The 28th of March BORKNAGAR signed a 3 album deal with Century Media Records.

BORKNAGAR is currently working on material for a new album, at this point roughly scheduled to be released in early 2012.

Ųystein G. Brun comments:

“Well, sometimes life takes slightly unexpected yet great turns! Due to internal business affairs the deal with Indie recordings was mutually terminated by both parties in January 2011. Since then we have been negotiating a possible re-signing with CENTURY MEDIA RECORDS. While you are reading this, Jens F. Ryland and I are at the headquarters of CMR in Dortmund to ink a new deal with our old partners in crime. If feels very good to be back in the fold of the mighty Century family- there is simply no team- no label alike. Thanks to Jens Preuter (head A&R) we have worked out and landed a deal that we are 110% sure will serve the future endeavors of BORKNAGAR in the best possible and most potent way. We share so much history with CMR and we are now preparing to create more musical history for the future to come- together with our friends at the Century family!“

Head of A&R at Century Media, Jens Preuter, comments:

“We are very proud to welcome back such a great and highly influential band. Whether you want to call it Black-, Progressive-, Viking-, Folk- or whatever Metal, Borknagar always managed to be just themselves on a unique and high level. I already heard some pre-production demos from the upcoming album and I can tell you it will be not just another masterpiece, but probably the best material they’ve done so far. In case you live near by Dortmund , Germany , you can come by the Die Burg bar on Thursday, March 29 evening and party with Ųystein G. Brun, Jens F. Ryland and the Century Media crew."

More details and information will be issued soon!

Queensr˙che announce new album title
2011-03-29
Queensr˙che announced today that their new album will be called Dedicated to Chaos and it will be released this summer. It’s the band’s first effort for its new label, Roadrunner Records/Loud & Proud. The band – featuring Geoff Tate, Michael Wilton, Eddie Jackson, Scott Rockenfield and Parker Lundgren -- is currently planning a tour in support of the new opus, which was recorded in its native Seattle. Tour dates and information will be released when available.

“Modern life moves fast,” commented frontman Geoff Tate about the album. “Plug into the rhythm of the now with our 12th studio album, Dedicated to Chaos. It’s a clash and slash of musical experimentation anchored by the pulse of digital code.” He did issue one suggestion to listeners as well, saying: “Enjoy – headphones are a must.”

Queensr˙che’s 1988-issued album Operation: Mindcrime is universally respected as a classic concept release about rock, revenge and redemption, which is ultimately regarded as one of the most important and essential hard rock records in the genre’s expansive canon. 1990’s follow-up, Empire, yielded a #1 single, the Grammy-nominated ballad “Silent Lucidity,” which the band performed at the 1992 Grammy Awards accompanied by a supporting orchestra.

In 2006, the band released Operation: Mindcrime II, a scorching sequel to their original. The band then hit the road performing both albums Operation: Mindcrime and Operation: Mindcrime II back-to-back in their entirety in an incredible theatrical presentation throughout the year. The final performance was recorded at The Moore Theatre in Seattle that October and the Mindcrime at the Moore double CD/DVD release debuted at #1 on Billboard's Top Music DVD Chart and eventually reached Gold status.

The band is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year and Dedicated to Chaos marks a new and riveting chapter in Queensr˙che’s already impressive history that fans will not want to miss.

And the chaos has just begun.

Albert Mudrian of Decibel Magazine declares that Phoenix Amongst the Ashes is "the best death metal record I've heard in FOREVER!" while the folks over at Metal Sucks proclaim that "Phoenix Amongst the Ashes is the moment Erik Rutan's entire career has been leading towards -- it's heavy, it's catchy, and it's innovative. This is the best death metal album of 2011 so far, and other bands are going to have to work pretty hard to top it."

Track listing for Phoenix Amongst the Ashes:
1. Rebirth
2. The Eternal Ruler
3. Thorns of Acacia
4. Haunting Abound
5. The Art of Redemption
6. Phoenix Amongst the Ashes
7. Deathveil

Commented Rutan: "Phoenix Amongst the Ashes is an album that we as a band worked so very hard on to achieve a record of mammoth dynamic proportions. Jade, J.J and I gave everything we had to make a death metal record that would incorporate a balance of speed, heaviness, melody, and pure power. Every song we labored over to have stand out with originality, individuality and unique creativity. We feel we accomplished everything we set out to do with this album and are very proud of the results; we hope you all will agree…"

Dark Funeral band update
2011-03-28
Band leader Lord Ahriman of Swedish black metal veterans Dark Funeral has issued the following update:

Ave!

I/we understand that many of you impatiently are waiting for us to announce the new line-up, get back on tour, write and release a new album and so forth, and rightfully so! Personally I wish we would have been back at full force long time ago, but for obvious reasons, we don't want to make any sudden decisions here, which I'm sure you all understand!

Obviously, we could have chosen the quick and easy way, brought in some great and talented session musicians, and just kept on touring, but because we want to build a new, much stronger and sustainable line-up, that was an option was ruled out immediately.

Anyway, I just wanted to give a quick sign of life and let you know that things are moving along just fine. And as long as things continue to go according to our master plan, we should be back at full force before the summer. However, I'd like to point out that we haven't made any final decisions or hired anyone yet, but it shouldn't take much too long until we do. Stay tuned...

