2009-10-20
Grace Perry, vocalist of Phoenix, Arizona's death metal/grind titans, LANDMINE MARATHON, is featured on the cover of the new Revolver Magazine, "Hottest Chicks In Metal" issue. She appears alongside of Halestorm's Lzzy Hale. Grace is also a frequent contributor to Revolver's online blog.

Grace commented, "I am extremely excited and flattered to be on the cover of Revolver. It's such a great opportunity for me to expose Landmine Marathon to a wide range of Metal fans. The whole experience has been a absolute blast, I mean when else am I going to be able to light a microphone on fire!?"

LANDMINE MARATHON just wrapped up their new full length, "Sovereign Descent," at guitarist Ryan Butler's Arcane Digital Recording Studios (Misery Index, Phobia). The album's being mastered by Alan Douches at West West Side Music (Converge, Hatebreed, Dillinger Escape Plan). with art by Dan Seagrave (Entombed, Dismember, Morbid Angel). Zombie Girl brought up in murder case
2009-10-20
Official statement from Alfa Matrix regarding murdercase of Carly Ryan:

It's with great horror that Zombie Girl and Alfa Matrix learned that the tragic death of 15-year old Carly Ryan, brutally murdered in 2007, has been linked with Zombie Girl's "Blood Brains & Rock 'N' Roll" album in an article in the UK newspaper The Daily Mail which was published on Monday, October 19th 2009.

Both Zombie Girl members Renee Cooper and Sebastian R. Komor were shocked to learn that their band and material has been used in reference to young girls posing in a provocative way on social websites. Renee Cooper: "I am shocked, horrified and saddened that a young girl and a fan of Zombie Girl was murdered. My heart goes out to her family and friends. This is a terrible thing. I am just in shock right now. The music and image that I portray on stage is an act. It is not who I am. This is not what the music is about." Ryan was murdered by a fictitious teenager called Brandon - a father and his son who are now accused of murdering her.

Alfa Matrix and the band want to stress that they do not promote this kind of online behaviour nor does the band or the label promote violence via the music of the Canadian based electro dance act Zombie Girl. The band can in no way be held responsible for other people's actions. Sebastian R. Komor: "I want to send my regards to the family and friends of Carly Ryan. May she be in a place where she found peace. I strongly dislike having my music brought up in something as horrible as murder. And have never promoted violence of any kind, whether to humans or animals. Zombie Girl is fictional and just a fun project dealing with the topics of the living dead and all that. To have my music mentioned in a case like this really bothers me. Music is the only thing in the world still making people happy, get together and dance. Rest in peace Carly Ryan, I'm so sorry someone did this to you."

Alfa Matrix and Zombie Girl wish to express their sincere condolances to the family of Carly Ryan.

Destruction honors diseased Evile bassist
2009-10-20
German thrash titans DESTRUCTION will dedicate their set at Damnation Festival in Leeds, UK to EVILE bassist Mike Alexander, who tragically passed away on October 5th, 2009 while on tour in Sweden. The festival will take place at Leeds University Union this Saturday, 24th October. EVILE lead guitarist Ol Drake will make a guest appearance on guitar with DESTRUCTION, to play some of Mike's favourite DESTRUCTION tracks with the band. Ol Drake also recently filled in on guitar for DESTRUCTION at Portugal's Caos Emergente festival.

Ol Drake comments:

"Mike was a huge Destruction fan. It'll be a great way to pay tribute to him by jamming some of his favourite Destruction songs with Schmier, Marc and Mike. Throughout playing with Evile, Mike was always cautiously calm about exciting things. "Mike, we're touring with Megadeth!" - "Oh, cool". "Mike, we're touring with Exodus!" - "Oh, cool". I just knew he jumped around like a child when he got home, but when I called him to say I'm playing a show with Destruction in Portugal he went "OH MY GOD!!!!!!! WHOAAAA, you bastard! Wow!"

"I got to pass on one of Schmier's picks from him to Mike before the last tour and it made his day. Thank you to Destruction for wanting to dedicate their next set to Mike and for letting me jam some songs in his honour."

DESTRUCTION bassist and vocalist Schmier comments:

"Ol Drake became a very close friend to the band since he helped us out after the broken finger affair. When I heard that Mike Alexander died I was speechless and shocked. I had to sit down. The world never was a fair place. This again was a situation that shows how fast everything can be over and out. Mike Alexander was such a positive and funny guy, his band on the way to the top, a fucking shame and a tragedy.

"Evile and Destruction thought it would be a cool thing to dedicate the Destruction gig in Leeds this weekend at the Damnation festival to Mike Alexander. We will jam his fave Destruction tunes with Ol on the second guitar. We are sure Mike would have loved this - a memorable way for us to remember a lost friend! Rock in peace brother!"

DESTRUCTION will play on the Jagermeister stage at 7:30pm this Saturday, 24th October at Damnation festival, Leeds.

