Betraying The Martyrs sign with Listenable
2011-04-05
BETRAYING THE MARTYRS is a 6 piece Metal/Hardcore band from Paris, France with a new and refreshing attitude to modern metal that is bound to take the music scene by storm. The original line up established in December 2008 gathered a group of open minded individuals whose only goal was to write punishing music, deliver an astounding live performance, and portray a good image with a new and positive message.

The first and now sold out EP "The Hurt, The Divine, The Light" released in November 2009, sold more than 2000 copies in France alone and generated a great response and success and allowed to the band to tour the UK, France, Belgium, Luxembourg and Switzerland.

In 2010, former guitarist and vocalist amicably left the band and were replaced by guitarist Lucas and vocalist and British native Aaron.

It is important for BETRAYING THE MARTYRS to use the music they love to raise awareness on positive messages for the people out there. They are looking forward to help people through their songs with words and idealisms.

Wherever possible BETRAYING THE MARTYRS will be supporting positive organizations and associations throughout their concerts, and can’t wait to meet other similar open minded people to share their music and message with.

Scheduled for a mid June release, the band's full length debut album 'Breathe in life' is already drawing a huge anticipation in their native country, it benefits from a massive production and is undoubtly soon to become a roaring metal monster.

August Burns Red announce album title
2011-04-05
Genre giants AUGUST BURNS RED are poised to release one of the most anxiously awaited metal albums of 2011 - a colossal effort entitled Leveler - available in stores and online June 21st.

For Leveler, AUGUST BURNS RED re-teamed with super producer Jason Suecof, the man behind the board on their 2009 breakout, Constellations. The result is an album that pushes the band's sonic boundaries in every direction, and yet is an unquestionably heavier album than its predecessor.

"Putting out a fourth record is a little scary because we obviously have our sound figured out at this point, but we don't want to put out a record that just sounds like a redux of our previous albums," explains guitarist JB Brubaker. "Our tastes are always evolving as musicians and we've been motivated to progress as a band and push ABR in different directions, while maintaining the characteristics that made us the band we are in the first place."

AUGUST BURNS RED will take to the road as a mainstage act on this summer's Van's Warped Tour, which will deliver them to almost every major market in North America to bring Leveler's sonic spectacle directly to fans.

Leveler, the band's fourth studio album, is the follow up to ABR's breakout hit Constellations, which made waves when it landed at #24 on the Billboard Top 200. The lauded third album – whose sales have soared past 90,000 – established in no uncertain terms that AUGUST BURNS RED was a leader of its genre, a band that quietly outsold, outdrew and garnered more praise than peers who'd been gracing magazine covers for years. It's not so quiet anymore. The fans and critics have spoken – loudly.

More bands for Bloodstock
2011-04-05
With a headline cast boasting MOTORHEAD, W.A.S.P and IMMORTAL, BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR introduces five fantastic up and coming acts, a testament to the importance the Bloodstock team place on promoting new talent aside the well-established names on the bill.

First up, rising Welsh stars REVOKER make their BLOODSTOCK debut. Having stunned audiences earlier this year opening up for ROB ZOMBIE, REVOKER are one of the most promising new bands on the UK scene. “Its an honour to be playing BLOODSTOCK this year” comments guitarist Chris Green. “Its great to see such a good festival becoming bigger and better, Hopefully we can grow as a band alongside this festival and have a long prosperous relationship!!”

With their Roadrunner debut “Revenge For The Ruthless”, set for release next month, by the time BLOODSTOCK rolls around, their dangerous blend of fierce thrash and infectious choruses will be familiar favourites.

Bloodstock’s METAL 2 THE MASSES winners ACHREN will be opening this years festival on the Thursday evening. A welcome return to the Glaswegian Black Metallers, ACHREN will be playing on the back of their shows at both Metalcamp & Wacken festivals, which are both prizes in the increasingly more valuable M2TM’s rewards.