/Lord Ahriman & Dark Funeral

"This is number 10..... Album number 10!!!!! That we even made it this far, that is amazing. Then, to deliver the album of our career that is something else..... It's fast, slow, heavy and mellow. Use and abuse!!!!!

By the way, we are happy to be in bed with Century media. They know the business we know the music, a perfect match. What can possibly go wrong....ha, ha, ha!!!!!!"

- Anders Fridén/In Flames

In Solitude reveal new album details
2011-03-28
Swedish occult Heavy Metallers IN SOLITUDE have revealed the tracklisting and cover artwork for their upcoming new album The World. The Flesh. The Devil due for release on May 20/23 via Metal Blade Records in Europe!

The World. The Flesh. The Devil has been recorded in Nicke Anderson's (Hellacopters) brand new studio Gutterview Recorders in Stockholm, Sweden with producer Fred Estby (Dismember, Death Breath) at the helm.

The World. The Flesh. The Devil features 8 songs clocking in at 58 minutes!

Comments the band: "One and a half year has passed since we started writing the album. It's not much, I guess, but it feels like a lifetime. And we are still quite amazed of how life-threatening and beautiful this piece of work turned out. We don't want anyone to expect anything besides growth - which is essential, musically and lyrically. And it will speak for itself.

I guess we were doing things more "point-blank" when it came to the songs on the last record. It´s still the same procedure when we record, of course, but in a larger spectrum, yet with far more focus. And this way we've been able to really make the experience go far deeper, and we've made it larger, to an extent where it really communicates with the emotion and the energies that drives us. The material did communicate on the last record as well, of course it did, but this time it´s almost more of a communion rather than a communication. This time around we've had far more knowledge about (and at one with) the emotion and energies that drives us. It´s a beautiful thing.

It is very hard to explain the nature of making a record. But it was a really great experience. It really felt like we were packing our bags and gathering ourselves before leaving this place forever. On burnings paths into the night we can´t wait to share that trip with everyone."

Track listing 'The World The Flesh The Devil':
1. The World the Flesh the Devil
2. We Were Never Here
3. Serpents are Rising
4. Poisoned, Blessed and Burned
5. Demons
6. To Her Darkness
7. Dance of the Adversary
8. On Burning Paths

Seremedy sign with Ninetone Records
2011-03-25
Their debut single "Bulletproof Roulette" is out now Worldwide through Ninetone/Universal and the following debut-Maxisingle "Seasons will change" is due for release April 13th

Seremedy is a fresh, young Visual Rock band from Sweden that aims to shock the one-sided, monotone western music-market with their extravagant, androgynous looks. Combined with a modern metal/pop sound, they've developed a two-sided view on the world. One side is heavy and dark, aggressive yet melodic. The other is more colorful, cheerful and happy.

Starting for real with a complete line-up in January 2010, they've been gaining an ever growing number of fans from all around the world. Only 6 months after their formation they played their first show abroad in Moscow, Russia. In Sweden they are already an established, popular act among the various Japanese Pop-culture Conventions such as UppCon, MeuwCon, WhateverCon and ConFusion.

Seremedy has already gained interest from media in Japan with a feature in "Cure", one of the biggest Visual Rock magazines, with the song "Bulletproof Roulette". The attached sampler album was produced by KENZI, a Japanese Visual Rock legend. They were also featured in the "Pickup Artist" section of the magazine.

Both YOHIO and SEIKE has friends in the Japanese music-scene, and they have a Japan Tour booked April 24 - May 7.

Vastum to release debut album
2011-03-25
Washington-based indie heavyweight 20 Buck Spin has acquired Bay Area death metal outfit VASTUM to their ever-expanding roster for the disbursement of band's debut full-length, Carnal Law, set for worldwide release May 31, 2011. All fans of the darkest and harshest realms of pure old-school Swedish death metal listen up; this one is for you.

While VASTUM are a fairly brand new name to the public, you've just been informed. Hailing from the underground music hotbed of California's notorious Bay Area, the band's sound permeates the most wretched, dehumanizing, true old-school death metal might on Carnal Law. VASTUM's lineup aligns an arsenal of tight-knit musicians with current or past ties to Acephalix, Saros, Amber Asylum, Hammers of Misfortune, Infest and more, but the band's stripped-down, gravedigging attack is more crushing and potent than many contemporary acts flying the death metal banner.

Conceptually, Carnal Law explores themes of sexuality and psychic disfiguration, not in the oft juvenile way associated with underground metal, but in the more cerebral context one finds in the work of Georges Bataille or psychoanalyst Jean Laplanche. Frustration, pain, pleasure, confusion, depravity, death, life and isolation; the lines are blurred. Check out the album art and more here.

Carnal Law Track List:
1. Primal Seduction
2. Re-Member
3. Devoid
4. Umbra Interna
5. Carnal Law
6. Spirit Abused

While a newer name to the death metal multiverse, VASTUM sound every bit a twisted, seasoned band well-read in the genre’s strengths and weaknesses, and harness them at will toward their own Law.

Stay tuned for more news on VASTUM over the coming months, and get in touch with Earsplit right away to take part in the celebratory massacre that is Carnal Law immediately!
