Mikael Åkerfeldt (Opeth) Vocals Martin ‘Axe’ Axenrot (Opeth) Drums Anders ‘Blakkheim’ Nyström (Katatonia) Guitars Jonas Renkse (Katatonia) Bass Per 'Sodomizer' Eriksson - Guitars. Bloodbath are an extreme metal supergroup from Stockholm, Sweden. Formed in 1998 with a mutual fascination for the glory days of death metal, the band’s line up has changed and evolved throughout the years, featuring the elite of Swedish metal. The next chapter of this brutal saga arrives on October 6th 2008 with the release of the new studio album, The Fathomless Mastery. Hints of what the album may possess were provided by Unblessing The Purity, the mini-album released earlier this year on Peaceville Records. Described by Metal Hammer as ‘a near-flawless celebration of Swedish brutality’ and by Zero Tolerance as ‘a slab of storming, top-quality death metal’, the mini-album has set the bar high. ‘Unblessing The Purity’ also featured the return of Opeth’s Mikael Åkerfeldt on vocal duties and arrival of Per 'Sodomizer' Eriksson (ex-21 Lucifers, ex-Genocrush Ferox) on guitar, joining Katatonia’s Anders Nyström and Jonas Renkse and Martin “Axe” Axenrot, also from Opeth. This line-up has once again reunited for The Fathomless Mastery which they have described as representing ‘nothing but hateful brutality.’ Promising their ‘most crushing production yet’ few would dare to argue with the band’s claim that...‘Bloodbath is here to slay, Bloodbath is here to stay!’ The Wacken Carnage, a CD + DVD set featuring the bands rare live performance at the 2005 Wacken Festival is also now available on Peaceville Records.

“We regret to announce that we have been forced to cancel our appearance at Metal Camp in Slovenia this Sunday due to our singer Eric Kalsbeek suffering throat problems. After having his throat examined at the hospital, doctors found out that Eric had an abnormal reaction to allergies which has resulted in loss of voice and throat problems. A few weeks of prescribed rest and medication will have him back on his feet before you know it. Sorry to everyone who was excited to see us on this year's Metal Camp, we truly hope to make up for it in the near future.”
| Bleed The Sky announce new lineup |
2008-07-02
Oklahoma City’s BLEED THE SKY are proud to announce they’re ready to hit the road in support of their “end-all, be-all” new album, Murder The Dance - released on June 10th and produced & engineered by Christian Olde Wolbers (Fear Factory), mixed by Ben Schigel (Chimaira, Drowning Pool), and mastered by Matt Rosebery. Visit the bands MySpace Page for tour dates.
BLEED THE SKY vocalist Noah Robinson shares some additional information about the album: “We had several guest vocalists on Murder The Dance. A lot of people think that you only bring in guest vocalists when you yourself are out of ideas, but that couldn't be further from the truth. First off, we had our friend Jeremy Hall [from San Diego-based bands Audkik & Dying Regret] come in to track ‘The Sleeping Beauty.’ Nobody understood the meaning of this song more than him, and when I explained that to him, he said he'd be honored. Once we had our vocals tracked on ‘Occam's Razor,’ we were listening back to it and [producer] Christian [Wolbers] suggested Martina Axen [former Drain STH drummer] come in and guest. She was thrilled and I could not have been happier to see her in action. Last but certainly not least was our boy Jon ‘The Hoff’ Howard [vocalist for Canadian-based label mates Threat Signal] tracking vocals on ‘Vertical Smile.’ We've all been huge fans of Threat Signal even before they were signed, so we seized this opportunity to finally get to work with Jon. The new line-up is… let me put it this way: Our video director David Brodsky beat us into the ground when were shooting for ‘Sullivan,’ and everyone was headbanging like maniacs at 8 a.m. without an audience and without even stretching or warming up. Things can only get better once we’re back on the road. I’ll say it again and again - I can’t wait to show everyone the new BLEED THE SKY!”
| One Day As A Lion sign with ANTI |
2008-07-02
Anti- Records is pleased to announce the signing of One Day As A Lion. An on-going creative collaboration between two like-conscioused individuals, One Day As A Lion will release their eponymous debut EP worldwide on July 21st.
The band writes: “One Day As A Lion is both a warning delivered and a promise kept.” “A defiant affirmation of the possibilities that exist in the space between kick and snare. It’s a sonic reflection of the visceral tension between a picturesque fabricated cultural landscape, and the brutal socioeconomic realities it attempts to mask. One Day As A Lion is a recorded interaction between Zack de la Rocha and Jon Theodore from Los Angeles, California.” “The name taken from the infamous 1970 black and white, captured by legendary Chicano photographer George Rodriguez featuring a center framed tag on a white wall in an unspecified section of Boyle Heights. It reads: ‘It’s better to live one day as a lion, than a thousand years as a lamb.’ This record is a stripped down attempt to realize this sentiment in sound.” One Day As A Lion: Zack de la Rocha (vocals / keyboards) Jon Theodore (drums) The songs: 01 - Wild International 02 – Ocean View 03 – Last Letter 04 – If You Fear Dying 05 – One Day As A Lion The details: Recorded by Robert Carranza at Ocean Way Recording Mixed by Mario C at MCJ Studio

Time to break the silence. It's been a long time since we gave you an update on what's happening in the SUSPERIA camp. You may think we've been sitting around doing nothing, but we actually got our asses into gear and have been working hard writing and doing pre-production work for the next album. We have about ten songs on the go at various stages of completion and everything is going well. Our creative juices are flowing!! At this moment we're in hard, fast and melodic mode. Athera is in free flow with the lyrics. It's still early days, so we can't give you a full idea of what to expect yet, who knows what's coming!!
We'll keep you updated- in the meantime stay heavy!! You may already be aware that in August we get the chance to escape from working on the album. We will play at the Metal Rock Festival www.metalrockfest.no Lillehammer, Norway on Saturady 16th August. We're playing alongside Opeth, My Dying Bride and a load of other cool bands, so get yourself down there for a good time. We'll let you know our stage time soon.

Our boys of DEW-SCENTED have gone where no Thrash Metal act has gone before: to a German TV quiz show! Frontman Leif Jensen had fun: "We also ended up being part of a quiz show with the whole band on national TV here in Germany. We were "special" guests with the full band at the RTL daily quiz show "Einer gegen Hundert" (Translates to "1 vs. 100") (www.rtl.de/tv/tv_963090.php) and had a fun ride trying to answer tons of questions the right way ;-) Our appearance(s) as special audience-candidates (No, we aren’t performing music there, we are "Metalhead-Guests"…) will be broadcasted between Monday June 30th and Tuesday July 8th on RTL at 5 PM. Check it out if you are from Germany or have access to this channel!" SO don´t forget to tune in and also don´t miss the band on their festivals shows! Check the dates below!
