Ghost Brigade working on new album
2011-04-17
Finland's new heroes GHOST BRIGADE are hard at work on their upcoming third album, which is nearly completed! The band issued the following statement:

"Fuck webisodes, studio blogs and soulless press statements. We have made a new record and it's called 'Until Fear No Longer Defines Us'. Expect a late summer release on Season of Mist."

More news on "Until Fear No Longer Defines Us" soon.

Fair To Midland sign with Season of Mist
2011-04-17
Season of Mist just inked a European deal with Texan lunatics FAIR TO MIDLAND! The whole label staff is thrilled to welcome one of the most daring and original bands of the 21st century to the roster.

"We are filled with excitement to be working with Season of Mist", singer Darroh Sudderth comments. "We're genuinely proud of this new record and believe our European listeners/friends are in for a pleasant surprise. We are antsy as hell to get back overseas!"

FAIR TO MIDLAND's new full-length is entitled "Arrows and Anchors" and will be released in the early summer. "We are a band that makes albums and this is the best one that we've ever made. It might be the heaviest non-metal album you will hear this year", adds Darroh. The follow-up to the highly acclaimed "Fables from a Mayfly: What I Tell You Three Times Is True" has been produced by Joe Barresi (TOOL, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE, COHEED AND CAMBRIA).

Founded in 1998 in the quiet farm town of Sulphur Springs, Texas, FAIR TO MIDLAND quickly became one of the Lone Star State's fastest-rising bands, earning critical acclaim for their first two independent releases, 2001's "The Carbon Copy Silver Lining" and the 2004 "inter.funda.stifle". Since the release of "Fables From a Mayfly" in 2007, they have shared the stage with bands such as the Smashing Pumpkins, Flyleaf, Chevelle, Dir en Grey, Alice In Chains and Serj Tankian throughout the U.S. & Europe. The band has made appearances at festivals such as Coachella, Bamboozle, Download Festival, Rock AM Ring and Rock IM Park.

Lower Than Atlantis to release new album
2011-04-16
Nevermind the bollocks as one of the UK's most talked about bands, LOWER THAN ATLANTIS, is currently spreading their gritty, pissed off and unhinged punk rock assault to the unsuspecting masses on the “Reckless and Relentless” tour with Asking Alexandria and many others. Their latest album, Far Q, covered the whole spectrum of issues facing the youth of the UK right now such as unemployment, booze, debt, drugs and the uncertainty of growing up while spewing out with unabashed musical ferocity and venom unlike anything heard before. This is simply a blue-collar band that speaks to the people and they connected with the youth of their country unlike any bands previously could.

Their much anticipated new album, World Record, is set for an April 19th release and the band recently partnered with AOL Noisecreep to exclusively debut the new track, “Up In Smoke”.

Asking Alexandria hit Billboard
2011-04-16
Amidst a slew of recent speculation regarding their stability, the UK sensation, ASKING ALEXANDRIA, have just undoubtedly proved to all naysayers that they are one of the genre's most exciting, ground-breaking and heralded artists as their critically acclaimed new album, Reckless and Relentless, debuted at #9 on the Billboard Top 200 charts scanning an impressive 31,449 units. This is a monumental accomplishment for the band as this debut also simultaneously marks the biggest first week sales for any artist in the history of Hot Topic and Sumerian Records. This is controversial, unapologetic hard rock at its very finest.

Saltatio Mortis hit the charts
2011-04-15
Saltatio Mortis' "10 Jahre Wild und Frei" stormed the German LP and DVD charts, making it to numbers 21 and 2 respectively! A big "thank you" goes out to all supporters and fellow gleemen!

Rhapsody of Fire announce new guitarist
2011-04-15
Tom Hess, the guitar virtuoso well known worldwide for his unique guitar skills and for being the creator of the famous online guitar courses, is now officially a new member of Rhapsody Of Fire!

He recorded most of the rhythmic parts of the new upcoming album “From Chaos To Eternity” (out on June, 17th) and also two guitar solos!

