Gothenburg Sweden based metal sextet MARIONETTE has announced that it will hit the road with DEAD BY APRIL on “The SlaughTour 2011”. The trek, which will see both bands premier new material from their respective autumn releases, marks the first time the two pair up for shows in Europe and the UK.

“The SlaughTour 2011” will also be the first tour for new MARIONETTE drummer Jimmie Olausson who will make his live debut with the band on May 27th at Sticky Fingers in Gothenburg.

Earlier this year MARIONETTE completed work on its yet-to-be-titled third album, which was recorded at Studio Fredman with producer Fredrik Nordström (IN FLAMES, DIMMU BORGIR, AT THE GATES), mixed by DEAD BY APRIL songwriter Pontus Hjelm at Studio PH in Gothenburg, and mastered by Erik Broheden (RAMMSTEIN, TURBONEGRO, WITHIN TEMPTATION) at Masters of Audio Studio in Stockholm Sweden. The album features the bands most diverse, “dynamic”, “mature,” and intense material recorded to date according to guitarist and backing vocalist Aron Parmerud.

Napalm Death frontman guests on SSS

British crossover thrashers SSS have revealed that NAPALM DEATH frontman BARNEY GREENWAY will appear as a guest vocalist on the band's forthcoming new album, titled PROBLEMS TO THE ANSWER.

GREENWAY performs guest vocals on the tracks "The Kill Floor", "Here Comes The Neighbourhood" and "Roar". PROBLEMS TO THE ANSWER is due to be released in Europe on June 6th and in North America on July 12th.

NAPALM DEATH frontman BARNEY GREENWAY comments on his guest appearance:

"Foxy really knows his musical onions and when he had some parts for me to do, I knew it was going to be a gas. The main part had a Discharge-y feel to it, so I was sold on that instantly. Went in, shouted, went home. No fucking about. Good stuff."

SSS frontman FOXY comments:

"Barney was on a shortlist of one - it was him or no one. Knew he'd be into the direction of our latest musical outing and the stance the songs take were right up his street. Some serious barking was required and his dulcet tones didn't disappoint."

Shining to release new single

With the long-awaited seventh full-length album out this month on Spinefarm Records, Extreme Metallers SHINING are set to release a CD single which will only be available in their home country of Sweden. The single will comprise two tracks, one being “Förtvivlan, Min Arvedel”, taken from the new album “VII / Född Förlorare”, whilst the second will be a previously un-released cover of the ALICE COOPER song “Prince of Darkness”.

This will be the first time that SHINING has released a single, and founder and front man Niklas Kvarforth is hopeful that the new video, which was filmed recently and is currently being edited, will be included along with the two tracks. “We are trying to get the video included, but the people behind the single are a little nervous, and probably quite rightly so given its subject matter and content. We are looking into the possibility of maybe including a censored version. We’ll see how that pans out, but whatever happens, the uncensored version will definitely appear very soon, so SHINING fans who have been waiting for it, will not be disappointed”.

Following the Swedish release, the band will consider the possibility of releasing a different version of the single elsewhere.

Electric Earth returns

It's a well known fact that Sweden is regarded as one of the leading countries when it comes to hard rock and heavy metal (and all the subgenres). If you, by chance, have missed this Electric Earth will prove that it's true with their third full length album "Touching The Void", which will be released June 20 on their own label TySS Music.

Electric Earth started out in Trollhättan, Sweden in 2001, inspired by both old traditional hard rock bands and more modern bands - like Black Sabbath, KISS, Led Zeppelin, Foo Fighters, Stone Temple Pilots and Soundgarden. Still, they adopted a sound and style of their own. If you like groove, characteristic melodies, skilled musicians and all out rock and want music to be honest and full of life then this band is for you!

The new album is something of a comeback for Electric Earth. After several tough years with a number of personal setbacks, including the tragic death of vocalist Peter Gottlieb's wife in March 2009 (R.I.P.), their passion and love for music made them over come all the difficulties they had gone through. With "Touching The Void" they are back in full force, determined to once again do what they do best - rock hard! Listen to the album and go and see them live as its on stage they take it to a new level.

We are really excited to announce the title of our upcoming album today.
It’s one of the most fun things to come up with when you’re busy working on an album; finding a title that connects all songs to each other.

The title we’ve chosen for our new album is The Quiet Resistance!

Mix
Last week we’ve introduced the team we’ve been working with for the last couple of months to create this album.

We can tell you that Joost is almost done with the mix, so in a few weeks the promotion of the new album will start. We’re really looking forward to share our music with all of you, but we have to be patient a little while longer!

Tour
Our first gig of this year will be on June 5 in ATAK, Enschede (NL). This will be a tryout for us.
We’ll be playing a couple of new songs, so make sure to be there!

