New Edguy album out in November
2008-06-28
As previously reported a few weeks ago EDGUY have entered the Gate Studios in Wolfsburg to record the follow-up of their chart breaker album "Rocket Ride". The new album will be produced by Sascha Paeth and is scheduled to be released in November 2008. The album will be entitled "Tinnitus Sanctus" and Tobias Sammet has got the following news in store: "The title just refers to the wall of sound that will bulldoze you. Let’s be modest: We have ten extraordinary songs and this new album is gonna be our ticket to the hall of fame alongside with LED ZEPPELIN, BLACK SABBATH and AC/DC. There won’t be a hit-single this time, not even a flop-single, haha; not only because most songs are too long for a single, but also because for a single we had to produce way more stuff, lose money and need a time frame to release it. The album would come later then and that would suck. For the record: Musically, we don’t go back to the roots. It’s not the "Legacy of Mandrake part 2" and it’s not a little brother of Rocket Ride either. It’s a new album and we’ve set off to new horizons once more! The stuff sounds really broad, very anthemic, heavy and ballsy. We’ve kept our trademarks and still there are a lot of elements that are different to anything we’ve done before. I know what some fans may think, because if my favourite bands would have come up with statements like that I would have been scared to death, but in our case I am sure this could be the album we’ll be measured by in the future."

2008-06-28
New York, NY – On July 1, Slipknot, the Grammy Award winning, multi-platinum nine man hard rock enigma, will unveil its new imagery in an exclusive partnership with AOL Music, the web’s most trafficked online music destination*. This highly anticipated debut kicks-starts the launch of Slipknot’s new album, All Hope Is Gone, which is set for release on Roadrunner Records on August 26th. Masks are an integral part of the band’s identity and to reflect this point, AOL Music’s Spinner.com will host a retrospective photo gallery of Slipknot masks throughout their career, spanning all three previous albums and including the most recent controversial “Purgatory Masks.” The Slipknot mask unveiling will be featured on the main page of Spinner.com worldwide for 24 hours.

Slipknot is a groundbreaking nine-piece machine born out of Des Moines, IA. The band has sold over 10 million albums worldwide. Their last studio album VOL. 3: (THE SUBLIMINAL VERSES) was released in May 2004, debuted at #2 on the Billboard Top 200 Chart, selling over 240,000 copies its first week and 1.5 million copies in the U.S. to date. The album broke new ground for the band and spawned the hit singles “Duality,” “Vermilion” and “Before I Forget.” In November 2005 the band released SLIPKNOT 9.0: LIVE, a gold-certified double live album. December 2006 saw the release of the DVD Voliminal: Inside the 9. Certified platinum, it is a vivid, brutally honest glimpse of the world inside the band.

Apiary becomes Early Graves
2008-06-28
Northern California’s Apiary have changed their name to EARLY GRAVES and will be releasing a brand new album titled We: The Guillotine via Ironclad Recordings on August 19th, 2008. Make sure to head over to the band’s new MySpace page to check out two new tracks off the band’s upcoming release and tour dates currently scheduled.

Here’s what guitarist and founding member Chris Brock had to say about the name change:

"We changed the name from Apiary to Early Graves for a pretty simple reason. The songs we had created on the road under the former name had nothing to do with the original Apiary and we needed a new name that was a better fit, and more relevant to who we are. We wanted a name that meant burning your wick at both ends. It also didn’t hurt that there was not original members left and we didn’t want to be that band."

Chris’ comments on the upcoming CD We: The Guillotine:

"Our new record is called We: The Guillotine and is nothing like the former banner and their album. It was recorded in Nashville with Steve Austin (Converge/Lamb of God/Deadguy) and is dirty and punk and is metal and is a testament to who we are as people. It’s fast like the Millennium Falcon, aggressive like a pack of hyenas, and hopes to never be compared to this stupid fucking fake death and thrash movement going on right. It has guest appearances on vocals and guitar by Steve Austin on Last Name: Porter and Here There Be Monsters and another vocal appearance by Eugene Robinson of Oxbow on Here There Be Monsters and their parts are haunting. The album is ferocious."