Alex says: “I saw Tom Hess playing on stage several times and always got impressed by his great stage presence and his way of playing. When I have heard the rhythmic and the solo guitars he recorded for Rhapsody Of Fire I was blown away, I could feel that strong presence in between every single note”.

Luca adds: “I know Tom since many years. He is a great person, a good friend of mine and I am not surprised of the success he’s having teaching his guitar techniques all around the world. I am really proud to have built a strong partnership with him and I will always thank him for the support he gave me when I decided to create my Neoclassical Revelation Guitar Course. Therefore I am really honored to present Tom to all the fans of Rhapsody Of Fire as I am sure he will be the one who, through his artistic talent and unique skills, will make the difference in this band for the years to come!”

And now a true gift from Rhapsody Of Fire to all their fans around the world.

Communic album details revealed
2011-04-15
The Norwegian metalers from COMMUNIC are back with their new album “The Bottom Deep” which is simply breath-taking! The music of the exceptional band from Norway includes many elements from various metal genres. Their grasp for variety of power, melody, and intelligent lyrics with a highly progressive musical approach made COMMUNIC one of the best newcomers for years! If you like progressiv metal, there is no way without COMMUNIC!!

Now, the band announced the tracklist and the artwork of the upcoming album:

01. Facing Tomorrow
02. Denial
03. Flood River Blood
04. Voyage Of Discovery
05. In Silence With My Scars
06. My Fallen
07. Destroyer Of Bloodlines
08. Wayward Soul
09. The Bottom Deep
10. Bonus Track: In Union We Stand

Guitarist and band mastermind Oddleif Stensland commented the new stuff:

“Writing and recording this album has been an amazing - but strange experience. This time we took control over the production ourself, resulting in a more honest and organic sounding album. Never before have I put so much of my own personal influence and privacy into the lyrics and songs as this time. Right now I have a mixed feeling of fear and total excitement as we release the artwork and track listing for this new album. Now there is no return. To open myself this way, exposing my deepest and inner thoughts, in a way I have never done before. Its kinda strange, as it feels like these words and songs came from a part of me that I didn't know about. This is “The Bottom Deep”. This is the album that I never in my life thought I had to write – but now I know, this will be a totem in my life – forever!”

Dan Swanö did the mastering on this album, he said:

"It was pure pleasure to work with these guys. The mix was excellent to start with, so I finally had the opportunity to work with gentle strokes rather than the big roller that I sometimes have to use to shape-up not-so-good mixes. Musically I enjoyed it very much. It's not easy to label their music (which is good). If I had to mention something, I get that amazing "epic" vibe of Queensryche 84-88. They definitely add something to the family of progressive metal"

Eliran Kantor made the artwork for the album:

"The first draft of the lyrics from Oddleif made it clear that this is going to be a very personal, dark and vulnerable record - and I wanted the cover to reflect that. The vulture, nature's version of the grim reaper, caresses the dying man, casting a shadow reveling its true intentions and reason for this last visit. I put alot of myself into this artwork, and I think it turned out great"

„The Bottom Deep“ will be released July 22, 2011!

Edguy recording new album
2011-04-15
After a successful world tour with more than 100 concerts all over the globe in support of their latest release "Tinnitus Sanctus" in 2008, Edguy have entered the studio to record a new album. Still under the influence of their arena tour as special guests of "the Scorpions" and the latest "Avantasia" world tour (featuring Tobias Sammet and Felix Bohnke), Edguy feel it's about time to squeeze their energy on tape in a recording studio again. This time the band has chosen the famous Peppermint-Park in Hannover (Scorpions, Phil Collins), according to the band " a recording temple with a tremendously great sounding room". Tobias comments:

"We have chosen the Peppermint Park to record the basics there. I had done a few little bits and pieces for Avantasia there, but it's so great to record drums and stuff like Hammond B3 with a big bad fat mean Leslie there. The room is big and the sound is mean! We were always striving for a powerful but natural sound. I guess we had a good sound recently, but I think there is always room to improve. The more I listen to what's going on in the Heavy Metal world these days, the more I long for drums that sound like drums. I want them to sound powerful without sounding like Atari. Sascha and I came to the conclusion that we have to start from scratch and do things the way they have to be done, not the fashionable way. I don't want a distorted master-copy, just so it is loud enough on an iPhone or on PC-speakers. If you talk to your most fancy producer he will say something like: "Well, it's the sign of the times, you have to be able to compete in the loudness war..." What the fuck?! If I want it to be loud I turn up the stereo. I want dynamics, room, a real big sound, not that distorted trendy compression. Why don't we all move back a little and record great sounding music, not loud sounding music? Do a Google search for "loudness war" and you'll see what I mean. Whatever, the new songs sound great, we have thirteen of them, and we'll pick maybe ten and put them on the album. We have anthemic melodies, although it's not kitsch. When you record anthemic music, you tend to be dangerously close to kitsch, it's a fine line and I think we balance on that fine line pretty well. To cut a long story a little insignificantly shorter: I just think it is great, and that's what counts. Real music, you know? We'll keep you informed, if you want it or not! ;-)“

Manowar issue statement
2011-04-15
We all want to express our sincere thanks to everyone the world over for their overwhelming support. Your many kind words, thoughts and prayers have provided great strength and comfort in these dark hours. We have lost a great soul, a wonderful father, a dear brother and friend. Scott's memory will live on forever in all of us.

Scott, you will forever be missed, but never forgotten.

Joey, Eric, Karl, and Donnie, and your Magic Circle Family, your loving children Teresa, Scotty, Anthony and Corey, Kim, Victoria, Kathy and all the rest of your loving family.

Twisted Tower Dire complete new album
2011-04-15
Virginia-based classic metal outfit TWISTED TOWER DIRE have completed their fifth full-length album, Make It Dark, which is set for North American release by Italy's Cruz Del Sur Music on May 3, 2011.

TWISTED TOWER DIRE’s name has been synonymous with uncompromising classic heavy metal since its inception in 1995. Formed out of "a stubborn hatred for the '90s anti-metal culture," the band have always been able to maintain a respectable profile, not following transitory trends but keeping true to their original metal beliefs.

After their 2007 release Netherworlds, TWISTED TOWER DIRE took a short break which included the entry of new singer Johnny Aune (Viper) replacing Tony Taylor, who was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident on February 6th, 2010. Rounding out the current lineup is bassist Jim Hunter (Revelation, October 31, While Heaven Wept), drummer Mark Stauffer (Krass Judgement) and guitarists Scott Waldrop (While Heaven Wept) and Dave Boyd (Volture).

In terms of songwriting, TWISTED TOWER DIRE's fifth full-length Make It Dark represents probably the most mature album the band has written to date. With a direct approach, the band has been able to write a very compact-sounding release, made of some immediate hit songs as well as others marked with more traditional TTD taste. Make It Dark is the sum of those elements which are the pillars of rock/metal music in general and that are so greatly expressed by the band in this release: guitar and vocal melodies above the standards, catchy refrains and most important of all, the feeling that each and every one of these songs bears the potential to become a new metal classic! Strengthened by Chris Salamone’s (While Heaven Wept) post-studio work, and features cover art by UK artist Martin Hanford (Slough Feg, Bal Sagoth, Warhammer).

TTD have confirmed their next live appearance on May 20th in Raleigh, North Carolina, and will be announcing more live actions over the coming months in support of the new album.

TWISTED TOWER DIRE Live:
5/20/2011 Kings - Raleigh, NC w/ Colossus, Volture, Sex Panther

Bonded By Blood announce new touring lineup
2011-04-15
Californian thrashers BONDED BY BLOOD recently wrapped up a European co-headlining tour with LAZARUS A.D., and are now back home and preparing for a North American trek supporting SEPULTURA.