Formed in Scotland in 2003, ACHREN blend crushingly hard heavy metal riffs, death metal growls, black metal sentiments and a thrash mentality to create a unique and commandeering sound which over the course of their first two demos and subsequent releases have forged the term ‘Blood Metal’, a promising description for a band performing at BOA. Says frontman Scott Anderson:

“The Metal 2 The Masses initiative has given us a great chance to take the band to a different level. The whole team at Bloodstock work so hard to make it the best Metal festival in the UK and we can’t thank everybody enough for providing us with this great opportunity.”

This year alone the Metal 2 The Masses Roadshow has seen a staggering 500+ unsigned bands enter to be in with a chance to perform on the ‘‘New Blood’ stage.

Fresh off their tour with New Orleans sludge legends Crowbar, HAMMER OF THE GODS announce their appearance at BLOODSTOCK this summer. Conjuring the spirits of the ancients, don’t miss these toga-clad warriors as they deliver some of the slowest, heaviest, nastiest grinding metal the great outdoor will have ever witnessed.

With five studio albums under their belts since their formation in 2001, the term up and coming may not strictly apply to BLAKE, but they are certainly a band that have not to date had nearly the attention they deserve on these shores, an issue which BLOODSTOCK is proud to be addressing. Inspired by the 70’s style riff tradition, the Finnish foursome have stacked up a tally of hundreds of gigs with the likes of Black Label Society, Cathedral, Iggy Pop and Therapy?, even catching the attention of Jackass superstar Barn Margera, who included no less than three BLAKE songs in his “Viva La Spring Break” TV show. Find out why they deserve a Sabbath-style sermon at Catton Hall this summer.

Comparisons to Tool, Alice In Chains, Machine Head and Katatonia should give some indication to the versatility - and comply uncategorisable - nature of IMICUS’s music. Having previously played alongside the likes of Panic Cell, Deathstars, Sikth, Katatonia and Devil Sold His Soul, as well as Bloodstock headliners W.A.S.P and MOTORHEAD, IMICUS offer something for every kind of rock fan, including no doubt the hordes at BLOODSTOCK

Peter Steele tribute album on its way
2011-04-05
Last year the musical world was dealt a serious blow when gothic metal titan Peter Steele tragically passed away at the age of 48. While Peter may be gone, his music and his legacy live on, and they continue to inspire musicians around the world.

To honor Peter’s memory on the anniversary of his passing, and lead a new generation of metalheads to his music, heavy metal news site Metalunderground.com has teamed up with a dozen underground bands from across the globe to release an exclusive tribute album. The tribute, entitled “All For None, None For All: A Tribute to Peter Steele," was done in collaboration with Dan Mitchell of Beneath The Woods Studio and features twelve stellar cover songs from many stages of Peter’s career in both Type O Negative and Carnivore.

The songs covered, which include interpretations running the gamut from depressive rock to power metal to death metal and many stops in-between, are as follows:

1. Auvernia - “I Don't Wanna Be Me”
2. Fairytale Abuse - “Black No. 1”
3. In.verno - “Everything Dies”
4. Dead Shape Figure - “Dead Again”
5. Revilement - “Sex and Violence”
6. Emancer - “Girlfriend's Girlfriend”
7. A Band of Orcs - “Green Man”
8. Enthrope - “Wolf Moon”
9. Stabbingback - “Halloween in Heaven”
10. Dark Hound – “Life Is Killing Me”
11. Autumns Eyes – “Love You To Death”
12. Blind Greed – “Christian Woman”

A final track listing is still being determined.

Discussing his own exposure to Type O Negative, Fairytale Abuse vocalist Simon Pederson explained, “I remember very clearly when one of my friends introduced me to Type O Negative back in the early 90´s. I was quite impressed by the ambiance and melancholia of the music but even more by the depth and character of Peter Steele´s vocals. Since then their albums still regularly find their way to my CD player.” Simon then went on to add, “Peter Steele is for us without doubt one of the most significant forefathers within the entire melodic metal genre. So when being asked to deliver a song for his tribute we were doubtless that we had to participate and are honored to do so.”

The tribute includes a complete digital booklet including words from the band members themselves about Peter’s influence.

“All For None, None For All: A Tribute To Peter Steele” will be available in digital format through Metalunderground.com for a small price, required to cover the mechanical licensing fees and transaction fees.

