East of the Wall sign with Translation Loss
2009-10-31
Translation Loss Records are extremely excited to announce the addition of New Jersey's EAST OF THE WALL to their roster!

Born from the dissolution of the Postman Syndrome and Day Without Dawn, EAST OF THE WALL has been hard at work crafting their complex and varied sound, drawing inspiration from a wide range of emotions and ideas. EAST OF THE WALL’s sound straddles the line between an engulfing ambience and crushing force that dissolves into beautiful melodies seamlessly. Translation Loss Records will be releasing a three way split release from East Of The Wall, Rosetta and Year Of No Light late 2009. The material is the ultimate precursor to what will be their stunning Translation Loss debut. EAST OF THE WALL have release records on indie label Forgotten Empire Records.

Said Brett Bamberger from EAST OF THE WALL on the signing: "We are so fortunate to be on a roster full of artists who we respect and appreciate so much, not to mention having this excellent opportunity to do business with such a hard working operation of great people. On the road ahead we will be focusing extensively on writing, recording, touring, touring, touring. We have about half of our next full length written, which thus far in content is a bit more technically involved than our last LP. We want to extend our thanks to all the people who have helped us along the way, most especially Brandon Helms, Dave Grossman, and Dave Witte. Looking so forward to our time ahead with TL. Cheers - East of The Wall"

Drew Juergens from Translation Loss on the signing and co-release: "We are very excited to have EAST OF THE WALL on the label and help them release their next opus. They are an amazing force to behold live and if their material on the three way split we are releasing at the end of this year is any indication of the level of musicianship we will all bear witness to for their next full length, I can only imagine what kind of greatness is on the horizon for the band."

What folks are saying about EAST OF THE WALL:
"Those on the prowl for progressive, dynamic post-metal that injects lushness and warmth into technically shrewd and structurally sound compositions will easily find something on Farmer's Almanac to bang their brainy heads to" - Alternative Press

"The music crafted here is wiry and flush with layers of depth while still being immediately vibrant and lively...Melodies are tempered into careening metal, slow build-up's reveal moments of beautifully serene clarity and patience dictates a steady pace" - ThePrP

"They excel at drawing out that peak-of-a-solo mood and transitioning into something even angrier rather than downshifting...You can't replicate this in your home" - The Silent Ballet

"So many rich sounds swirling around my head. So much emotion and passion with every struck string...It’s almost as if the musicians are having a conversation through their instruments" - Ripple Music

2009-10-29
In a sudden and unexpected move, multi-platinum hard rock artist Rob Zombie has inked a new worldwide deal with leading rock label Roadrunner Records through its Loud & Proud imprint.

Jeroen Paul Thesseling rejoins Pestilence
2009-10-29
OBSCURA bassist Jeroen Paul Thesseling, who played on PESTILENCE's fourth album 'Spheres' (1993), will rejoin the Dutch death metallers PESTILENCE after a break of 15 years. Thesseling, known for his six-string fretless signature, joined the German progressive death metal band OBSCURA in late 2007 and recorded their second full-length album 'Cosmogenesis', released in February this year. "After such a long period of time it's great to be part of PESTILENCE again. I'm convinced that this cooperation will result in brilliant technical death metal. In order to avoid misunderstandings I want to emphasize that I will continue to work with my German colleagues of OBSCURA as well.", says Jeroen in a statement on his website.

Patrick Mameli stated:
I'm very happy to welcome Jeroen once more to the Pestilence camp. Also a big thanks goes out to Tony Choy, who succesfully participated on the 'Resurrection' album and tour. We all wish him the best of luck in the future!!! Tony is just too busy that we had to find a suitable replacement. I'm convinced that Jeroen, just like Tony on 'Resurrection' , will put his signature on this new Pestilence album, that fans really don't have to compare these two great bass players with eachother. Both have a great style. Also, I would like to stress that, by no means, this collaboration with Jeroen, will result in a 'Spheres' part 2, since this is not our goal. Our goal is to create the most brutal and technical Pestilence album ever. I'm currently composing new songs with the 8 string IBANEZ, which will give Pestilence a new dimension in our own style. Keywords: Low, chuncky and a-tonal morbidity!!! So be ready to be blown away!!!

As I Lay Dying wins video award
2009-10-29
The 13th Annual Hollywood Film Festival's "Hollywood Awards" ceremony was held last night before a standing-room-only audience of over 1,100 Hollywood Film Festival attendees at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills.