BONDED BY BLOOD have announced that BRANDON GULLING (MALUS REX, AVENGER OF BLOOD) and BEN BENNET (SMOG, WARBRINGER) will be filling in on the tour for amicably departing members ALEX LEE (guitar) and JERRY GARCIA (bass) respectively.

Remaining BONDED BY BLOOD members CARLOS REGALADO, JUAN JUAREZ and MAURO GONZALEZ have released the following statement:

"Bonded By Blood has gone through so many changes in the last couple of years while playing amazing festivals, touring the entire United States, Europe and Canada dozens of times, and enjoying the time with new and old friends and fans all over the world who mean the most to us. We first lost our original bass player, Ruben Dominguez back in 2009, then singer Jose Barrales left the band in 2010, but each was replaced with new members and the group marched on. Now, we regret to announce that Alex Lee (guitar) and Jerry Garcia (bass) are also stepping away from BBB. We will miss them just as much as we miss Ruben and Jose, and this band will not be the same without them, but the three of us that are left in Bonded By Blood hope that everyone who enjoys this band can understand that changes are inevitable. As much as we want to keep an 'original line-up', things happen that you just can't control.

"We hope all our friends, fans and fellow musicians can still give us the warm welcome we always received and still support us in these hard times while we rebuild the band as we all need all the support we can get. Thankfully, some new friends stepped up and are working hard to help us do the Sepultura tour, so big thanks to Ben Bennet (from Smog and formerly Warbringer) and Brandon Gulling (of Malus Rex and the recently reformed Avenger of Blood), who will be filling in on bass and rhythm guitar respectively while we keep together what is left of Bonded By Blood. We hope to see you all on the road again; it's not going to be the same without our old friends up there with us... But shit happens."

ALEX LEE comments:

"With Jose leaving the band followed by my own parting, I want to assure you all that it is not a coincidence, nor is it a fluke. Being a guitarist, I have always been interested in playing other styles of music and not only thrash. Don't get me wrong, I love my thrash music, but I honestly see myself being suited better with another band or type of music than what I have been doing with Bonded By Blood. It has been one of the hardest decisions of my life, due to the fact that this was the first band that I was in or established, but now I feel that it's my time to move on and to continue my progress on a new path. I wish Bonded the best of luck and I know they can succeed. As for the fans, I know they won't truly understand, they can either hate me or follow me, but I hope they will continue listening to and seeing Bonded live, for I believe that they will hold strong for years to come. You guys were the best and thanks for the great years!"

JERRY GARCIA comments:

"Being part of Bonded By Blood for almost two years now has been the best experience of my life. I've seen and done things that I could have only dreamed of. I had the honor of sharing the stage with some of the most talented musicians in the world, including the ones in my band. Everything I experienced will be something that I will cherish for a lifetime. However, as time goes by and life begins to unfold, certain things begin to become very evident and downright inevitable. Bonded By Blood is more than just a band, it's a spirit and it transcends any single individual person or band member.

"I want to thank each and every single one of you that ever supported me and the guys in doing what we do best in life, and that is music. There is no better feeling in the world than to bring happiness to someone through music. It is an incredibly humbling experience that I never took for granted. I am not sad, nor am I disappointed in my departure from the band. I see it as a fresh start to another chapter in my random life. As for me... Well, I'll be around - music is something that is essential to my life. I cherished the good, learned from the bad and realized that in life, 'the only constant is change'.

"One last thank you to everyone that showed me kindness on and off the road, so thanks to Juan, Carlos, Alex, Mauro, Marco, Talita and the rest of the Earache gang including Anthony, every band I toured with, and most of all the fans! See ya!"