Nergal returns to stage with Behemoth

Nergal, iconic frontman for Polish blackened death metallers BEHEMOTH made his comeback to the stage this past weekend on May 6 at Mega Club, Katowice in Poland. Nergal did not enter the stage with his fellow BEHEMOTH colleagues rather than with Carl McCoy & FIELDS OF THE NEPHILIM. This marks Nergals first public appearance since his spinal marrow transplant several months ago.
Commented Nergal: "I just came off stage...Katowice, Poland. It was my first performance after the transplant. I don't remember when the last time I was THAT nervous. First of all, I had to join one of my favorite bands ever, true legends, FIELDS OF THE NEPHILIM... secondly, I'm still not 100% in shape so I didn't know how my body would react. I would risk saying I'm maybe 60% of what I used to be... but still progressing! Anyway, We did a song "Penetration" together with Carl McCoy and Co. What a blast I have to tell you. I had a serious adrenaline rush and it was such a boost of energy I can't even describe. My mouth dried out after 30 seconds so I could hardly breathe but the energy wouldnft let me stop. I was carried away. The moment I saw the crowd, I felt this double bass pounding underneath my feet... I was in trance. I'm counting days 'til we come back with Behemoth full time. 5 months to go...huh."

KorovaKill to release new album

Avant-garde metal pioneers KorovaKill announce a new album for summer 2011. Ten years after their last album „WaterHells“ they return with their most phantastic creation ever. The Austrian weirdos work on their forthcoming release intensively already since 2007. Now the final process of mixing and mastering has started.

Classic Death album to be reissued

DEATH’s legendary fourth album Human will mark its 20th anniversary with an official re-issue on June 21st in North America (June 27th internationally) via Relapse Records. Human has been entirely re-mixed by longtime DEATH producer Jim Morris and re-mastered by Alan Douches (MASTODON, CONVERGE, THE MISFITS). This special 20th anniversary edition of the album will come complete with expanded packaging featuring liner notes from Morris as well as former DEATH / current CYNIC guitarist Paul Masvidal and over an hour of newly unearthed, previously unreleased early demo tracks. Human will be available on 2- and 3- disc sets as well as digitally.

The Acacia Strain announce double live album

Metal mammoths, THE ACACIA STRAIN have announced they will be releasing their first live album on June 21st, via PROSTHETIC RECORDS. "The Most Known Unknown," is a double disc set, limited to 5000 copies, and coming out just in time for the band's first run on the long-running Van's Warped Tour. The music on the album comes from two shows, one in Worcester, MA and one in Holyoke, MA, which were both documented on 2009's "The Most Known Unknown," DVD. The unique digipack features a pop-out "thumbs up".

GLORIOR BELLI swamped out from the temperamental suburbs of Paris in December 2002. What started as a notorious duo soon became a remarkable beast, acting as a beacon for everyone looking to free themselves of the influence of the Demiurge.

A symbolic demo - Evil Archaic Order - was released in June 2004, followed by their first full-length album Ô Lavdate Dominvs in May 2005. Their sophomore album Manifesting the Raging Beast was released in June 2007 via Southern Lord Records and their latest offering Meet Us At The Southern Sign reached the surface in June 2009 via Candlelight Records.

Lyrics and themes explored over the years reveal a sincere inclination for rebel-ism and developed sense of poetry, an intriguing and almost hypnotic journey through dark deserts and evil fields with Lucifer as personal guide.

At this point the French band has garnered a stellar reputation in the extreme music community for mixing Desert-Rock textures with the brutal, ominous, doom-laden vibe typical of Black Metal. But don’t bother trying to restrain that which cannot be confined, for this is merely the greatest curse of the cosmic scheme.

GLORIOR BELLI have now inked a worldwide deal with Metal Blade Records in anticipation of their upcoming album The Great Southern Darkness, due to be released in the fall of this year.

Deceased make triumphant return

The long-running metal maestros DECEASED have kept the faith since 1985, summoning a slew of cult releases and building up an immensely dedicated fanbase that has followed the band merrily into hell and back. Now, at the dawn of 2011, King Fowley and his band of 'bangers have returned with Surreal Overdose, their first full-length of all-new material since 2005's As The Weird Travel On. Armed with a May 13th release date, the album will be unleashed by the Northeast's gnarliest, PATAC Records. Ringleader King Fowley triumphantly returned to the drum kit for this recording, handling both drums and vocals. The band also welcomed in longtime live member Shane Fuegel on guitar (replacing long time band member Mark Adams who retired from music in 2007), while Mike Smith continued on studio guitar alongside longtime bassist Les Snyder.

The new record was recorded at Assembly Line Studios in Virginia with Kevin Gutierrez engineering and King Fowley producing. The CD will be handled in the states by the band's own label, Shrieks from the Hearse Records, alongside PATAC Records. Hell's Headbangers will handle the vinyl edition.