"We just wanted to create our version of an early punk record. Like how it was when we were kids first getting into punk, metal and hardcore. No frills. No gloss. No bullshit. We had no interest whatsoever in creating fake ass death metal breakdowns or tired arpeggio sweeps or whatever stupid ass bands think the "IN" thing is these days" comments vocalist Makh Daniels

Chris’ comments on what fans should expect:

"We: The Guillotine sounds like a crash course in burning out to me. Expect an all out war on your ears for 40 minutes without brees, breakdown after breakdown or Yngwie wannabe guitar playing. You can expect music from the heart."

Track list:
1. Ballistics
2. Safety Net Acrobats
3. House N#gger
4. First Name: William
5. Rest
6. Last Name: Porter (Featuring Steve Austin)
7. The Man In Black Fled Across The Desert
8. Ghosts Among Us
9. Borrowed Teeth, Borrowed Claws
10. Here There Be Monsters (featuring Steve Austin and Eugene Robinson)
11. City Of Angels of Nothing at All

EARLY GRAVES is:
Makh Daniels: Vocals
Chris Brock: Guitars
Tyler Jensen: Bass
Dan Sneddon: Drums

The record is entitled "The Campaign" and will be 8 new songs, to clock in at just over 40 minutes. At this point I am entirely done recording drums, and Kit is just about to start guitars. We should be done by around July 6th, so check the site for new tunes. Yeah we've been saying that for a while, but this time it ain't no joke. AMON AMARTH will be reconquering the past by the end of 2008 and play their entire first four albums on four nights in a row in the Zeche in Bochum, Germany.

28.12.2008 ONCE SENT FROM THE GOLDEN HALL
29.12.2008 THE AVENGER
30.12.2008 THE CRUSHER
31.12.2008 VERSUS THE WORLD

Apart from playing the four albums in their entirety each night there will be a best of mix from "Fate Of Norns", "With Oden On Our Side" and of course the new upcoming album!

Additionally all attending fans will have the chance for a meet and greet with the band, to obtain special merchandise sold at each show and to celebrate a big New Years Eve Party on the 31st of December!

”We've had plans of doing a smaller club show tour for quite some time now where we'd mainly play older songs, but that has been very hard to pull off. So when this idea was brought to us of re-visiting the 4 first full length albums at Bochum in Germany we were all up for it. This will be a once in a life time chance for us to play and our fans to experience all the old songs that we don´t have room for in the setlist anymore, but are still too good to not play! Of course we'll also play songs from the new upcoming album, as well as "With Oden On Our Side" and "Fate Of Norns". Since these shows will be unique we thought we?'d might as well record the shows too! We're thrilled over this event and look forward to the shows. It will be some hard work and preparation playing around 50 -60 different songs in 4 days. Some songs we haven't played for a very, very long time and some we've never played live at all. But challenges are something that encourages us! See you all there!”

Nervecell sign management deal
2008-06-27
Center Stage Management (CSM) have signed a management deal with metal band Nervecell, in Dubai (UAE), on Wednesday 25th of June 2008. After appearing in (and even headlining) many music festivals around the world, growing their fanbase and releasing their 3rd album, Nervecell is a “ true asset”, explains Lara Teperdjian, Executive Vice President of CSM.

CSM is widely known for organizing music festivals as such as Dubai Desert Rock Festival, Desert Rhythm, Urban Desert and their new Back 2 School for kids under 18. However, as the 9-year-old entertainment company’s name indicates, they also have a foot in music management.

Nervecell is now their second management deal after rock band Juliana Down, also from the UAE. “We strongly believe in our bands’ potentials, and not only do we offer them a platform to showcase their talent at our events, but we also encourage them to tour outside the country and manage them. We are proud to have joined the Nervecell team and we will push them beyond their boundaries” explains Lara Teperdjian, Executive Vice-President of CSM.

German comedian to perform at Magic Circle
2008-06-27
The latest attraction for this year’s Magic Circle Festival in Bad Arolsen has been announced: Konrad Stöckel, the famous German “trash” comedian and chaos magician will be performing at the Magic Circle Festival between artists’ sets and will wreak some comedy havoc upon the fans with his numerous arts of conjuring and spectacular showmanship.