The winners of the festival's film competition were announced Sunday night at the "Hollywood Discovery Awards Presentation Ceremony at ArcLight Cinemas in Hollywood. This year's winners are: "CROSSING" by Kim Tae-kyun -- Best Feature Film; "GARBAGE DREAMS" by Mai Iskander -- Best Documentary; "SCENESTERS" by Todd Berger -- Best Comedy; "STORIES FROM THE PERCH" by Andrew Zimbelman -- Best Animation, "LAMBS" by Stephen Huff -- Best Short Subject, "AS I LAY DYING - THE SOUND OF TRUTH" by Brian Thompson -- Best Music Video.

AS I LAY DYING frontman Tim Lambesis comments on the win “The Sound of Truth video could not have been made without an entire team of amazing people. It was a combination of two individually complex forms of art that came together seamlessly to create one great video I'm very proud of. The basic concept is related to the music and lyrics that we wrote, but Brian Thompson and his whole crew took that beyond what we could have imagined.”

Directed by Brian Thompson, who helmed their futuristic clip for "Nothing Left," the video for "The Sound of Truth" was made at Sound City Studios in Van Nuys, CA and is a continuation of the story the first video initiated. Like its predecessor, the story for this video was conceived by the band, fine-tuned by director Brian Thompson, and displays the irony and hypocrisy that takes place in a decaying futuristic society.

The Great American Beast sign with Trustkill
2009-10-29
The Great American Beast began their attack on listener's ears in early 2008 when the defunct Dayton, Ohio band, The Red Affair, enlisted the help of fellow Dayton veteran, Nick Villars. With a sound best described as "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" meets "Animal House", The Great American Beast's only goal is to play kick ass tunes to kick ass kids in every kick ass city in the country.

Together, TGAB quickly wrote five songs and headed into the studio in early 2008 to record what would be their first five song EP "The Legend of Redwood", a horror movie take on the children's story, 'Jack and Jill'. 2008 saw the band playing their first shows with Jesse Blair on guitar, Nick Villars on vocals, Kipp Adams on guitar, Andy Lazier on drums, Pete DiSalvo on bass and Ben Salmen on organ. They sold over 500 copies of their EP, playing shows with bands like Foxy Shazam, Miss May I, A Skylit Drive, Sky Eats Airplane and Every Time I Die.

The band geared up for their first national tour in May of 2008 and August saw the departure of long time keyboard player Ben Salmen. June of 2009 took the band into Random Awesome Studios in Saginaw, MI with Josh Schroeder producing what would become the band's debut full length debut, "Domestic Blood". In July of 2009, long time friend, Tim Baker took over guitar after Kipp Adams left the band. With the new line-up in place, TGAB is hard at work playing shows and positioning themselves to take over the world.

Speaking on the signing, Pete DiSalvo (Bass) said, "I couldn't think of a better way to spend my 25th birthday weekend than celebrating signing to Trustkill Records, a label that really shows that they want us as much as we want them. It's a really nice feeling knowing that your band is appreciated by the people that matter.

Despite a couple line-up changes, TGAB's general belief has always been the same. Look for their debut album "Domestic Blood" early 2010 on Trustkill.

Mantric sign with Prosthetic Records
2009-10-27
Prosthetic Records is proud to announce the signing of MANTRIC to the label for a worldwide, multi-album deal. Formed in 2007 in Oslo, Norway from the ashes of metal pioneers Extol, MANTRIC takes the visionary songwriting approach of its founding members to new, epic heights.

Fusing a unique, distinctly Scandinavian take on rich, challenging metal and punk with a powerful progressive edge, MANTRIC recorded their upcoming debut in Norway, with studio guru Tue Madsen (Dark Tranquillity, The Haunted) handling mixing and mastering duties. Prosthetic Records quickly recognized that something rather special was developing and are now very happy to have MANTRIC as part of their diverse roster.

The as-yet-untitled MANTRIC debut album is scheduled for worldwide release in February. A special preview track, "Spear Of Heaven," is now online at the official MANTRIC Myspace page at www.myspace.com/mantricofficial.

Commenting on the signing, MANTRIC said in a joint statement: "We are truly satisfied to end up signing with Prosthetic! Our first album using the MANTRIC name to our ears deserves to get out to lovers of hard music all over the world, and Prosthetic makes this possible. We also feel honored to be amongst the quality and variety represented by the bands signed to Prosthetic. Our music embraces creativity and originality outside the limits of narrow genres, so it suits us fine to deal with a label that also values this. This is a release that is both accessible and original, catchy and complex at the same time, and we can't wait to get it out!"

The partnership with MANTRIC is a significant move for Prosthetic, being the label's first worldwide signing of a European band. Prosthetic's European label manager, Duncan Dinsdale, also commented: "I'm very excited to be working with a band of such pedigree. I've been a huge fan of Extol for a long time, and now MANTRIC are making truly urgent music that reaffirms my faith in what challenging heavy music should be."