Metalunderground.com content manager Ty Arthur further commented, “Ideally, we wanted to give this tribute away for free and let it spread like wildfire, but when distributing cover songs there are licensing fees involved since the original compositions belong to the artist and/or label. This tribute is meant to honor Peter Steele and Type O Negative’s impact on his fans and the metal landscape. We do not intend to make a penny off of this release and any earnings we may have at the end of the day will be donated to charity.

Book of Black Earth announce release date
2011-04-05
Seattle's blackened death metallers, BOOK OF BLACK EARTH, will release their new album, "The Cold Testament," on May 24th, 2011. It is the follow up to 2008's critically acclaimed concept album, "Horoskopus." The album was tracked with Chris Common (Pelican, The Sword) at the Red Room Studio in Seattle and mixed and mastered by Dan Swano (Bloodbath, Nasum, Opeth) at Unisound in Sweden.

Vocalist/guitarist TJ Cowgill commented on the new album: "Thematically, 'The Cold Testament' will be a little looser than 'Horoskopus,' but there is still an underlying current to both the sound of the album and lyrically. This will in my opinion be our strongest, most haunting offering, closing another chapter in the Book of Black Earth."

Look for the band, who have previously appeared with the likes of Watain, Cattle Decapitation, The Black Dahlia Murder, Amebix, and many more, to hit the road later this year in support of "The Cold Testament."

Weedeater band member injured
2011-04-05
Well, they made it through a month and a half of heavy duty touring in support of Jason...The Dragon, playing packed and sold-out shows every day in front of rabid crowds from coast to coast. But as with all things WEEDEATER, somebody in the band was finally injured and they were forced to cancel the last few shows of the US leg of their Jason...The Dragon tour. These shows were in the Southeast US and will be rescheduled at a later date.

As for the injury sustained; guitarist Shep broke his hand and could no longer wield his mighty axe of six strings for the remaining shows. But, as with every previous injury this band has sustained -- while on or off of tour -- Shep has been healing his mangled bones and WEEDEATER will be getting back out there to hit you all with a dose of their inhumanly heavy live show almost immediately. And of course it follows that WEEDEATER's upcoming European tour and appearance at Roadburn 2011 are still happening, so Europe, get ready to be pummeled. Confirmed dates are posted at: http://www.myspace.com/weedeater.

WEEDEATER has been fortunate enough to receive a very warm reception from fans who are reveling in Jason... The Dragon, including incredible responses at the shows; the masses were brutalized at SXSW and a good number of the other shows on the tour completely sold-out. The reception has also been evident in the sales department with the album debuting at #45 on Billboard's Heatseekers chart.

This year is shaping up to be a good one for the boys, despite any broken bones. Stay tuned for more WEEDEATER updates as they develop.

Fields of the Nephilim confirm London show
2011-04-04
Fields of the Nephilim can confirm that they will share the stage with The Mission at London's Brixton Academy on October 22nd 2011 with support from Gene Loves Jezebel.

This event represents a monumental coming together of two of the most influential bands of the dark music movement and will be a huge celebration of this powerful scene.

Carl McCoy made the following comment:

"It is well known that Fields of the Nephilim are very selective about where and when we perform live. There is always a greater significance underlying our shows. On this occasion we simply felt that the time had come to show that there is unity for all those who support the scene we are involved in. This will be a unique gathering of forces and a very memorable event.
On another level I have a personal connection with this area of London and the venue in particular, and I look forward to returning to Brixton Academy"

Carl McCoy, creator and vocalist of Fields of the Nephilim, was influenced from a very young age by a ‘dark culture’, aiding his decision to pursue a career in art and music. He embraced the world of the occult and portrayed it through his own apocalyptic fusion of Victorian underworld meets Serge Leone Spaghetti Western. Fields of the Nephilim’s emerging brand of aural delights were expressed in genre defining tracks such as ‘Trees Come Down’, ‘Power’, ‘Preacher Man’ and ‘Dawnrazor'.

The band continues to affirm their cult status with regular festival headline appearances around the World and sell-out shows in many major cities. Their legacy stretches back over 25 years with the band continuing to evolve their seminal sound and never failing to entrance those that bear witness to their ritual live shows.