Orden Ogan sign with AFM Records
2009-10-15
AFM Records presents a new high-class addition to its roster: ORDEN OGAN. The Melodic/Power/Folk Metal band from Arnsberg, Germany, is one of Europe´s hottest prospects of the last years. ORDEN OGAN have released their first own-pressed CD „Testimonium A.D.“ in 2004, to critical acclaim. Their label debut album „Vale“ then followed in February 2008, with again critics praising the band´s undenieable qualities. Despite all their traditional Metal roots, the band never becomes stereotype, but sounds fresh and up-to-date. Symphonic keyboards melt into grinding guitar riffs, bombastic choirs and orchestral arrangements create an impressive wall of sound.

The new ORDEN OGAN album „Easton Hope“ will be released in early 2010. It will be the band´s first world wide release. In August ORDEN OGAN already uploaded their new video clip „We Are Pirates“, which can we viewed here: www.wearepirates.de . The song was used by Germany´s biggest TV station RTL for several trailers that aired during the station´s Formula 1 broadcast.
More info on the new hopefuls of German Metal can be found here: www.myspace.com/ordenogan

The band comments:

"We always wanted to have a label that really believes in the band and gives 110% for ORDEN OGAN. We're very happy to announce that we signed in with AFM records and are absolutely sure that this is the right decision and the right Partner for ORDEN OGAN.
AFM are one of the leading german metal labels as you can see when you take a look at the roster: Doro, Destruction, UDO and so on...
We're very proud to be part of the family now and are looking forward to our years and releases at AFM. Our new record EASTON HOPE will be released January 2010. Watch out!!!"

Abigail Williams update
2009-10-15
Candlelight Records today confirms two limited edition versions of ABIGAIL WILLIAMS' popular debut album, In the Shadow of a Thousand Suns. Set for release January 12, the special formats will kick off the band’s first tour of 2010, their fifth in support of the album. The deluxe edition will feature a bonus disc containing five previously unavailable tracks plus the band’s video for the song “Into the Ashes.” Limited to 1000 copies, the vinyl pressing has been a request of fans since the album’s late 2008 release.

Discussing the deluxe edition, vocalist/guitarist Sorceron reveals, “the first song, 'I Am (God)' is a new song that signifies the first collaboration between new keyboard player Alana and myself. 'In Death Comes the Great Silence' reveals a new direction that the band has been working towards over the last year while 'Infernal Divide' is another new song that once again redefines that ABIGAIL WILLIAMS sound. This track was recorded quite raw and has a strong black metal influence. 'Waiting for the Rain' is a somber interlude we have been using a bit during live shows and the last track is the demo version of 'Floods.' I felt it was important to include this track because it captures the vibe of the song better than the album track; perhaps due to the work of original drummer Zack Gibson.”

The video for "Into the Ashes" was filmed under the famed London Bridge in late 2008. Sorceron recalls, “we were in this dungeon-like area that they used to store dead bodies in. We felt right at home, minus the smell, of course." The video debuted on Headbangers Ball in early December and saw several plays on the specialty program. MTV called the James Murphy (Testament, Death) produced Into the Shadow of a Thousand Suns “one of the finest black metal albums of 2008.” Check out the video here:

Eluveitie studio update
2009-10-14
Swiss pagan horde ELUVEITIE just finished the recordings for the new album which is scheduled for release in spring 2010! The band also revealed the artwork (please find attached) and album title of their third effort: "Everything Remains".

Currently mainman Chrigel Glanzmann attends the mixing sessions with legendary Colin Richardson and Martyn "Ginge" Ford in Wales.

"Somehow it seems almost unreal to me: The recordings for our upcoming album are finished!

Right now I'm in the Welsh Nott-In Pill studios with Colin Richardson (SLIPKNOT, MACHINE HEAD, KREATOR, BEHEMOTH, BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE & many more) and Martyn "Ginge" Ford working on the mix of the album. And believe me, the mix will be mind-blowing! Well, what can I say... Colin is just a pure genius!

We can look back at two extremely intense months of working our asses off recording the album. It has been an intense, exhausting, but also satisfying time with all of us giving 150% in. Many things developed very spontaneously and songs became very authentic, pure and genuine.

Speaking of the recording I have to mention the amazing job of Tommy Vetterli for sure, who really worked his balls off for the album! Once again he assured his position among the world's best engineers. That's what Colin Richardson stated about his work: "one of the best drum and guitar trackings I've ever heard"!

Furthermore we can already give you a first glimpse of the artwork, which has again been done by famous artist Travis Smith (www.seempieces.com), who already did the cover fro "Spirit".

And also we'd like to reveal the album title: "Everything Remains"

Lyrically the album consists of diverse stories and narrations from ancient Gallia: Historical occurrences and fates of individuals as well as myths and legends bequeathed throughout the centuries. Yet the lyrics pretty much focus the "human" aspects of those historical happenings and also behold them with some questioning and probably also with a slightly bitter-sweet smile, being well aware of the fact that today we simply cannot tell, how things exactly have been back then.

But enough babbled for now - back to some mixing work!

Cheers from Wales,
Chrigel"