Konrad became known through his countless TV appearances in shows such as Nightwash, Comedy Hot Shot, NDR Talkshow, the Quatsch Comedy Club and many more. His “firecracker up the ass” routine became a recent TV hit and his “nail-in-nose” effect and the eating of lightbulbs and stones are classic tricks.

For the Magic Circle Festival, Konrad intends to bring a new performance that no German stage has seen before. “I am totally amazed to be able to perform at the Magic Circle Festival. Finally, my act won’t be censored like it is on TV. There will be bloodshed! I have been preparing for weeks already and it’s a great honor for me to perform on the same stage as MANOWAR.”

The second annual Magic Circle Festival – hosted by the Hessian town of Bad Arolsen - features the best line up of the festival season. Headlined by two spectacular performances by the Kings of Metal, MANOWAR (11th and 12th of July), the festival will also feature legends like Whitesnake, Def Leppard, Gotthard, Doro, WASP, Michael Schenker Group, Brazen Abbot (feat. Joe Lynn Turner) and HolyHell.

Thursday night (July 10th) will be highlighted by performances by Ted Nugent and shock rocker Alice Cooper.

Soulseller Records announce new signings
2008-06-27
Soulseller Records is proud to announce the signing of four new acts:

Thornium (SWE)
Alverg (NOR)
Maim (SWE)
Stench (SWE)

Thornium
We guess we can call this a legendary act in the black metal scene, having only released one album in 1995 (“Dominions of the eclipse”) and a demo it is about time this Swedish hellcult comes forth with a new recording. Thornium has signed to Soulseller Records for 3 albums. The working title for the first of these is “Mushroom clouds and dusk”. Hell is unleashed!

www.thornium.com
www.myspace.com/thetruethornium

Alverg
A Norwegian black metal band, created in 2002. The only release they did so far was a demo in 2003. A real masterpiece we dare to tell you! This demo got the attention from some labels, amongst others the now defunct Karmageddon Media. Due to circumstances the band has been quiet for some years, but has come out of the woods now to release their first of a 3-album deal, entitled “Elde”.

www.alverg.com

Maim
A rather young death metal band from Sweden. But a killer one!! With the tragic death of Swedish death metal masters Repugnant it is with great pleasure we can still enjoy total death metal with Maim. Anyone into Repugnant will definitely enjoy the carnal feasts spewed forth by Maim!

www.myspace.com/maimdeathmetal

Stench
New in the metalworld, bringing you death metal from the old school. The name says it all. Before releasing any fullength album Stench will bring you an appetizer in the form of a 7”ep. Death.Darkness.Stench.

Cynic finishing new album
2008-06-27
Technical/progressive metal legends CYNIC are putting the finishing touches on their upcoming album, to be released later this year via Season of Mist Records. Returning from the "Focus"-era are founding members Paul Masvidal (guitars/clean vocals) and Sean Reinert (drums) along with Sean Malone (bass), and joining the band in the studio is newcomer Tymon Kruidenier (guitars/growls). The band are currently doing the final stages of mixing with producer Warren Riker, and the band are extremely happy with the results.

In addition, the band have announced their first upcoming live dates in Europe, with additional dates/touring to be announced in the near future (including US dates). The band have also been announced as the headliner for this year's ProgPower Europe festival, and will be playing a special extended set at the show.

Guitarist/vocalist Paul Masvidal had this to say:
"Sean and I are pleased to announce the completion of album #2. We've been on an amazing journey discovering this new music and soon it will be yours. Expect the unexpected. The album is an intensely concentrated mosaic of internal and external energies, from the deepest peace to the purest aggression. There's an acquired taste that comes with a record of this density, but once your ears wrap themselves around the language at work, everything falls into place and suddenly you'll feel a sudden urge to sing, scream or maybe even cry. The album has a beginning, middle and end. The story will reveal itself after numerous listens and then you may not want to let go. Besides Reinert and I, Tymon brought some new life force and magic to the record with fierce growling and poetic guitar sensibilities. Malone also did a fine job with the low end, grooving away with Reinert in a pocket land from hell!
For the live department, due to Malone's other commitments, we're pleased to welcome Robin Zielhorst into the fold on bass along with Tymon growling and ripping it up on another glorious Steinberger! Robin's a phenomenal Dutch talent pulled from Tymon's brain into the madness of Cynic's musical melange. The band is now a fiery breathing entity, full of magic dust, ready to appear at your doorstep this summer. Please join us at an upcoming concert."