Twisted Sister drummer joins Fallen Blue
2011-04-04
Fallen Blue was created as a means to provide support, both emotional and financial, for the families of police officers who are killed outside the line of duty. It is with great pride that we are honored to announce that A.J. Pero has become our National Spokesperson. Mr. Pero has spent his life entertaining rock music fans as the drummer for Twisted Sister. He has also dedicated his life to helping others less fortunate with his charity work.

"My name is A.J. Pero and I play drums for the Heavy Metal Band, TWISTED SISTER. I have been asked by John and Rachael from Fallen Blue to be a part of the Brotherhood. I jumped at the opportunity. I have become the National Spokesperson for this non-profit organization called Fallen Blue. I am honored to be a part of this family, this vital organization. I will help out 150%, so we can achieve our goals. Our goals are to help the families of these brave men and women who die outside the line of duty. When a police officer is killed outside the line of duty - whether accidentally or by their own hand due to job related stress - they don't receive the benefits. Some families can't even afford to have a funeral, never mind future bills. I've experienced that years ago when a friend on the job, stressed out and emotionally fried, shot himself. Our neighborhood stood together to help the wife and children. We had benefits and cookouts to raise money, but it just wasn't enough. This organization can and will become vital nationwide if we all recognize this is a reality and pull together our resources for all Law Enforcement Officers. Even though there are many different branches, we are all the same underneath and need to be treated as such. We would also like to eventually erect a physical Memorial where we can go and honor those killed outside the line of duty."

Please join us in welcoming A.J. Pero to our cause, and check out http://fallenblue.org to keep up with our latest efforts to help serve those who protect us.

Between The Buried And Me announce new LP
2011-04-04
Globally celebrated progressive rock / cutting-edge metal innovators BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME (aka BTBAM) will release their new LP The Parallax: Hypersleep Dialogues on April 12 via Metal Blade Records. The three-song strong, 30 minute tour de force was recorded at Canada's Metalworks Studios and Rattlebox Studios and produced / engineered by the Grammy award–winning David Bottrill (Tool, Muse, King Crimson, Dream Theater, etc.) with BTBAM. MetalSucks is currently premiering The Parallax: Hypersleep Dialogues in its entirety! Check out the full stream of the upcoming release today (at this location).

The Parallax: Hypersleep Dialogues represents BTBAM's musical and conceptual masterwork; the record showcases both the quintet's vivid execution and ambitious vision. The otherworldly conceptual thread linking each of the songs is mobilized around two human characters that live in different planes of existence and are separated by millions of light years, each confronted with similar personal issues. Subsequently, both characters make decisions that will change their lives, and perhaps the course of the universe, forever. Musically, the release presents aura-rich atmospheres rife with roaring volumes, corrugated rhythms and trance-inducing intricacies. Cerebral and visceral, soft and heavy, melodic and abrasive, tender and brutal, familiar and strange and taut yet sprawling and epic, BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME has crafted a sound that is musically sophisticated yet primal and a disc where every new passage leads to the culmination of an epic adventure.

Track listing:
1.) Specular Reflection
2.) Augment of Rebirth
3.) Lunar Wilderness

Ostrogoth cancel Keep It True appearance
2011-04-02
Belgian metal legendes OSTROGOTH have been forced to cancel their appearance at the Keep It True 14 festival in Germany. Drummer Mario Pauwels have made the following statement regarding the unfortunately but necessary cancellation:

”It is with great regret and with tremendous pain in the heart, that I am obliged (on behalf of my band) to transfer you the news that our appearance at KIT will be cancelled for this year's edition.

Our original member Whiteshark had a horrible accident at his job place.

Whiteshark works as a carpenter and had a grimm meeting with a saw, which cutted his left forearm almost through.

So my friend Oliver, we were again in this new Ostrogoth adventure with (4/5) the original line-up and had an exploding concert in Athens, Greece, which was very promising for the near future. We were already planning to 'break' the stage at KIT.

Whiteshark's revalidation will last at least 6 to 8 months, but we will be there at KIT 2012!”