From the camp of Bielefeld/Germany based black metallers Geïst, here is a message from bass player Alboin:

"Our current synthesizer player Faruk will leave us early 2010, which is why we are on search for a new synthesizer player now. The Accused forced to drop off tour
2009-10-27
A recent message from Seattle punk/metal monarchs, THE ACCUSED: "The members and crew of THE ACCUSED wish to say, 'Thanks!' to all the loyal, diehard Splatter Heads we got to play for and hang out with during our recent western US tour which began late September and wrapped up October 18th in Santa Cruz, CA.

THE ACCUSED would also like to give a special toast to all the new Splatter Heads just joining us! Welcome aboard, folks! You now have Martha Splatterhead on your side, and that's much better than having her as an enemy -- believe us!

ALSO: A very important update regarding the Municipal Waste 2009 tour. Due to scheduling conflicts THE ACCUSED were forced to drop off as support act during one leg of the Municipal Waste US/Canadian tour in November. Other regions with other support acts on the Municipal Waste headlining tour are unaffected as far as we know. A replacement act to fill the void left by THE ACCUSED is pending.

Lots of projects under way at Splatter Headquarters in Seattle! Now is a pretty damned good time to be a Splatter Head, let's just put it that way! Until we meet again, you crazy fuckers, Cheers! If It Don't Splatter, it DON'T FUCKIN' MATTER!"

THE ACCUSED's latest full-length, The Curse Of Martha Splatterhead, is out now on Southern Lord Records. The record was produced by Billy Anderson at Seattle's Soundhouse Recording Studio. The Curse of Martha Splatterhead features 14 tracks of brutal splatter rock mayhem chock full of the band's trademark buzzsaw-guitar riffs and manic, glass-shard-swallowing vocals!

Rage reveal new album details
2009-10-27
RAGE have just presented their new album to an international group of media people. The special event took place at the famous „Nürburgring", where guitar player Victor Smolski had a motorrace same day, which he actually won. „STRINGS TO A WEB" will be released on February, 5th 2010, recorded at the „TWILIGHT HALL STUDIO" and produced by Charlie Bauerfeind (BLIND GUARDIAN, HAMMERFALL and more). The cover artwork was done by Thomas Ewerhard (AVANTASIA, THERION and more), showing their soundchaser as a spider, caught in a web.

"I am really proud of the album, we hardly ever sounded more inspired and it is an absolute highlight in our career", says founding member, bass player and vocalist Peavy Wagner. Drummer André Hilgers is adding: This albums shows all the different faces and characters and I call it the most enormous and multifarious record I ever recorded.". The album is indeed various and unique. It includes melodic and hymnic tracks such as „INTO THE LIGHT" and „THE BEGGAR'S LAST DIME", as well as powerfull Thrash attacks like „PURIFIED" or the final „TOMORROW NEVER COMES". But the heart of the record is the 16minutes lasting masterpiece „EMPTY HOLLOW", a progressive fairytale that unites everything RAGE is about. „You can compare „EMPTY HOLLOW" with our „LINGUA MORTIS SUITE" from the „SPEAK OF THE DEAD" record. Theis song was recorded with an orchestra and is devided into five parts. As a band we have discovered a lot of new possibilities and elements, even in Peavy's vocals, my way of playing guitar or the arrangements in Andre's drumming", says Victor Smolski.

Also the international journalists were convinced and expressed their compliments to the german metal institution. Dayal Patterson of the english METAL HAMMER decribed the record as an „intense, frantic and technical assault tempered by clean sung choruses and harmonies!". His spanish collegue Sergi Ramos of METAL HAMMER stated: „Everything you love about today's RAGE sound plus a dose of old-school thrown in for good medsure.". Patricia Martinez of the french METALLIAN added: „With this new album Rage is coming back with the most powerfull album they ever did"

"STRINGS TO A WEB" will be released on vinyl, jewelcase and a special limited digibook with great bonusmaterial.

Ex Deo shoots new video
2009-10-27
EX DEO, the Ancient Rome themed arsenal lead by KATAKLYSM front man Maurizio Iacono, has recently returned from a successful trek in Europe and are now preparing to take on America alongside ENSIFERUM, HYPOCRISY and BLACKGUARD. The band plans on filming a second epic video for the bands critically acclaimed debut "Romulus". Comments vocalist Maurizio:
"The first videoclip we did was for the title track "Romulus". It was an epic venture into Rome`s birth and mythology, it was more of an introduction, more storytelling. This time we`re gonna do a video that will turn every metal head upside down! "In her dark embrace" will depict a Roman battle scene and we`re not going for airplay, were going for what Rome was: the most brutal and efficient war machine that ever walked the earth. If it`s blood they want, it`s blood they will get, I cant wait to get this done."