Final Breath prepare for new album

It's been 7 years that the last FINAL BREATH studio album „Let Me Be Your Tank“ was ready to come into the metal world. That long time of waiting has to be compensated of course. For that reason we are working hard on a follow-up album.

After a (too) long break we spent much time for writing new songs as well as we checked many options to find a new way for our recordings. The current way seems to be very promising, we'll provide some more details at a later date....

For the moment we finished drum recordings for 10 completely new tracks. Now that tracks are exitedly waiting for the guitars, bass and finally the vocals. Be prepared!

Fleshgod Apocalypse sign with Nuclear Blast

Italy's brutal/symphonic horde, FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE, have signed a worldwide deal with Nuclear Blast Records! With only two releases, Oracles (2009) and the Mafia EP (2010), FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE have already become one of the most talked about bands in the underground. Their unique blend of technical death metal with a symphonic elements have quickly made them a favorite with fans and critics alike. Now, after a successful US debut touring alongside SUFFOCATION and THE FACELESS, the band are currently wrapping up work on their upcoming second full-length album. Ulver cofirmed for Damnation Festival

AVANT-GARDE Norwegians ULVER will play their first and only UK show outside London when they headline the Terrorizer Stage at Damnation Festival. The experimental collective will top the bill in an exclusive performance where they will showcase material from their latest 'War of the Roses' offering.

Joining them will be the black jazz of their countrymen SHINING and London's doom tinged instrumental four piece ASTROHENGE at Leeds Union University on Bonfire Night, Saturday, November 5.

The three genre-morphing acts add to the already stellar lineup of Decapitated, Doom, Amplifier and Dragged Into Sunlight at the seventh edition of the UK's finest metal event, with headliners and many more bands yet to be announced across at least three stages.

Festival director Gavin McInally, said: "We're generally excited about the bands we confirm, but the capture of Ulver for an exclusive show - and their first in the UK outside the London - is a bit special.

"The unique black jazz of Shining and experimental slabs of metal of Astrohenge are also fitting examples of what Damnation Festival is all about - offering fans something a bit different to well worn line-ups hosted across the country.

"We're throwing everything we have at making this line-up our best yet and with the continued support of the fans, Damnation Festival 2011, will be another blinding chapter not to be missed."

Serpent Cult sign with Listenable

SERPENT CULT was born in the summer of 2006 by Frédéric Caure, Steven Van Cauwenbergh and Frederik 'Cozy' Cosemans in a classic power-trio setup.

Few months later, Michelle Nocon joined the ranks on vocals, and soon the first EP 'Trident Nor Fire' was recorded and released. The first European live appearances started in 2007, soon followed by concerts all over Europe.

This eventually lead to signing a record deal with London based Rise Above Records in 2008, and just months later, the debut fullength 'Weight Of Light' was released.

Following the success of the first album, SERPENT CULT soon started touring Europe again, and in the summer of 2009 the band also did a two week trek throughout North America (USA and Canada).

Early 2010 was marked by the departure from vocalist Michelle Nocon. The band decided to continue as a three-piece, and to explore their boundaries even further. That summer, SerpentCult also recorded their second album 'Raised By Wolves', together with the help of some close friends/musicians.

'Raised By Wolves' will be released in the summer of 2011 on the French label Listenable Records.

After spending 14 years in Cradle Of Filth as a backing singer, she also spent 6 years in Therion and Mortiis. Sarah has sung on over 35 albums with bands including The Kovenant , The Gathering, Mystic Circle, Trigger The Bloodshed and many others. In 2005, joined forces with Chris Rehn and created Angtoria and received an amazing response in Europe.

Pzy Clone truly was the icing on the cake for this album. Pulverised Records is proud to welcome Swedish death metal fiends SKINEATER to their ever-expanding roster of brutality.

Formed in late 2008, SKINEATER features scene veterans Håkan Stuvemark (ex-Wombbath, ex-In Thy Dreams), Stefan Westerberg (ex-Carnal Forge, ex-In Thy Dreams etc.), Thomas Ohlsson (Apostasy, ex-The Project Hate MCMXCIX) and Jörgen Ström (The Mary Major).

Commented Stuvemark of the signing: "All we've heard about [Pulverised] -- and through our own experience during negotiating with the label -- has been good! Now we can aim to record the debut album. The recording will take place this summer and with this excellent lineup, we are ready to cause some damage, so keep yer eyes and ears open!"

Earth Crisis complete new album

EARTH CRISIS is one of the most talked about bands in the history of hardcore music. Their music has become the soundtrack to a movement of kids searching for an alternative lifestyle and has landed the band on the covers of magazines and even on national news networks to talk about their music and motives. Without a doubt, EARTH CRISIS is one of the single most influential bands in hardcore and they have now completed work on their latest effort - their 7th overall - which will be titled “Neutralize the Threat” and is scheduled for release on July 4th in Europe and July 12th in the USA via Century Media Records.