Season Of Mist
Season Of Mist announce new US signings
2008-06-27
Season of Mist hands the world two more solid reasons to either idolize or despise the US. Aligning with powerful new audio assassins, the independent label sees to it that the south rises and reigns over the hard rock / heavy metal plains. These bands of brothers take shape in two forms; the elder, bitter and rejuvenated lifers with nothing left to lose and the young, heavy, hungry southern sons of the mountain's music and moonshine.

THE SIGN OF THE SOUTHERN CROSS

With devastating demos under their sleeves and college degrees finally out of the way and on their wall, this mountain metal quartet is poised and ready to take southern culture and its heavy heritage to the masses. Seeping with infectious riffs, soulful vocals and all-around stump stomping songs, the band's debut, "Of Mountains and Moonshine", will surely lead them to headlining status at summer festivals, commercial radio specialty shows and keg party smoke circles across the country and the world.

The band comments on this new alignment:
"We're beyond excited to begin a long lasting and fruitful partnership with Season of Mist! It's a deep mark of pride to become part of a family which has brought along so many influential artists. Steeped in moonshine and almighty riffs, THE SIGN OF THE SOUTHERN CROSS' music breathes oil into your lungs while it elevates you up the Smokey Appalachia Mountains. As southern boys, we take pride in our past as we trudge on and strive to make our mark in the modern world. This effort is now strengthened by the hand of this heavy record label. We welcome all with the open arms of southern hospitality to this loud- ass, gut-bucket of American heavy metal!"

THE SIGN OF THE SOUTHERN CROSS "Of Mountains and Moonshine" is due out in October 2008. Look for the band on tour late summer, early autumn. Check www.myspace.com/southerncrossband for more information.

OUTLAW ORDER

In May 2008, the US offices of Season of Mist were nearly destroyed due to a deluge of water damage and the resulting attack of black toxic mold. Can this be a direct result of the volume voodoo unleashed by the signing of a certain southern, outlaw organization?

Yeah, sure N'awlins is located in the southern United States but doesn't mean it belongs to it. It is no longer part of the so-called, stereo-typical southern region. They have finally seceded. NOLA is now its own soveriegn nation, leading the rest of the country & even the world in a revolution of extreme music that is unparalleled. Due to the subsequent destruction of the fair hedonistic city by a bitch named Katrina, they have been freed from their restraints to begin a new crime wave in the form of OUTLAW ORDER, the Zero / Zero percent. This group of restless reprobates cultivated under the scrutiny and beat-downs of an oppressive redneck authority. Being well placed members of local New Orleans conspiracists EYEHATEGOD, SOILENT GREEN and HAWGJAW, these gentlemen have united under one negative war banner to blast the system with a twist to the N'awlins sound of rebellion and pollution. A fully realized organization, these null percenters follow no one. They do however wear the Louisiana influence on their black armbanded sleeves and shine a stolen police flashlight into the darkened rooms inhabited by law enforcement cockroaches. This is truly a new seperatist set of rules. Combining their militant safecracking skills with leading sonic boom specialists Season of Mist, the debut record, "Dragging down the Enforcer" is set to explode this Autumn.

Band members and their other illegal affiliations:

* Michael D. Williams (EYEHATEGOD, ARSON ANTHEM) - vocals
* Brian Patton (EYHATEGOD, SOILENT GREEN) - guitar
* Gary Mader (EYEHATEGOD, HAWGJAW) - guitar
* Joey LaCaze (EYEHATEGOD) - drums
* Justin Grisoli (ex-EYEHATEGOD) - bass

OUTLAW ORDER "Dragging down the Enforcer" is due out in October 2008 with a simultaneous road attack. This is your final warning. Check www.myspace.com/outlaworder for more information.

Himsa announce final show
2008-06-26
The Seattle-based metal quintet HIMSA created a ferocious blend of melodic thrash mixed with old-school influences which resulted in a savage, unique and uncompromising sound. Now the band has announced that they plan to hang up their boots and ride off into the sunset…. But not before one more massive party!