Rain part with drummer
2011-04-15
Italian metallers Rain have released the following statement:

In deep sadness and regret we announce that Andrea “Mario” Baldi, our drummer and life-long friend, has decided to leave the band. Andrea’s role in the band all these years has been vital in every aspect – musical, professional, personal. Andrea has chosen to try new adventures and face new work challenges, which makes it impossible for him to follow the RAIN as would be necessary, but we can assure you that we will carry on with the same willingness and commitment that have made us grow in the 30 years of our career. All of us, from the management to the crew, wish the best for Andrea from the deep of our hearts and hope he will find the happiness and serenity that he deserves. We will miss him… Here follows the letter he has written for us, his friends and his fans:
“As some of you already know, in April 2011 my twenty-year-old collaboration with the Rain comes to an end. This decision is not due to a falling-off of enthusiasm and passion for the music that I do, but to work choices that will no longer allow me to give the band the time and attention it needs. It will not be easy to do without all the things that have filled my life since 1993 – memorable concerts, endless rehearsals, parties with the Rain crew, the loss of so many hours of sleep, the thousands of kilometers on the road, unforgettable tours, travelling all over Italy, then Europe and at last the USA dream come true. A heartful “thanks” to all those whose precious help has made all that possible; thanks to the many fans, always present and loving. Thanks again to the whole band, and particularly to Gino, Amos, Ise, Edo, Piera and Benny, with all of whom I shared so many intense and amusing moments and also difficult experiences which we always overcame brilliantly.Folks, I’m sure your fighting spirit will bring great results. I wish you good luck for the future of the band. A big hug, hope to see you somewhere , R’n’R!!! – Andrea (Mario) Baldi”

In the meantime, the entry of Emilio “Dave” Simeone , the new drummer, has become official. Eldritch and DeathSS are only two of the groups he has played with and on a few occasions he replaced Andrea in live concerts. This choice will help the band keep its high professional level and friendly atmosphere. This is the new line-up that will mark the band’s new work. To celebrate its 30th anniversary, RAIN will present old pieces in a renovated form; they will be produced in both cd and vinyl and will be released in October. This is the line-up that will set the audience on fire, starting on April 15 at Bologna “Sottotetto” supporting Rage. So RAIN is on a new deal that brings them, after 30 years, not only to ward off the thought of the end but indeed to say … THIS IS ONLY THE BEGINNING!

Sister album details revealed
2011-04-15
Swedish sleaze and punk influenced metal band SISTER have just released the artwork and tracklisting for the Metal Blade Records debut HATED, due out June 7. The first single also happens to be the title track of the album, HATED, which the band recently released a teaser video for that can be seen HERE.

The band talks about the first single HATED:
"The first single from the album is the title track HATED. It's a song about when people close to you fuck things over for you, making your life miserable till the degree that you can't take it anymore. You get so pissed and frustrated that you start to hate them and want them to hate you too. You want them to despise you and you use that anger as fuel to pull yourself back up. Feed you till you're up on the top again. We've also had a lot of people that have worked against us over the years and this track and album title is kind of a statement as well. A big 'fuck you' to those people. So it's both the title track and the anthem of the album.

It was a song that took form real quickly and pretty much put together in one evening in the rehearsal. It just came natural and it felt right to have a heavier, low tempo song after some time of writing a lot of fast maybe more punk feeling songs. Though, this one still has the punk edge like all our work of course."

1. Radioactive Misery
2. Body Blow
3. Bullshit & Backstabbing
4. HATED
5. Motherfuckers (like you)
6. Werewolves on Blackstreet
7. Spit on Me
8. The Unlucky Minority
9. Would You Love A Creature
10. Too Bad For You
11. Drag Me to the Grave

Cover art for HATED was created by Kim Oktavia who is an artist/tattoo artist in Stockholm, Sweden and photographer Axel Engström, also from Stockholm, Sweden. The band comments; "The cover art for the album are made of us and our close friends Kim Oktavia and Axel Engström. Kim is the band's tattoo artist pretty much as the whole band gets their tattoos at her studio. She worked with the pictures that we took with Axel and really made them come to life. We did the layout with Axel afterwards and we are stoked over the result. The final cover and booklet blows our minds every time we see it. We have taken photos with Axel a lot times and it felt right to work with people that really understand what we want and are on the same page all the time. So it couldn't have been better and when everybody sees the result they will see what we mean."