The band has announced that they planned one final stand in their hometown. Himsa will step into the club that they have called home since their beginnings, Seattle’s El Corazon, on August 16th to pay tribute to the fans that made them who they became.

Derek Harn (bass) further comments: “After 10+ years, four releases, countless tours and almost incomprehensible (yet constant) upheaval, the last three years of the band have been relatively stable. Having sacrificed everything we had in order to ensure the band's survival it's time to let it go. We made a great CD (Summon in Thunder/Century Media); reportedly, our best. We've got a great label. We're getting along, we've toured and we’re fine. It's all good. We're leaving it at that.

“A relatively unremarkable closing to HIMSA's gi-normously dramatic career, there appears to be no acrimony or unpleasantness, simply the end of a blistering, phenomenal, tumultuous era of the metal that HIMSA permeated into the modern musical landscape. References have been made to the band's evolving difficulties with the relentless touring schedules that have been the hallmark of Himsa's career. If we can't tour, and our reality is we can't tour as we have in the past, then it's not Himsa. Better to hang it up than fade away.”

Veni, Vidi, Vici.

S.W.W.A.A.T.S. is now at the point where we will need full-time soldiers with no other commitments. Our touring schedule is going to be brutal, and we needed 100% of everyone's time. Carcass comment on US reunion shows
2008-06-26
As recently leaked, UK Death/Grind/Melo-death metal legends, CARCASS, will be performing at the Nokia Theatre in New York City on September 6, 2008. The show will also include 3 soon to be announced special guests in addition to NECROPHAGIST and ABORTED. Always a cut up and never afraid not to mince his words, vocalist/bassist Jeff Walker commented on what will be the first of many more U.S. performances:

“Well we waited and waited (just to make you sweat), but it doesn't look like Bush and Blair's phony war has any end in sight. The dollar ain't gonna get any stronger, gas ain't gonna get any cheaper, so it's now or never! I guess you ex-colonists need cheering up and the only thing we can think of is some old school grind and death metal (laughs)! Joking aside, we KNOW damn well we HAVE to play the U.S. if only to either shut you all up or completely disappoint you and shatter your illusions about this band! Either way it's gonna be a 'blast' as you say out there. We're looking to recreate the road trip of the Summer of '90 with DEATH which was one of the best times of our lives (Christ I sound old)! To quote Herchell Gordon Lewis as on Necroticism ‘PREPARE TO DIE’!”

Tickets go on sale on Friday, July 11 at Noon (http://www.nokiatheatrenyc.com/showdetail.php?id=5965).

More U.S. shows will be announced shortly.

In February of 1999, CARCASS drummer Ken Owen suffered a near-fatal brain hemorrhage, leaving him in a coma for over 10 months. As a result, he is not taking part in CARCASS' current reunion run (ARCH ENEMY skinsman Daniel Erlandsson is filling in), but will reportedly be traveling with the band whenever possible and making brief appearances at select shows.

CARCASS' reunion lineup:
Bill Steer (FIREBIRD) - Vocals, Guitar
Jeff Walker (BRUJERIA) - Vocals, Bass
Michael Amott (ARCH ENEMY) - Guitar
Daniel Erlandsson (ARCH ENEMY) - Drums

Kunvuk part with drummer

Australian-based technical groove metal band Kunvuk has parted ways with drummer Felipe Cordoba and is currently seeking a replacement.

“It is with great sadness that we announce the departure of Felipe Cordoba from Kunvuk. He was unable to continue in the band due to his family commitments and his desire to follow a career in film. We wish him all the best for the future.
So now we need a new drummer! All applicants can contact us via our website (www.kunvuk.com) or through our myspace page (www.myspace.com/kunvuk). We will be holding rehearsals soon and relish the challenge of bringing you a larger, uglier and more insane version of Kunvuk in the coming months. Stay focused.”

Kunvuk have recently been announced to perform at this year’s Sydney Dime Show which is held each year to celebrate the late great metal guitarist Dimebag Darrell who was tragically killed on stage in 2004. For more information visit www.kunvuk.com and http://www.myspace.com/sydneydimeshow
